Reply | Forward Message #86 of 227 |
Hi, thought i'd post another version of the new catalogue to the
group as an alternative to the file [word deocument].
Playin' live this Friday nite in Dunedin, gonna go apeshit with power
electronic i reckon. why fuggin not. i'll have my new catalogue there
+ a bunch of Cd-rs. Ain't life grande. ain't the web a great
subversive tool . fuck those conservatives man.
Here's the menu :

CRUDE CD-R CATALOGUE WINTER 2005
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
A Crude Cd-r: be it an attractive conversation piece or contentious
fetish these lil' silver platters work wonders ev'ry time. Here is
your menu.
This seasons' package is the most complete yet and features several
newly remastered titles. Fans of the early Crude sound will warm to
the presence of pre-Inner City Guitar Perspectives tunes, fans
of `tek-noise' should have a field-day with this menu.
People often tell me they feel overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of
titles and find it difficult to pick one - my advice: trust yer
instinct, follow the genre code and dabble..or don't, it don't
matter. For those only wishing to purchase an item or two, I've
labelled what I deem essential recordings as `recommended'.
And so! without further ado:

Genre code : f/hn-flatline/harsh noise,
sn-shit noise, psy-psychotronics, tn-tech noise, lte-low tech
electronic, pr-post-rock, da-dark ambient, mc-musique concrete, g-
glitch, m-mixed genres, je - jazz experiments, ilf- indie/lofi, gar-
garage, l-live, s-songs

CRUDE – `BANK' [sn:mc]
Derelict noise, phone bank prank and lazy machine chatter lay upon
gloomy,
refridgerate sci-fi back-drop. Toxic. Dead. Recommended.

CRUDE – `ARTLESS INTENT SIGNATURES VOLUME 1' [sn:mc]
Yeast and synthesiser in throes of ferment. Soak for meninge, sap for
nerve. Low-ebb bad-time bed time no-wave noise putty. No budget high
rent North Island semi-tropical viral sonic.

CRUDE – `CONTROLLED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES' [tn]
Arcade tunes circa 2001. Mature realization of Crude electro sound
previous to use of actual `music software'. Requires insane futurist
MC on vocals. Perhaps some sort of Andre 3000 clone would do well
here.

CRUDE - INTELSAT 707 [f/hn:psy]Very popular amongst `coldwavers'.
Superconductive slab o' ice. Sound art sou-wester. Discover
thyselves bathed in liquid nitrogen. Give cold stares new meaning.
Recommended.

CRUDE - C3 [lte]
Arcade arcade arcade with sharp bloody teeth. Tunes in the tradition
of video game sound artist Disasteradio. Zippy.

CRUDE - DEATH SATELLITE 2 [f/hn]
Four monolithic slabs of super-condensed synthesise. Rediculously
heavy. Grandiose and alien.

CRUDE - STALINO CYBERNETICS [lte:s]
One of the first electro outings by Crude developed in 1997. Kitsch
IDM with a lo-fi ethic in essence. Some early examples of what would
become Crude's tek-noise component also. Album title
stolen from situationist texts [oh I such a phoney]

CRUDE - SCI-FI SOUND [da]
Very much as it's name suggests. Evocative of Ridley Scotts' cult
film Bladerunner. This reference was not intended, it just happened
that way. Recommended. 7 pieces of cheese.

CRUDE - CYP3A5 [tn]
If you like yer noise electronic, savage and evocative of war this
album is for you. I envisage a psychotic control freak reclining
slightly with cup o' tea in hand over this one. Gargantuan remix of
the classic anomic anthem 'I Don't Know You', furious data 'feed'
sequences and other noisy ganglia.

CRUDE - PROLIFERATION OF DRONES [tn:lte:s:pr]
The 'Australian MP3 album'.Pieces selected for posting [dumping] to
the Australian version of MP3.com [mp3.com.au] in 2003. The palette:
power electronics, rockabilly,
shit-noise, IDM…..features the potential top ten hits 'Help-Us/Be-Us'
and 'That's How it's Gonna Be'.

CRUDE – THE STRAY (EP) [tn:da]
The first in the Aklass tryptich. Again, we're talking 'power
electronics'
[power surges, overloads, leaks, expulsive sheets of sound, radio
manipulation and tekno dried-to-the bone]. A stunning EP, recommended
for those who want it psychotic, the perfect gift.

CRUDE - STAND YOUR GROUND [s:lte:ilf:pr]
Attempt at a semi-commercial album. Of the many albums listed here,
about 5 or 6 of them were indeed tailored for possible future
mainstream release. What results is hilarious.
Pop songs aplenty, all evoking dementia, sleazy twang, sick ol' synth
and crooning [I gotta see her, or we won't go…pick up all your cases,
pick up all your dreams et al]….maybe…maybe..

CRUDE - AUTO SERIES VOLUMES ONE TO NINE 9 [m]
Series of automatic remixes.Random crude cuts, electro-acoustic
works, songs, noise, delirious ambient routines, general miscellanea
I personally like this series, deliberately mixed at a furious pace
and concocted purely by chance. Cd 4 is is not counted for for
various reasons so in all there are 8 discs, [volumes
1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9] The set is available at a discount.

CRUDE – RAYTHEON [tn:psy]
Flat-line hiss, radio/video feed, pocket calculators and digital
helicopter noise….yawning stealth syths and time travel…….Reccomended

CRUDE - CATALOGUES OF MEANINGLESSNESS [ilf:pr:je:s]
Another one of those song based albums..ratt-a-doodle ho'down jiggle
tunes and post-rock foolery. Features the hits `This Town part
2', `Turbo Cum', `Blood' and `Sunday'. Also available through
Invisible Generations' Artless Intent Cd-r series

CRUDE - STORED VALUE SYSTEM [f/hn:sn]
The shriek of a million cybernetic seagulls. The rise of a vengefull
phoenix. Hellish noise. Recommended.

CRUDE – NASDAQ [lte:pr]
More Crude electro circa 1998, beautiful exploitation of a roland
juno 60 synth. Features the tek-rock of `Punk' and the white noise
of `kamakaze perspectives'.

CRUDE LIVE [l:s]
Live cuts from a variety of sparsely attended gigs 1998-2002. This
entire album has been posted to mp3.com.au, but if you want yerselves
something to hold in yer hands by all means buy this. Great
renditions of Crude classics…recommended.

CRUDE – MARS [tn:g]
Bizzare synthesiser excursions and electronic wizardry. An incubative
atmosphere permeates this recording, a selection of cold sonic fields
captured in 1999.

CRUDE - DATASTREAM COWBOY
[s:pr:lte]
This was modelled as a 'major release' - perhaps the follow up to
Inner City Guitar Perspectives. It's all there, the horns, guitar,
clarinet, the quirky vocals, the wierdness. And the synth is finding
it's own here too. As old as it is [1996] [that's not old] Datastream
Cowboy
should still sound futuristic in 2010. Songs.

CRUDE - SPECIAL TONE [f/hn:psy]
Deliberately extreme. This is the sound of a trillion jet-streams. If
you are searching for White Noise, this is my interpretation. Use
this album as you see fit - be it distraction, dislocation or
destruction. An aid to time-travel.
Recommended.

CRUDE - POPULAR SOURCE CODES [f/hn:je:tn]
Album showcasing the insane cut and paste classic `binge/brawl'. Bar-
room brawl themes beside far-future machine code. Ends with the
sinister smoulder of `refridgerant 502'. Reccomended.

CRUDE - SLOW CODE [f/hn:psy]
Murky 50 minute radio drone culled from short wave session. The drone
is enhanced with two lines of undulating synth. What was a typical
radio abberation transforms into a work of outlandish beauty….

CRUDE - SPECIAL EDITION [tn]
Unrelenting and bloodthirsty synth. 3 20 minute pieces pulsing,
heaving and alien. Psychotic beats, perfect in preparation for
battle..or just a walk down to the shop..

CRUDE - INFORMATIK 105 f/hn:tn]
More noise. Double album length, fax/modem sensibility. True alien
horror-scapes designed for the office environment. Features the
irrevocable classic 'Brainwash Sequence '53' and the lift-off
perspectives of 'Beta Test'.

CRUDE - INTELSAT 103 [f/hn]
Again, a deliberatly extreme work. Calculatedly extreme. Wall-noise
street drunk glue-bag heavy. Guitar feedback vomited and re-ingested.
Bad weather in space. Re-animate the dead with this shit.

CRUDE - NEW FUNDAMENTALS [m:s:pr]
The first batch of songs injected into MP3.com circa 2000.
There are some great songs here, and a nifty cover. Beige, the black
of 2010.
Many shining examples of the 'Crude Sound', Crude does 2-step, Crude
does tek-house, Crude does the dishes.

CRUDE - RESISTANT PROTEIN [sn:da:psy]
Very heavy synth assault. What more can I say. For the collector
only.

CRUDE - SAX SERPENTINE [je]
Collection of clarinet and saxophone acapellas, quartets and fanfares
recorded 1996-1997. Lovely cinematic pieces and abstract sections.
Critically acclaimed(well, Ian from Invisible Generation loves it),
20 tracks in all.

CRUDE - SAX SERPENTINE REMIX [je]
The companion to Sax Serpentine. Wild remixes of clarinet/sax with a
total disregard for the rules. Searing solos bastardized and hacked,
scorch and smoulder, the aural magic of reverse and half speed,
incantation and pomp alongside throwaway hiss, sonic retort, refrain
and crunch..a stunner, very much recommended.

CRUDE – MARZ NOIZ [tn:da]
Inspired by the recent footage of the Martian surface. Marz Noiz is
basically an anthem for the planet-scape. Perhaps my geekiest outing
to date – a work I would like to submit to the Mars Society.
Cheese: B-grade cheese – not new age cheese.

CRUDE – THE MINE [s:tn:psy]
Mp3 album of 2004. Absolutely wicked, absolutely challenging, Crudes'
finest hour. Features the hits `The Mine' `The nanocreep' and the
psychodelic roar of `Binnenstadsgitaar Perspectieven'. Recommended.

CRUDE – NOTES FROM THE MICROCOMMUNITY [je:da]
Rag-bag of cackling saxophone, field recordings and other sound art
junk. Some of the most piercing screams for mummy ever pushed through
a horn. Help me. Please.

CRUDE – WE SHALL NURTURE SOLIPSISTS [je:tn:da:psy]
We shall Nurture Solipsists' [call cry of some nihilist cult?] was
recorded in one day in 1999 and features the unearthly shreik
of 'Machette'. The remainder of the album is a delirious jaunt
into 'dark ambient' terrain - a sound apparently fitting for that
biblically charged year..[ and what a let down it was
too].Recommended.

CRUDE – ORDER [s:ilf:pr]
Fans of those cute lil' cassettes and those with a preference for the
Crude sound
of the 'Inner City Guitar Perspectives' era ['94,'95,'96] will
appreciate the remastering of the classic tape 'Order'. Lot's of
guitar, simplistic and chunky synth and clarinet work here, much of
this album ended up on the aforementioned LP. Features the
song 'Dinner and a Movie' and the clarinet acapella 'a Reprimand',
which contributed to Aleister Galbraiths 'next new way' compliation
Cd released in 1998.

CRUDE – LA CHALEUR BASSE DE FIDELITE VOL 1 AND 2 [s:ilf:pr:gar]
For those who wish to dig deeper, I gone done the old demo tape
resurrection/rehabilitation thing [ compare beastie boys 'some old
bullshit', any 'rarities and b-sides' albums etc etc] and commited 29
real early songs from the first batch of tape releases to a shiny 2
disc set. It ain't everything recorded but it's got the highlights.
Fucked up songs, sketchbook versions of what became Aesthetics
material, alternate versions, tracks from geraldine lathe releases -
all 4-track, all dirty, all indie lofi basically. Go get it, a piece
of nz music history. I reckon. Recommended.

CRUDE – THE GEL [da:tn:psy:g]
One of most recent Crude recordings available here. `The Gel'
features 6 tracks, all linked to a common motif. This is glitch at
it's most vile,,,stretching and creeping like some sort of fungal
organism….perfect for an avant garde sci-fi. Stings like a bad
injection and sears nerve endings like shock therapy. It's also very
serene in a way, perfect for star gazing.. True neuro musik. The
Gel ….compare perhaps a more cerebral version of `The Blob'.
Recommended – a personal highlight. Dedicated to the memory of
William S.Burroughs.

CRUDE – RICH AND DUMB [tn]
Dub versions of recent Crude elctronic works. 60 minutes of nihilist
beats. For those who must have it ALL. Rich and Dumb – the
unfortunate condition of so many of those `superior' to us….
