Hey Matt,
I'm alright, but the storm didn't come anywhere near me. I'm in Cocoa, FL, in the central part of the state. I'm not sure why there were so many deaths in South Florida. The storm was very mild when it passed over Florida.
Things are insane in New Orleans as I'm sure you've heard. Our government apparently had no plan in place for what happened and federal emergency services and the military have been slow in reacting. So many of our National Guard are overseas that they can hardly take care of things here. A huge group of mostly African Americans have been stranded at a convention center for days now without food and basic needs and agents from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) are flat out lying on the news, saying that our federal gov't knew nothing about these people. It's all starting to stink of racism and discrimination against the poor.
To add to all of this immensely sad news, it was reported that Fats Domino did not evacuate his home in New Orleans. He is missing and presumed dead.
On a much lighter side, I recently got Space Dust's First to the Future record in the mail. Cool album, man. I hope you are still active with them as well.
Take care,
Rod
