Hello Guys!
Let’s do something absolutely wonderful for barbershopping. Let’s cause your chapter to grow, become a great organization and accomplish its goals in great ways. The new strategies and tools needed are ready now.
An exciting barbershop workshop is planned for Saturday, September 6 in
Compellingly attractive chapter meetings are the heartbeat of viability and the most important pre-requisite for growth.
The workshop has been given a number of times. In this latest rendition, you will get the benefit of the refinements from feedback. Some participants from former workshops wrote:
Ø Let me tell you from my astounded heart, that last Saturday’s workshop was the spark that will bring a flame back to our hobby. I, along with others, were inspired by what you have done. I only hope you can achieve this on an international basis.
Ø Many members have told us that these are the best meetings we've ever had. We all agree we're getting more done and having more fun! We highly recommend Chuck Greene's workshop titled "Compellingly Attractive Chapter Meetings"--and his approach to chapter development--to any chapter, regardless of skills or goals!
Ø The workshop was as well planned as any I've seen, ever—barbershop or professionally. The concept and his reasoning were appealing. It was fast-paced, logical, innovative, and participatory. It was an eye-opener for everyone. I highly recommend the program. It's a fresh approach to revitalizing our hobby. And it was a heck of a lot of FUN!"
Ø I have been a member since 1962 and for several decades have assumed that if I lived to be 90 I would be on hand when the Society "turned off the lights." I was thrilled by your Workshop on Chapter meetings because the material gives us a chance to ... "Save the Society." The 7 deal-breaker value characteristics are an excellent measurement metric, the learning techniques are the best I've ever seen, the many tips on procedures are terrific, and
the scripting approach brings it all together in an extremely positive way.
Ø It’s been just over 3 months since your workshop and we are so proud of ourselves! It’s working!

The workshop content is aimed at near-term growth and long-term viability. You’ll return to your chapter knowing how to build it into a great organization—what to do on meeting nights (short of hiring the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes) to make meetings compellingly attractive to prospective and current members.
The workshop is chocked full of specific strategies and tools—over 30—to inspire chapter growth in this day and time. Most of them will be new to you. They are primarily Music Team purview, championed by the Director(s).
- the chapter's active membership increased by over 80%,
- over 70% of the prospective members who visited a meeting joined, and
- the average age of the chapter’s active membership dropped by 9 years.
These stats are better than the overwhelming majority of Society chapters. And the growth happened organically—no major marketing push or advertising blitz.
Guys, it’s not too good to be true. The grounding for this work is deep. It’s from research and beta-testing—no armchair guesses, no pet theories, no social seminar—this is the real deal—you can check the website for the research details and background: www.21stn7th.com .
The workshop content is the result of over two years of graduate-level studies dealing with these questions:
- What are the causes that have driven over 90% of North American non-profits with a club or chapter structure into decline over the last 40 years? [The Society is a classic case among thousands of these organizations in decline.]
- What strategies have revitalized the few who are thriving again?
The causes of decline have affected every organization on the continent. They are forces we cannot control—forces of social context and generational change. Society chapters must adapt to these forces in order to thrive.
And now we know how. We have envisioned and beta-tested successful strategic solutions.
“Compellingly Attractive Chapter Meetings” is the first in a series of three workshops. More specifics on the content of the first workshop and on the basis for the workshop series are attached.
Here’s the thumbnail rundown:
