Hi Ryan!
Glad to do the writeup on your expansion, it was a process to cement
in my mind the procedure anyway. I was meaning to even take photos
and put them in, but was too much in a hurry to get the thing
together and working! Next time I open it up for another mod, I'll
take some and upload them.
Thanks for the tip about the Vcc and GND, I suspected that it might
be possible the way you said it, but I wasn't game to mess with the
ROM too much at the time.
Re: extra plug-in SRAM - I was actually planning sometime to mount a
socket in the cartridge bay of my SK-8 and wire it up parallel to the
internal SRAM, with all the resistors etc wired to it, and have the
CS and WE lines toggled for each chip, so you could have either the
internal RAM or the pluggable external one. The cartridge cover could
be made watertight and would keep liquids away from the chip.
I personally know of one other guy who has actually done your
expansion - "catweasle" from the circuitbenders.co.uk forum. I've
also had at least 2 others email me about specific details of the
process, one of them asking about my LED display, too.
Cheers, Graham
