1. Celtic Music News
=========================
Greetings Celtic Music Lovers,
Well so far, Song Henge is getting an amazing response. The new
subscribers who've responded said they Loved it. That makes me
happy, and of course, makes it worthwhile to run. I still have
a lot of updating which I haven't had a chance to do this past
week, what with the recording I've been at with the Brobdingnagian
Bards. I should have more time this coming week.

I also got the second Irish & Celtic Music Podcast up and
running. I'm really pleased how it's sounding. Hopefully, we'll
soon have a network of Celtic music podcasts if I can get
together with Aaron Drake of the Celtic Music News Podcast and
Michael Murphy with the Irish Music Podcast.
Irish & Celtic Music Podcast
http://www.celticmp3s.com/podcast/
I don't remember if I mentioned the Irish Music Podcast. It
started up a few weeks back. It's an awesome podcast with Irish
music, news and entertainment. I particularly love their "This
Week in Beer" feature. Always fun.
Irish Music Podcast
http://www.irishmusicpodcast.com/
Michael Murphy also has a band--Michael Murphy and the Shannon
River Band. I hadn't heard of his group before I found the
podcast, but I am loving what I am hearing now. The group has
a wonderful traditional sound with sharp harmonies and a some
killer fun music.
Raymond McCullough is an Irish gem. I've wanted to feature this
talented Irish songwriter for a long time ago. Raymond combines
traditional Celtic music with contemporary songwriting while
fusing musical styles from China and Israel with Celtic Christian
themes. He has a totally unique musical style that's had him
topping the charts on various Celtic Christian internet radio
stations.
Slainte!

CELTIC BAND FEATURE #1
=========================
"Whisky You're the Devil" by Michael Murphy and the Shannon
River Band
Michael Murphy and the Shannon River Band offers a high-energy
display of their Celtic roots, blended with leading-edge
elements of bluegrass and jam-rock styles. The band's original
and traditional music blends sounds from the Dubliners,
Wolfetones, Bill Monroe, Ricky Scaggs, Phish and Dave Mathews.
Both old and young, traditional and modern can't resist this
rhythm and improvisation-infused approach to traditional
Celtic music.
This connection with audiences through music comes through loud
and clear on the band's 2004 self-titled release. Music from the
album has been featured on-air, with consistent play on WEDO
810AM. Host Diane Byrnes calls the group, "The area's brightest
new talent … This disc is a must-have for your music library!"
The effort has also been featured in 2004 St. Patrick's Day
on-air and live event promotions for WRRK 96.9FM.

CELTIC CD FEATURE
=========================
"Highland Fling" by Highland Fling
by Catherine L. Tully
Artist: Highland Fling
http://classictouchmusic.com/
Album: "Highland Fling"
Year produced: 2005
Simple, pleasant Celtic music combining the sound of the harp,
fiddle and hammered dulcimer, this is a lovely CD. Susan Kidney's
fiddle playing meshes beautifully with the harp music of Donna
Germano. There is a mix of traditional Scottish tunes and new
music here, so everyone should be pleased.
The music on the CD spans all tempos, with selections arranged
well to compliment each other. The range of sounds that both
artists can elicit from their instruments shows their expertise
and makes the music a pleasure to sit back and listen to. Don't
miss the sweet sounds of track 5, Graveyard Fields or Hector the
Hero, track 9 which has spoken lyrics in addition to the music;
a nice listen.
This album is one to sit back and enjoy. Lament for the Mountains
was my favorite track, and is an original of Susan Kidney's.
There are 13 tracks with a wide range of sound for only a few
instruments! This is a pairing of talent that is something worth
listening to.

CELTIC BAND FEATURE #2

"I Will Life My Eyes Up" by Raymond McCullough
Singer/songwriter, Raymond McCullough, has been writing songs
since 1973. He plays guitar and mandolin and has travelled and

in Israel, China (Beijing), Scotland and Ireland, north and
south - playing pubs, concerts, churches - on the street, if
required! At the Fiddler's Green International Festival in
Rostrevor, Ireland recently he was described by one of the
organisers as "the discovery of the festival!"
