"Thanks so much for the mention of Mouth Music's 'Seafaring Man'.
Sometimes I have a problem getting to the music so I ordered it
on your advice and it's wonderful. Thanks, keep up the good
work!" -Kristin

"Celtic MP3s: Song of the Week" is growing amazingly wel. We're
getting a good hundred subscribers per week now and it's gonna
grow. Why? Well pretty soon, we'll be offering all our reviews
at http://www.CelticCafe.com/ , a fantastic site originally
formed to highlight the Riverdance phenomena. It's grown into
one of the most popular Celtic webzines online. And I'm excited
about this chance to work with Bernadette and Celtic Cafe.

But I could still use your help. Please add a link to
http://www.CelticMP3s.com/ and if you like the music you hear,
then buy a CD. Musicians thrive off CD sales. So help out your
favorite musician and order a CD.

2. Stonecircle - "Down by the Sally Gardens"
http://mp3.com/Stonecircle?cm
=================================================

Stonecircle is five-piece from Utah performing modern Celtic
music that is both light and mystical, uplifting and haunting.
They seamlessly mix original Celtic songs with traditional music
in much the same way as you'd hear Loreena McKennit do the same.

They seem to have a fondness for W.B. Yeats as they have a couple
Yeat's songs in their list of music. They beautifully perform
Yeat's "Down by the Sally Gardens" with an almost opera-like
beauty, but with eloquent simplicity. I love this song in
general, but hearing thier version makes me want to redo ours.
It's fantastic. Slow, subtle and magical.

4. Rise - "Time and Tide"
http://www.efolkmusic.com/ViewArtist.asp?Artist=Rise
=================================================

One of the hottest Celtic bands to come out of Scotland is
the band Rise. I first heard about Rise in a feature at
eFolkMusic something called the "Buffalo Song". I thought
that an odd song title for a Celtic band. I listened, and I
was enamored. Rise eloquently combines the traditional and the
modern to create a refreshing Celtic Pop/Rock sound. And no song
on their album does it better than "Time and Tide".

"Time and Tide" is a song based on an adaptation of 'The
snowy-breasted pearl', a poem by George Petrie. But the song is
sung using Robert Burns style of language and combined with
modern instrumentation, including a wailing, ethereal electric
guitar that weaps of passion. The lyrics retell an old story, but
unlike some of Burns' work the lyrics are understandable. The
result is an incredible song that easily blends Celtic magic with
modern ingenuity.

5. Fiddlin' Around
http://www.starchart.com/
=================================================

This is a slightly off the traditional Celtic charts. Fiddlin'
around is website and newsletter dedicated to traditional
acoustic American Roots Music. Some of it includes the music
you'd hear on the "O' Brother, Where Art Thou" soundtrack. It
also includes Bluegrass which is an American offshoot of
traditional Celtic music. Editor, Steve Robertson has done an
amazing job and finding great music and puts his blood, sweat and
tears in the newsletter. That means quality reading.
