"I love the new compilation CD! That group Widening Gyre is
amazing... Thanks for your review!!!" -Sarah

Well, we're heading down to Corpus Christi, Texas for the
weekend. We've a gig at a Cassidy's Irish Pub down there, but
more than anything, I'm hoping to hit the beach. It's been too
long since I sent my summers in Hawaii, soaking up the sun
and Hawaiian music (my parents lived there). Hmm? Maybe one
day I'll write a good Hawaiian Irish song? That'd be
interesting.

Until then, I have some more fun music for you to enjoy your
weekend.

P.S. The Celtic Music Directory is coming along. I'll have the
first edition soon, so make sure you submit your music or
favorite band at http://www.CelticMP3s.com/submit/

2. Brobdingnagian Bards - "Health to the Company"
http://www.thebards.net/
http://mp3.com/thebards?cm
=================================================

The Brobdingnagian Bards are The Original Celtic Renaissance duo
combining unique instrumentation (autoharp, recorder & mandolin)
with a romantic, comical meal that'll leave you hungry for more.
Celtic drinking songs for breakfast. Fantasy, filk and dragon
sandwiches for lunch. And an extra helping of JRR Tolkien-esque
instrumentals for dinner.

They are the #1 Celtic band on MP3.com with nearly Two Million
MP3s downloaded making them one of the Top 25 bands on
MP3.com...out of over 200,000!

"Health to the Company" is a traditional Irish/Scottish parting
song most commonly heard in maritime communities. But it's somber
relfection of times past with good friends has made it an
absolute favorites at Renaissance Festivals. I've heard it
recorded by The Chieftains and the Minstrels of Mayhem, but oddly
enough, there are very few MP3s of this song anywhere online,
which is one of the reasons I was so anxious to record it and
add it to our CD of Renaissance Faire favorites, "A Faire To
Remember".

If you enjoy the Brobdingnagian Bards' music, please consider
voting for them in the Best of Austin Poll. More info at

4. Uisce Beatha - "Mary Mac"
http://www.uiscebeatha.net/
http://mp3.com/Uisce_Beatha_IAPM?cm
=================================================

Uisce Beatha (ish keh ba ha) is a Gaelic term. Transliterated,
it means " Water of Life," but in usage it means a distilled
liquor, indigenous to the Celtic nations of Ireland and Scotland.
The English mispronunciation, "whiskey" is more familiar to most.
Uisce Beatha also seems to be a fairly popular name for an Irish
band, bu tthis particular band is based in Richmond, Virginia
and play "Irish American Pub Music".

This song is recorded live in a pub. It has all the advantages
of a live recording with background cheers and high-energy that
is often missing from studio recordings. It starts off with a
very slow instrumental build-up before starting into a fiery
explosion of the song at break-neck speed with audience
singing and cheering along.

Due to the rough recording of this live song, make sure you
listen at HiFi to get the full experience.
