"I love the new compilation CD! That group Widening Gyre is
amazing... Thanks for your review!!!" -Sarah

I added a new section this week. It's specifically set up for
new releases. Find out who's releasing what. I'll only list a
few of the top most interesting releases. But two of MP3.com's
top Celtic bands have fairly new releases, so go check 'em out.

2. Clandestine - "Babylon"
http://www.io.com/clandestine/
http:/mp3.com/Clandestine?cm
=================================================

One of the hottest bands to hit the Celtic music scene in the
past few years, Clandestine broke boundaries and shook up
audiences everywhere combining innovative and powerful tunes with
some of the best songwriting the Celtic world has seen to date!

Clandestine evolved from a pipe and drum ensemble back in 1991.
Somewhere on the way, vocalist Jen and bagpipe EJ Jones started
playing together, added Gregory McQueen and Emily Dugas and boom
the band as we know it was born. They started off as one of the
hottest bands at Texas Renaissance Festival before they spent
three years of constant touring. During that time, they garnered
incredible press and penetrated the Celtic charts and airwaves.

"Babylon" is one of the many gems from their second CD, "To
Anybody At All". It features innovative dual vocals by Jen and
Emily that gives it a mesmerizing sound. Add to that the lyrics
were taken from variety of Irish and American children's rhymes.
The song is magical and delight to hear live and on their CD.

Now the bad news...

At the end of this year, the world will suffer a horrible shock
when they realize that Clandestine will no longer be performing!
Don't get caught without a copy of their albums. Order them
today!

4. Brendan Carey Block - "Morrison's Set"
http://www.scottishmusician.com/brendan/
http:/mp3.com/BrendanCareyBlock?cm
=================================================

Brendan Carey Block is one of the neweset to join the ranks of
young musicians who are dominating the Celtic music world. US
National Junior Scottish Fiddle Champion and three-time New
England Champion, Brendan, now 17 years old, plays in a dynamic,
high-energy Cape Breton style and is a very popular performer at
concerts, festivals, and Highland Games. He's performed with top
names in the Celtic music scene including: The Battlefield Band,
Cherish the Ladies, Matapat, The Glengarry Bhoys, and Gaelic
Storm, as well many of Cape Breton's top artists.

The "Morrison's Set" is opens up with Morrison's Jig, then it
really takes off as he busts into several reels including:
Morning Dew, Tarbolton Lodge, Hull's Reel, Charlie's Brother, and
Down the Broom Maudabawn Chapel. The music flows exceptionally
well with his dad, Rich Block on guitar and Jason Roach adding
some piano work near the end. Brendan smokes in this song and my
one regret is that it isn't yet available on any CD!

5. Demise of Celtic Radio
=================================================

I had planned to feature the Barry the Hat Show this week,
but after checking the website, it appears that the Barry
the Hat Show is another site that has been killed by CARP.

The 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act was passed to give
artists royalties for online radio play. Unfortunately, the
rates have killed many stations including this one.

On the bright side, many are still perservering, including
two of my favorites:

Highlander Radio

Ren Radio
