1. Celtic Music News
=================================================

I heard last week that the Milwaukee IRISHFEST hosted
over 130,000 people last week. No doubt last week's feature
3 Pints Gone made a killer impression at the festival. And
after hearing that you can bet we're gonna do our best to
get up there next year!

Meanwhile, we have two new sponsors this week. Please take
a minute to check them out. My sponsors are what keep this
newsletter running. If ye see something you like, buy it!
I'm certain you'll love what you see. I mean, who doesn't
want to copy DVD movies to CD? You can play the CD
ANYWHERE, not so with DVDs.

Thanks for your continued support, Slainte'!

P.S. Bad news for Brobdingnagian Bards fans. The Sweet Eugene's gig
in
College Station was accidentally double
booked so we have had to reschedule for September 7th.

2. Emerald Rose - "Star of the County Down"

=================================================

Next weekend, Georgia's #1 Celtic band, Emerald Rose, will
join the Brobdingnagian Bards and other great Celtic bands
at Dragon*Con, America's largest Science Fiction convention.
This four-man ensemble from North Georgia, plays Celtic
traditional and original music inspired by the folkore and
mythology of the British Isles. They specializes in high-energy
renditions of Celtic tunes, plus original compositions ranging
from mystical/reflective to humorous and bawdy.

Their latest release, "Star of the County Down" is an awesome
track from "Fire in the Head" a live CD that they recorded last
year when they packed Atlanta's #1 concert venue, the Variety
Playhouse...where they headlined for Scottish folk legend,
Andy M. Stewart. This is the newest generation of Celtic bands
who you can expect to hear a lot more from.

And if you want to get to know the band on a personal level,
make sure you visit their website where you can find out more
about their "Myth and Legend Tour of Ireland" next April. They
are now accepting reservations.

3. HOT CELTIC MUSIC CDS & MORE
Lunasa - "Lunasa"
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005LN2I/thebards
=================================================

In October 1997, Ireland's all-star quintet Lúnasa released their
first CD 'Lúnasa', a mix of concert and studio tracks gathered
from their prolific year together. It was immediately hailed as
one of the finest, freshest recordings of Irish music in years,
called "moving, pulsating, and thrilling to the very marrow" by
Folk Roots and "a true must-have disc" by the Irish Voice. From
the start, Lúnasa met with instant acclaim. Their first album
became an immediate best-seller in Ireland, topping Hot Press'
folk charts and nominated one of the year's top ten by the Irish
Echo in the USA.

Since that auspicious beginning, Lúnasa has become one of the
most sought-after bands on the international Irish music scene.
The band's inventive arrangements and bass-driven grooves are
steering Irish acoustic music into surprising new territory. On
their first American visit, word-of-mouth led to sold-out shows
and rave reviews. "A standing-room only crowd in New York
confirmed Lúnasa's reputation," wrote the Irish Voice." This is
the hottest Irish acoustic group on the planet."

4. Jennifer Clarke Skromeda - "Island Spinning Song & Band O'
Shearers"
http://www.wildmountainthyme.ca/
http://mp3.com/Jennifer?cm
=================================================

The words 'impressive', 'compelling' and 'amazing' are just some
of comments you hear when this Canadian Celtic Folk Singer takes
the stage. Equally exciting and versatile whether performing
alone or with her band, "Wild Mountain Thyme", Jennifer Clarke
Skromeda is one of the most engaging acts on the Celtic scene.
She is especially known for her 'striking' a cappella singing.

Jennifer's flexible performance style has made her a natural for
all event types from intimate house concerts and coffeehouses to
the likes of the West End Cultural Centre, the Winnipeg Folk
Festival and Festival du Voyageur. CBC Manitoba produced a
full-length interview with selections from Jennifer's latest CD,
"THE GREAT SILKIE -Tales of the Celts" for 'Art's Encounters' and
'Culture Shock' in the summer of 2001. In addition to
significant regional and national airplay, Jennifer and her
recordings have also been featured in Scotland on Isles FM and
the BBC.

This set of vocal songs is amazing and no doubt will be enjoyed
anyone who loves percussion. It begins with the "Island Spinning
Song" featuring some fantastic diddling. Then in busts Blair
McEvoy of the Dust Rhinos providing some great untraditional
percussion while Jennifer breaks into the second Scottish song
"Band O' Shearers". The set is exquisitely sung with Loreena
McKennit-like vocals and modern percussion. Wow! This song is
a new favorite!

A monthly eZine dedicated to Irish/Celtic/Folk Punk including
such bands as Blood or Whiskey, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly,
Greenland Whale Fisheries, The Pogues, The Real McKenzies, Shane
MacGowan, The Skels" and more. You'll find some great music
reviews and my personal favorite is their news section. You just
don't find a lot of Celtic music news online that is beyond local
news. So this is nice treat. Looks
