1. Celtic Music News
=================================================
Whew! These past few weeks have been busy. We had a fantastic
time performing at Dragon*Con to hundreds of new fans. Needless
to say, I've not had a chance to update things here. But at
last, here's the latest issue.
Today, I'm pleased to introduce a song by Scottish folksinger,
Carl Peterson, and a song that's not quite Celtic, but great
nonetheless from Celtic Rock band, Brother.

2. Carl Peterson - "Down in the Glen"
http://darachweb.com/carlpeterson/
http://mp3.com/Carl_Peterson?cm
=================================================
A performance by Carl Peterson, whether for a few thousand people
or for a few dozen, is best described as a warm, everyone
involved, familiar evening-at-home experience. And home is where
Carl was first introduced to music and song. He learned the
traditional songs of Scotland, Ireland, and England, as well as
contemporary music of the times, from family and friends alike.
After learning to play guitar and banjo, Peterson added American
folk songs and storytelling to his repertoire, and took it all
from Scotland to Canada, then later to America, via radio and
television and live performances.
Last time, I reviewed a song by Carl Peterson, I was trying to
find a downloadable song from his latest album "Remember the
Alamo" which shows the Scottish influence in that great battle.
Unfortunately, the only song I found was an instrumental piece.
That was a great shame. Because while the tune was a fun one,
it is Carl Peterson's vocals that really stand out.
So this week, I'd like to present a traditional Scottish song
called "Down in the Glen" sung by Carl Peterson. This song
comes from one of his many CDs, "My Ain Folk". It's a sweet
love song about a shepherd in his version of "heaven", a glen
with the lassie he loves. It's filled with beautiful imagery,
but what shines the most is Carl's smooth, crystalline voice.
Carl sings the song with love and gentleness. I feel pretty
confident in saying that any woman having the joy of hearing
Carl Peterson sing is bound to fall in love.

3. HOT CELTIC MUSIC CDS & MORE
Great Big Sea - "Sea of No Cares"
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000060OI8/thebards
=================================================
Great Big Sea went out on tour this summer with Seven Nations,
and at long last, the United States has a better understanding
of what Canada has known for a while. Great Big Sea is awesome!
Their latest album, "Sea of No Cares" blends Celtic melodies with
driving acoustic guitar and excellent vocal harmonies. Like their
concerts, they'll smoothly go from a contemporary Pop Rock to
a Celtic seafaring ballad. Bewarned: Once you buy one album,
you won't want to stop there!

4. Brother - "Crazy (just like everyone)"
http://www.brothermusic.com/
http://mp3.com/BROTHER?cm
=================================================
BROTHER blends the ancient with the contemporary, creating a
unique mix of rock & roll with strong tribal influences.
Combining traditional rock instruments (electric guitars and
drums) with the haunting and captivating sounds of the bagpipe
and didgeridoo, the band, as Music Connection says, "stirs a
primitive, primal passion."
Straight from their latest EP, "Crazy" by Brother is not your
typical Celtic Rock song. It sounds like something you might
hear on an Adult Alternative station. There's a touch of their
trademark didgeridoo and a brief bagpipe solo, but for the most
part this is a Alternative Pop Rock at it's best, designed to
break into the Alt Rock market. And it does a great job too,
complete with a pounding drum beat and dashing guitars. And like
many Alt Rock songs, it's filled with a great message too.
"You can say I'm crazy, but in the end I'm just like
everyone. What's sane about sitting alone absorbed in your
computer? Yet millions of us around the world repeat this ritual
every day."
