perennial favorite. Some other features will be coming in

Canon PowerShot S30
http://amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005QFZF/thebards?ref=nosim
I got the camera a couple days ago and have been trying it
out. It is fantastic! It has ton of features from the typical
red-eye removal to AVI video recording. Plus, it works
great for taking low light shots. Unlike past digital cameras
I've used this one has a lot of customization features, as if
you wanted to take a 35mm picture. I love that. But it's just
as easy to get up and start shooting snapshots to upload to
your computer. Fantastic camera!

2. Celtic Music Band Feature #1

Steve Holloway - "Camels in Kansas"
http://mp3.com/steve_holloway?cm
For the past few years, Steve Holloway has worked primarily with
Irish and Scottish bands. In 1995, Seamus Egan called him to
play on some tracks at Sigma Sound in Philadelphia that ended
up on the soundtrack to the hit movie, "The Brothers McMullen."
After that, he worked on a number of other recording projects
including Seamus' solo CD, "When Juniper Sleeps", Cathie Ryan,
Jerry O'Sullivan, Karan Casey and Whiligig. Greg Anderson from
Whiligig suggested he learn to play bodhran, and he and Seamus
both gave Steven bodhrans to practice on.
That helped him out a couple of years later Bill Whelan asked
Steve to work on Riverdance while they were on Broadway in New
York. He played over 200 performances on bodhran, percussion and
drumset. About that time, he started playing with Solas, and has
since done several national tours with them.
But I had the fortune to meet Steve last week at NTIF. He was
playing bodhran for Cathie Ryan. He stopped by our booth and gave
me his CD. I took it home, listened and fell in love. The album
is fantastic! Nine tracks of incredible Celtic dance tunes
featuring Steve on percussion and some fantastic performers,
including former Celtic MP3s feature, Bonnie Rideout. Take a
moment to listen to a his MP3s and you'll be hooked!

"Lunasa" by Lunasa
http://amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005LN2I/thebards?ref=nosim
In 1997, Lunasa exploded into the traditional Irish music scene
with this self-titled debut. Their music explores the subtle
fhythmic variations and harmonies often implied in old tunes. The
music is rich and vibrant and brings new life. This album
established Lunasa as one of the premiere traditional Celtic
music groups in the world, and the energy and exhuberance in the
performance shows. Pure Irish dance music. Any one who loves
Pure-Drop Irish Trad music will absolutely LOVE this CD!
I had the fortune of seeing Lunasa perform at the North Texas
Irish Festival last weekend, they were phenomenal! I'd love to
get them for the Austin Celtic Festival, first weekend of November!

Ian Gallagher - "Danny Boy"
http://mp3.com/Ian_A_Gallagher?cm
Ian Gallagher, originally from Arigna Co Roscommon, has been
entertaining audiences all over the New York Tri State area for
the past 35 years. Through the early 60's he played in a number
of part-time bands in Ireland, until he emigrated to the US in
1963. His smooth voice enthralls entire audiences He plays a
wide range of material Ian's repertoire ranges from Irish
favorites, American Standards and pop from the 50's to the
present and almost anything you can name. Ian currently lives
in New Jersey where he performs locally with his band and all
over the United States with the Paddy Noonan Band.
A few months back, I got a CD in the mail from Ian Gallagher.
At first, I didn't know what to make of it. I'm so used to
getting Celtic music CDs from pure drop Celtic musicians or
Celtic Rock groups that this was a total surprise. It was, well,
jazz...or sorta Vaudevillian-era Irish, or something like that?
But after a couple songs, I caught myself smiling. His music is
absolutely delightful! So when I saw he made it to MP3.com, I
knew he was someone to feature for a pre-St. Patrick's Day
newsletter.
