1. Celtic Music News
=========================
Boy the Fall is a busy time. We're spending every weekend at
the Texas Renaissance Festival outside of Houston, and thusfar,
it has been a heckuva run. Perfect weather, solid attendance,
and growing audiences at our shows. We're about halfway through
the run, and I just don't want it to end. Well, that's the way
of it.
I have been back on the MP3 warpath hunting down some great MP3s
like the ones in todays issue. Next issue, we'll go back to some
more traditional music, but right now, Celtic rock and bluegrass!
Remember to show your support for the Celtic MP3s Music Magazine
and check out my store. You can now get the cover to "Coventina's
Well" on a T-Shirt that looks fantastic! Check it out at

2. Celtic Music Band Feature #1

"Kingsword" by Heather Dale
http://www.mp3.com/Heather_Dale?cm
http://www.HeatherDale.com/
Heather Dale is Modern Celtic singer-songwriter, inspired by
ancient legends and life. Her songs range from powerful Celtic
folk-rock, to haunting ballads. Already well-known on MP3.com for
her incredible vocals reminisecent of Loreena McKennit, Heather
is back with a new album and a powerful new sound. A few months
ago, she put together a Celtic rock group that did a wee bit
o'touring. It's on a hiatus right now, but the songs I've heard
from that album thusfar are wonderful like "The Kingsword".
King Arthur's sword Excalibur was once called the Sword in the
Stone -- the sorceror Merlin had driven it into a boulder, and no
one except the true King of Britain could remove it. This song
tells the tale of Excalibur with a driving sound. Make sure you
also drop by her website to read the stories. Heather is also an
exquisite Arthurian storyteller in addition to her medieval lore
and on and on. The woman is incredible!

"On Fire [Live]" by Black 47
http://amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005OKSQ/thebards?ref=nosim
Black 47 came together in 1989 playing a benefit concert for
a political activist. During the set, someone in the audience
shouted to them to play something Irish. Singer and frontman,
Larry Kirwan, told the man he was Irish and shut up and listen.
Since then Black 47 has been at the forefront of Celtic scene
as one of the most controversial bands around and the biggest
secret in great Celtic rock, recording eight albums combining
an eclectic mix of rock, reggae, hip-hop and downtown noise
fused with Irish traditional music.

4. Celtic Music Band Feature #2
=========================
"Ghost Of The Molly Maguires" by Hair of the Dog
http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/152/hair_of_the_dogceltic.html
http://www.celticmp3s.com/cgi-bin/celtic_music/jump.cgi?ID=558
Hair of the Dog is a five-piece band with celtic, bluegrass and
folk influences. The guys have steadily built a huge following
based on their hard-driving sound and the fact that they cater to
audiences of all ages.
While adding lots of new bands to my directory I came back to
Hair of the Dog and couldn't help but get sucked back into this
fun live recording from their 2001 release. Great bluegrass
version of this old miner song mixed with some fantastic
harmonies. Yeah... this is what it's all about.
