Hello-

Greg Vaden here formerly of elmoTHUMM. I'd like to thank all of those that
supported this years round of AcappellaFest concerts happening here in the
Midwest. If you missed the concerts held in Chicago, Detroit, and Ohio...I'll
hope to see you next year! A special thanks to all those artists that
contributed their talents. Without you, there is no AcappellaFest. All you
High Schoolers interested in participating, keep sending us your demos for entry
next year.

My new group, THUMMp, is rehearsing and readying ourselves for next year as
well. We'll look forward to seeing you all from the stage again then. Until
then, check out AF or THUMMp on facebook for details on 2011 events and KEEP
SINGING!

Seeking singers to form an A Cappella Group!

I'm looking to form an a cappella group in the Chicagoland area/suburbs that
will sing great inspirational music and be serious about putting ourselves out
there!

The main requirements are adaptability, being able to hold you own on a part and
a passion for making music and performing!

I am looking for form a group of 4 to 6 members (SATB, SSAA, or SSAT) vocal
parts and percussion.

Arranging skills and sight-reading ability is a plus, but not necessary.

The success of this will depend on the hard-work and dedication of
it's members.

Commitment: Weekly or every 2 weeks practices for 2-3 hours
and a flexible schedule for any performances is certainly desirable.

Please send me an e-mail if you're interested - Hope to hear from you!

We're looking for some talented voices. If you're a 1st tenor, bass or vocal
percussionist, we'd love to hear you! Arranging, site-reading and keyboard
skills (for rehearsal only, of course) are a plus, but not required. Kazoo or
bagpipe skills are frowned upon, and may or may not affect your acceptance into
the group.

Vocal Chaos is an all-male semi-pro group, meaning we all have full-time jobs,
but make time to rehearse weekly, and perform as often as we can. We sing a wide
variety of music, from classic to contemporary rock, with some other odds & ends
thrown in. Our main goal is to have fun singing wherever and whenever we can. If
you're looking to get into a group to make money, we may not be the group for
you, but we have TONS of fun together.

If you're interested in auditioning, please send an e-mail to
auditions@... with the following information:

Name
Contact Information
The vocal part(s) you sing
MP3 samples or links to media showing us an example of what you can do, if
available.

We can't wait to hear you!

As a leading supplier of choral music recordings we will be having a booth at
the upcoming American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) convention in Chicago.

http://acda.org/conferences/2011

I am looking for some extra people to help set up and staff the booth and to
assist with sales and customer service.

I need people on Tuesday March 8th thru Saturday March 12th. Would prefer
somebody who could at least work a couple of those days.

I also need help with transporting the merchandise from the ship to warehouse to
the venue on the Tuesday morning. Should fit in a minivan or pickup truck.

For singers and fans of a cappella this convention is very interesting and I can
probably also get comp tickets to any of the shows you might want to attend.

Please contact me for further information.

Thanks,

Hello A Cappella fans-

In 2002, I put together a show featuring Chapter 6, Fourth Avenue and elmoTHUMM.
Then, it was called "Best of the Midwest Acappella Fest." Later in 2007, I
started AcappellaFest with Jeff Swearingen and the rest, as they say, is
history. Well, as AcappellaFest moves into its 5th season, I have decided to
leave AF Chicago focusing on my new group, THUMMp, and our own show right here
in the Detroit area known as "THUMMp presents...An Evening of A Cappella."

So, if you were an elmoTHUMM fan, you can still get out and enjoy THUMMp. Join
us on facebook by searching THUMMp. My very special thanks to Scott Leonard,
Jeff, Andrew Blendermann, The Bobs, The Schaumburg Center, Chapter 6, Blue
Jupiter, and all the fantastic groups and HS groups that have helped make
Acappellafest a great show over the years. I look forward to seeing many of you
again in the near future.

KEEP SINGING.

Greetings!

The 2012 Chicago Harmony Sweepstakes is coming up in March, and we're starting to gather information about eligible a cappella groups.  This e-mail is going out to as many Midwest groups as we know of, and we're trying to fill in the gaps in our "knowledge base".  Some groups may have changed their contact information - please forward this e-mail to your main contact, and let us know their name and e-mail address.  Some groups may have changed e-mail addresses, or added a new website (or Facebook, or MySpace page) - we'd like to know about that.  And a few groups, sadly, may no longer be together - in that case, let us know if you'd like us to remove your e-mail address from our list.

A more official entry form will be following this e-mail, but here's a few things you should know in the meantime:

  • The show is Saturday, March 31st, 2012 at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, IL, at 7:30 pm.
  • The deadline for receiving entries is January 6th, 2012.
  • All groups will need to submit an audition recording with at least two songs (MP3s preferred, CDs acceptable), a photo, and a biography.
  • Groups must have at least three and no more than EIGHT members.

About 8 or 9 groups will be selected from the entries to perform in the March regional contest.  If your entry is selected, we will need an entry fee of $10 per person per group.  Yes, you can enter via e-mail - more information is available at our local Chicago info site: www.blenderful.com/sweeps.

If you've entered the Sweeps before and your information hasn't changed, you're all set.  But if you're new to the Sweeps, or if you'd like to update your group contact information in any way, please reply to this e-mail.  We try to do as much via e-mail as possible (thus the importance of digital recordings).  And please spread the word to any other a cappella groups you know - the more the merrier!

Note:   The Sweeps will now accept groups up to EIGHT members!  In years past, we could only accept up to 7, which eliminated a lot of mixed groups (SSAATTBB).  With the higher limit, I'm hoping we'll see all sorts of new groups come out of the woodwork!

If you've never opened .PDF files before, you can get a reader from www.acrobat.com.  If you have problems with receiving attachments, or with printing out the .PDF files, please contact us and we'd be happy to send you the forms by mail (it's just faster and cheaper this way).
