This sad news has already been reported on a bunch of other Cle
lists and boards today, but I will post it here as well because it
bears a special relation to this list. Harold Freshour,
aka "H", "Ayche" or aychepling, who was a WRUW-FM DJ, Church of the
SubGenius member, avant-garde rock expert, olde Death of Samantha
fan and all-around nice guy, has reportedly died, age 41, of unknown
causes.
I have a soft spot in my heart for this dude because he joined this
list in its infancy, before Verde started beefing up its tour and
publicity machine for _Easy Listening_, back in the days when I was
basically running around the net, Napster, anywhere else I could
find trying to browbeat people into joining the Yahoo group. (Why,
I do not know. I was very bored that year and I guess it beat
sticking lighted bamboo wedges under my fingernails - But anyway,)
When I met this guy onlist he told me that he had been at the very
first Death of Samantha Ground Round show and proceeded to scan and
send me some swell pictures of it, in which John looks all of 17 (he
probably was about 17, actually) from the ol' Negative Print 'zine.
He also noted that I was posting a lot of idiotic links on this list
at the time (since I hadn't a blog to post them in) and invited me
over to his own mailing list where there were three times as many
idiotic links. He was a very cool individual and although we never
actually got to meet I enjoyed my online interaction with him. He
always had good things to say about Cobra Verde too.
I understand there is some sort of tribute show to him on WRUW-FM
tonight and possibly tomorrow done by his friend. If you get a
chance listen, you'll probably hear some cool weird music.
RIP Ayche

I didn't notice any mention of Harold on the site (as of this moment), but it looks like a pretty cool station. I like their motto: More Music. Fewer Hits. ...

Sorry to hear this. What did he look like? (I know there were a lot of dedicated DOS fans that I'd recognize if I saw them, but never learned their names.)...
