He's played NYC a bunch of times in the past 24 months
(mostly with buddy Jesse Malin), and I finally got to
see him a few months ago at the Mercury Lounge ON THE
NIGHT JOHNNY RAMONE DIED.
Tommy announced the death to the crowd, there was a
shudder, and Tommy ended up drinking a few too many
whiskeys onstage. The set was OK, maybe a little
maudlin after the announcement, then he ended with the
old Dolls warhorse "Can't Leave a Memory Behind" or
whatever the fuck it is.
I think his best material was the Perfect material
that never got released in '96 but was just released
in '04.
His other songs were just kinda journeyman rock. But
his attitude's still fine.
Paul still plays better covers. Even if it *is* the
fucking Partridge Family these days...!
By the way, Danny, you GOTTA read this Westerberg
interview - it's Paul at his most revealing, and it's
cool because of it.

I think Danny and I are just gonna take over this list
and call it "Music we like from 1977-1987" :-)
