This is my reply to the only "disappointed" listener so far who wrote in. (Googling his name found references to his having served on an aircraft carrier before it was decommission in 1947.)

Hi Edward,

Thank you for listening to Concerto of Deliverance and your message in response. The webmaster forwarded to me, the commissioner and executive producer of the album, your brief comment -- and I feel it's worth learning more about why, and maybe to help you find some pleasure from it, like I hoped someone would, who first heard the samples and went on to purchase it. I'm aware that, because of the diverse musical background of new listeners, not everyone will like it -- some not at first, and some, never. But I hope many who give it a chance, would like something in it, because of the broad audience for which the music was created.

I know that an affirmative musical experience is a complex state, dependent on an interplay of the listener, the environment, and the music itself. Some degree of harmony must exist among the three for there to be a possibility of affinity and enjoyment. I know very little about you, or the setting in which you first heard the music, but I do know much about the music, having heard it hundreds of times with pleasure. (And other listeners like it, too.) So I would appreciate knowing a little more about why you were "terribly disappointed" the first time, and whether you heard anything that may attract you to want to listen again.

I wonder what was your initial expectation and how that was disappointed. Was it, perhaps, the expectation that the music would be solely in the style of traditional classical music? Were you prepared for the blending of classical/modern sounds as exemplified by the samples? Did not any of the moods and tempos suit you? Were all of the numerous melodies not appealing? Were you anticipating an immediate "deliverance" but didn't receive it? What have been your musical preferences before this?

Thank you.

Monart
