I knew that my cross-posting the message outside the christian
objectivist list would risk my being read as a christian sympathizer or
as a compromising objectivist. But no, I'm neither. My cross-posting was
to illustrate how I would approach "christian objectivists" in a
benevolent and encouraging way.
The people on that list are not objectivists who are trying to become
christians, but are fortunate christians trying to become objectivists.
They are at an interim developmental stage where they can't let go
completely the christianity they grew up with, and yet are attracted to
the objectivism they've discovered. No all christians, upon finding and
wanting objectivism, can endure radical surgery to severe totally at
once their christian influences, so they try to find compatibility
between the two. For some of them, at a later stage, as they
"rehabilitate", their objectivist influences (because of objectivism's
logic and rationality) override the old christian elements and they
become more consistent objectivists. For others, they never can leave
christianity; alas, it may too late for them.
My post to the c-o list was to encourage them to have more objectivism
in their mix (and to remind them of the Concerto of Deliverance album
available). By conveying the romanticism of objectivism in a "religious"
way, I am hoping to further their journey along. I was trying to help
them build bridges from their christian past to their objectivist future.
