Dear IFS Readers,

I hope this email finds you well.

Thank you for all the compliments and thank you's you wrote me about
the last IFS issue. Since I don't make any money from doing IFS,
compliments and thank you's are one of the ways I get paid. I
appreciate it very much. Also again, I deeply thank Allen Shamblin
for allowing me to share his words with you. He's an inspiration to
us all.

Sunday I found out that a song I wrote with IFS reader Betsy Foster
called "We Ran Out of Time" that Denny Martin produced got forwarded
on songu.com latest Spin N' Pitch opportunity

This month our guest is a Broadway actor (currently appearing
in "Phantom Of The Opera" on Broadway). Coincidentally, Phantom is
in the theater right next to where Urban Cowboy had its run. Anyway,
this is a direct pitch-to-artist. He is going to be recording his
own album and is seeking the following types of songs:

"Josh Groban style pop (aka. legit adult contemporary pop). Songs
that are somewhat poppy, but really need a trained singer. Songs
should have a dramatic feel, that has the possibility to be
orchestrated. They can be inspirational songs as well."

You can submit up to 3 songs for this Spin N' Pitch opportunity.
Submit your songs prior to Tuesday, March 1st. More details are
available in the "My Pitching" section of the website.

Here's songu.com's email:

Dear Ande

Good news! Your song 'we ran out of time rough 030916' has been
forwarded by a SongU screener for the current Spin N' Pitch. Although
this does not ultimately guarantee success with your song, it does
represent an important step in the process -- it means that our
screener felt your song was a strong, competitive, commercially
viable song that deserves to be forwarded.

You will receive further email notification after your song has been
listened to by the special guest to let you know whether or not they
express an interest in your song.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our staff.
Keep up the good work!

Best wishes,
The Spin N' Pitch Staff

Remember the Pitch to a Christian Producer opportunity?

I received this feedback from the producer
He wrote:

Just put this word out. "Real"
I want real, honest stuff,
almost stuff that you'd be scared of saying in church,
but is what you really feel about life, God, and
how a Christian deals with the world.

He also added
Ande, take a listen to Nichole Nordeman's album
"This Mystery". You might consider buying it.
I consider her to be the premier Christian songwriter.

Hey ande,

That's so strange about Idgy's backup vocalists.

I spent my freshman year in college at McLennon Community College in
Waco with a girl who was just beginning and trying her wings as a
singer/songwriter. I attended her very first recital, where she was
so nervous she almost didn't go out on stage.

Ruthie Foster was her name. And from what I hear, she's gotten a bit
more confidence since then. Was incredible back then.
