Do ya got the goods?

Dear IFS Readers,

I hope you are doing great.

This Sunday, June 19th 7:30 pm I'll be at the San Marcos River Pub,
in San Marcos enjoying enjoying john Arthur martinez. John Athur
just had his debeut on the Grand Old Opry.
How cool is that? Way to go.

Last week I had lunch with Jessa Frith and her mother. Jessa will be
attending UT in the fall. I found out her original songs played on
the following shows.
"Great Big Nothin" on CBS King of The Hill, May, 2005 and
"Misery Agrees With Me" on Joan of Arcadia, April 2005

Recently I've been corresponding with IFS reader and lyricist Jenna
Lee. She used to live in NYC and now she's in LA. Jenna's cowritten
songs with nile rogers, russ desalvo,
joe mardin, tanya leah and terry silverlight. She's looking to
cowrite with a few talented folks.

I'd never heard of Tanya Leah, so I googled her and I found out that
she is a wonderful songwriter and artist. some of her cuts are:
"I WILL BE" - recorded by Wynonna Judd, Lila McCann, and Michael
English
"THAT SUMMER SONG" - recorded by Blue County
"STAND" - recorded by Susan Ashton
http://tanyaleah.com/
http://cdbaby.com/cd/tanyaleah

So I dropped by CD baby and checked her out and was quite impressed
so I ordered her CD.

Thanks to everyone who wrote listened to and comments on "Ain't Gonna
Stop." IFS reader MEZ has agreed to create a rock n roll demo of it
so I'll put it on the web when it arrives. I'm quite impressed with
Mez, his songs, his productions and he's gotten several of his songs
placed on TV shows. www.musicmez.com

I'm looking for a talented songwriter / artist / performer who might
want to cowrite an interesting song based on Frank Sinatra with me.
Email me if you're interested and I'll check you out.

You'll find some great stuff in this issue.

Your friend in song,

Ande

a note from Ande

The organizer told me he's working on next years cruise and the
company is quoting him $700 just for the ship cost, so this looks
like quite a bargain. A nice vacation + plus a songwriting workshop.

Just a reminder that if you want to be a voting member of the grammy
organization in the songwriting category, you must qualify by having
six credits. 6 Credits means 6 songs you wrote or cowrote need to be
on nationallly distributed CDs. The Grammy folks verify credits at
www.allmusic.com

Here's some info on how indie artists can submit their CD to
allmusic.com to be included in their database.

How can I have my CD, DVD, or game added to the AMG database?
AMG will add any product submissions we receive to the database as
long as they are commercially available in their country of release.
The best way to ensure that your title receives full coverage is for
you to send us one copy of the product along with any relevant
promotional materials, such as press releases and artist photos. All
materials should be addressed to:

Product Submissions
All Media Guide
1168 Oak Valley Drive
Ann Arbor, MI 48108

What happens once AMG receives my product?
Your CD or DVD will go through a data entry and scanning process in
which everything from credits to track and chapter listings to cover
art will be entered into the database. AMG editors may also assign
descriptors such as genres, styles, and moods to the title. Your
product will then be stored in our archive in case there is a future
need to review, add to, or correct the data.

How long will it take for my product to appear on the AMG web site?
Your product should appear on our web site within 4-6 weeks after we
receive your materials.

My title is a theatrical film, not a physical product. Can it still
be listed in the database?
Certainly. Simply mail a press kit to the Product Submissions address
listed above.

Will AMG review or synopsize my product, or write my biography?
We try to review and synopsize as many CDs, films, and DVDs as
possible, but we can’t make any promises about which titles and
performers will receive this level of coverage. Resource constraints
make it necessary for us to prioritize coverage based on factors such
as current popularity, historical or artistic importance, and the
needs of our data licensees.

If I send you my biography or a write-up on my product, will you add
it to your database?
Our editorial policy is that all reviews, synopses, and biographies
must written by AMG staff and freelance contributors, so we cannot
use copy supplied by artists and labels or studios. This copy is very
helpful to us as research material, though, so please do send it
along.

Who can I contact regarding the status of my submission?
You may inquire about the status of your product submission via
postal mail or email (Product_Submissions@...), but due to
the volume of inquiries we receive, we cannot guarantee a personal
response. Phone inquiries are not accepted. We are also unable to
grant requests that your title be moved up in priority or entered
into the database within a specific time frame, but rest assured that
all commercially available titles submitted will be entered on a
first-come, first-served basis.

My product information is appearing on your website, but not on some
of the e-commerce sites you supply data to. Can you fix that?
If your product is appearing on the AMG website that means the data
is available for our licensees to use. It is up to each AMG licensee
to determine what products they present. Any questions you have about
the presentation of your product on a licensee’s website should be
directed to that licensee.

question about what he wrote in a recent IFS,
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/DIFS/message/689

If you have any comments please email them to me.

Subj: from Jason Blume

Hi Anders -

I hope all is well. Norway was awesome -- incredibly successful --
and amazingly beautiful.

Before I left I sent you my thoughts re: what a writer can do with
a "demo" and I was wondering what other responses you received. As
I'd said, I'm having a heard time getting definitive answers.

Best regards,
Jason

I found an interesting article about senator Orrin Hatch

Songwriter Hatch scales new heights with his tunes
By Jerry Spangler Deseret Morning News

WASHINGTON — Sen. Orrin Hatch says he isn't about to give up
his day job. In fact, all indications are that the 71-year-old will
run for re-election yet again.
But the senior Republican senator from Utah is singing a new
tune. Actually, he's singing a lot of them as he relentlessly pursues
a second job as a songwriter.

"There's probably 700 or 800 of them," he said, "but only about
a hundred that have been produced. So I wouldn't call it a career."
Hatch's foray into writing inspirational and religious songs
has been well-documented. But in recent years, he's also dabbled in
writing country music and ballads, one of which, "Are You Lonely Here
With Me," he's been assured is a "sure hit" waiting to be recorded.
