Independent FEMALE country artist. SongU.com members, PLEASE direct
your pitches appropriately! The producer is a friend of ours. Here
is the email I received from him: We're very specific in what we
need right now. One song. Radio single. UPTEMPO! Gretchen meets
Tanya Tucker meets JoDee. Sassy but not male bashing. A lyric that's
empowering to young women. We DO NOT need any ballads, period. We've
already got 'em covered and recorded. I repeat...UPTEMPO - No one
can seem to get that in their head.
8/15/2006
2 - Submit
#195
Female HIP-HOP/R&B artist looking for songs to record as she shops a
deal. Songs should be appropriate for a teenager, no explicit sexual
content please.

#196
All-MALE Alt-Country band is looking for songs for a short run demo
CD on an independent label. This high powered group is primarily
looking for up tempo songs, though will consider slower tempo
pieces. The band image is best decribed as all American renegade
cowboys with a little bad boy rock and roll edge. The 23-year old
lead singer has a distinctively southern accent/drawl and a low to
mid range voice. Think George Strait meets Elvis meets Garth Brooks
and add a bit of VanZant edge.
8/31/2006
3 - Submit
#204
Four piece Bluegrass BAND featuring guitar, mando, banjo and upright
bass looking for traditional and modern bluegrass songs and gospel
bluegrass songs. Also willing to listen to other types of songs that
lend themselves to harmony singing and have 3 male singers.
8/31/2006
3 - Submit
#205
FEMALE country artist with major label interest is looking for songs
with smart lyrical content (please no redneck or alchol songs). They
should be either up tempos with an edgy-bluesy feel and driving
beats, or soulful ballads that build in intensity a la Martina
McBride or Carrie Underwood. MEMBER NOTE: We are getting special
permission to submit mp3s from this producer who is a friend of
SongU.com. Please submit appropriate material only so he stays a
friend. Thanks!

Want to submit a CD to KUT for airplay consideration?
KUT does accept unsolicited CDs. In order to be considered for
airplay, your CD must be available commercially that is, it must be
for sale on the Internet and/or in stores.
If you're wondering whether your music fits our station, take a look
at our weekly chart. You'll get an idea of the kinds of artists
that get the most spins at KUT.
Please note that KUT does not play demos or singles. Submitted CDs
should be final (artwork) copies of full albums or EPs. It's also
helpful to include a one sheet: a single piece of paper that
includes a short bio, contact information, a song list highlighting
your strongest tracks as well as any that have lyrics that the FCC
wouldn't like us to play on the radio as well as a few press quotes
(if you have them). If you are inquiring about a live appearance on
KUT as well as airplay,
please send us two copies of your CD.
Also, be aware that we receive an enormous amount of music, and we
do not have the resources to provide individual feedback on every CD
we receive. We are unable to return materials sent to us.
Materials should be sent to:
Music Director
KUT Radio
UT Austin
1 University Station, A0704
Austin, TX 78712
Any additional questions should be e-mailed to music@....

Producers & Engineers Event
Saturday, July 15, 2006
5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Location
Austin City Limits Studio
2504 B Whitis Avenue,
Austin, TX
Summary
Taking advantage of having music product industry professionals from
60 countries visiting Austin during Summer NAMM, the P&E Committee
of the Texas Chapter of The Recording Academy hosted an exclusive
event with Engineer Geoff Emerick.
The event started off with an acoustic performance by Sarah Sharp
who immediately captured the audience with her beautiful, angelic
vocals.
Geoff Emerick was behind the sound board for some of the greatest
pop music ever made: the Beatles' singles "Strawberry Fields
Forever" and "Penny Lane," and their albums Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's
Lonely Hearts Club Band, Magical Mystery Tour and Abbey Road. In
addition to his work with the Beatles, Emerick is a four-time
GRAMMY®-winner with a lengthy roster of credits that include
America, Jeff Beck, Split Enz, Supertramp, Paul McCartney, the
Zombies, and Elvis Costello. The interview was moderated by Chuck
Rainey one of the most recorded bass players in the history of
music. He has toured and/or recorded with artists including King
Curtis, Sam Cooke, Etta James, The Crusaders, The Supremes, Aretha
Franklin, Quincy Jones, Marvin Gaye, the Jackson 5, Rickie Lee
Jones, the Rascals, and Steely Dan to name a few. The event had 130
attendees, 80 of which were members. The evening concluded with
Emerick and co-author Howard Massey signing copies of Here, There
and Everywhere: My Life Recording the Music of The Beatles.
Conclusion
The buzz continues about this well received event.
Consider getting Involved with your local Grammy Chapter.
