Ever Heard of ICG?
http://www.icgcopyright.com
Integrated Copyright Group, Inc. (ICG) is an independent global
copyright licensing and administration company founded in 1990.
ICG has become a significant leader in the music publishing
community by providing full administration services for hundreds of
publishing company members throughout the world.
The purpose of ICG is to manage all types of musical copyrights to
their maximum potential through fair, yet aggressive licensing; to
produce and maintain organized legal records and documents for these
songs; to collect and distribute income accurately and on a timely
basis; and to comprehensively audit and report on all copyright
activity.
We at ICG believe the proper management of copyrights in all areas
is critical to the continued growth and well being of a publishing
catalog. Expert licensing, aggressive collections, and accurate
auditing are all necessary ingredients to this proper management. In
fact, ICG is the only known, independent U.S. licensing entity that
conducts both on-site and desktop audits on behalf of its publishing
members on a regular basis.
Over the last decade, ICG, founded by John Barker and Robert
Brumley, has attained a reputation for efficiency, trustworthiness,
and expertise in copyright administration, while maintaining
personal attention for each of its members, proving to an
authoritative alternative for global intellectual rights
representation.
General Information About Membership
ICG accepts established Publishing Companies or Societies with
control of copyrights as member clients. We are unable to affiliate
directly with songwriters, unless a writer owns and has
administrative control of his copyrights, and has established a
publishing entity to own those copyrights.
ICG's standard fee for all services defined under Services is 10% of
the gross revenue collected in the United States for all uses of the
copyrights contained in a members catalog. Foreign royalties (those
generated outside the U.S.) are less any foreign society fee and
foreign taxes, along with ICG's standard fee.
In addition to a percentage of royalty fees, ICG deducts direct
postage, photocopy and long distance expenses, along with any
necessary Copyright Office Registration fee charged by the Copyright
Office for registrations.
Because ICG's fee is a percentage of revenue collected for a
catalog, we can only accept publishing companies which generate
certain levels of royalty income.
If you are a publisher or society and are interested in membership
with ICG, you may complete the ICG Questionnaire and return by fax,
e-mail, or regular mail. If you have questions regarding membership,
or would like a Membership Packet sent to you, contact us at
info@..., or by fax or telephone.

A Note from ASG
website: http://www.austinsongwritersgroup.com
Good Day ASG'ers:
A couple of quick notes about recent and upcoming ASG events. First
of all ASG wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to our two
performers at the recent 1st Saturday Saxon Pub showcase, featuring
Gadget White and her band, and Liz Parker. We wish to also specially
commend Liz for being an outstanding professional performer in the
true spirit of "the show must go on."
For those of you who were not in attendance, there was a
communication snafu regarding the start time of the show with the
Saxon Pub sound technician, which resulted in Liz performing her
entire set without aid of any electricity, mics or lights. While it
was most assuredly NOT the ideal circumstances, Liz soldiered on
through her set, having to do battle with a couple of barflies who
were in their own world just to be heard by her many many fans in
attendance. For those of you who have not heard Liz's songs, be on
the lookout for any performances around town and check her out. She
has a great gift for storytelling and arrangement. As for ASG, Liz
we owe you one...a big one! Thanks for being so patient through the
gig and we look forward to finding an opportunity to make it up to
you and your fans, who also deserve special recognition for being a
great and attentive audience in support of Liz.
3rd Sundays @ Threadgill's: August 20 from 3-5 PM
Now, on to new business. This month's member's meeting will take
place this coming Sunday, the 20th, from 3-5 PM. We have a great
trio of songwriters on the bill including the legendary Kent Finlay
of Cheatham Street fame, along with hot Americana artist Gregg
Andrews (aka Dr. G) and song poet Missoula Slim.
Kent Finlay has hosted Cheatham Street Warehouse songwriter circles
since 1974 and has helped launch the careers of many Texas artists,
including George Strait, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Todd Snider, Terri
Hendrix and Randy Rogers to name just a few. He has been described
by his peers as the "Songwriter's Songwriter" and the "Godfather of
Texas Songwriters." He is truly a Texas legend and ASG is proud to
have him grace our stages. For more information on Kent and Cheatham
Street Warehouse, visit: http://www.cheathamstreet.com/history.html
Swapping songs with Kent is Doctor G (Gregg Andrews), whose current
album "Mudcat" is smoking up the Hot 100 Americana Album charts.
Chosen by Kent Finlay to launch his new record label, Cheatham
Street Records, Doctor G crafts songs that are part "mud fried
Mississippi river swamp" and part "Mark Twain" blended into a funky,
bluesy stew with a dash of Texas Americana thrown in for good
measure. The one word description is simply "swampytonk." For more
information on Doctor G, visit his My Space page at:
http://www.myspace.com/doctorgandthemudcats
Rounding out our trio of songwriters is Cheatham Street Warehouse
regular, Missoula Slim. Actually, Missoula Slim is ASG's very own
Board Member John Gilliam who was dubbed "Missoula Slim" some time
ago by none other than Kent Finlay and the moniker was adopted
permanently. Seems Kent has his hand in the history of all the good
songwriters. In any case, Missoula Slim has been writing and
performing throughout Montana, Washington and Texas for the last 20
years or so and has etched out a unique niche for himself by
crafting songs full of wit and wisdom, blended with musical
influences ranging from jazz to country and folk to alternative
rock. If you're ever down in San Marcos on Thursdays, you can catch
Missoula Slim in his native habitat at Cheatham Street from 5:00 -
7:30. In the meantime, plan to see him this coming Sunday at
Threadgill's. If you haven't heard his spot on song about
songwriting and the business of songwriting, make sure you holler out
a request for it on Sunday. For more info on Missoula Slim visit:
http://www.gilliamsongs.com/
Remember that's this coming Sunday, the 20th, from 3-5 PM at
Threadgill's. You don't have to be a member to attend, admission is
free, so bring a friend and get involved.
ASG Song Contest Update
We are finalizing the category and prize details for the fall
songwriting contest even as I write this. However, for now, you need
to know there will be a short window in which to enter, so start
getting your best songs ready to enter in September. The awards show
will take place on November 17th at the Embassy Suites Hotel on the
eve of the Songwriter Conference. There will be many legendary
songwriters in attendance that evening, so make your plans now to be
there by reserving the date.
And, while you're at it, block out the entire weekend, because you
will definitely want to be with ASG for the Annual Songwriters'
Conference there at the Embassy Suites. If you're coming in from out
of town for the conference, the Embassy Suites is already accepting
reservations for accommodations at the hotel that weekend. So, get
the jump on the rush and reserve your room now.
That's it for now. See y'all Sunday at Threadgill's. In the
meantime, make time in the next 72 hours to write yourself a new
song. If everyone of us on this email list does it, there will be
thousands of new songs on the planet before the weekend is up. Think
about it!
Peace,
Rick

I read this on
http://www.myspace.com/sarahcasselman
This is a rallying cry to all artists, poets, musicians, actors,
directors, dancers, photographers, writers, singers, songwriters,
and all who believe we can make the world better with creativity,
positivity, and passion - let's get together and use our skills to
make people more health/enviro/and socially conscious. I want to
meet people who are passionate, kind, open-minded, and love to
laugh. People in touch with their mind and body. People who are self-
aware, have direction/goals, and work to make them a reality. People
who are unselfish. People who are artistic yet grounded. People who
work to make change where they see problems in the world, but who
are not dogmatic or militant. People who possess a poetic and
romantic streak. People who exude happiness, and have a positive
attitude about life. In the words of Charles Bukowski, "What matters
most is how well you walk through the fire".

The Goose Bump Theory
by Vanessa Raine
I have a theory that if something is really good, if it really hits
home and moves you then you get a wave of goose bumps rush over your
body. I get it when I hear great music, or see a beautifully acted
scene in a film or when I read Robert Frost. I get it when I see a
beautiful sunset or eat great food or get a priceless smile from a
baby child. You go through stages where you seem to get them more
than at other times in your life. Never in my life have I had more
goose bump moments than right now. I take it as a sign from the
universe that I must be indeed on the right path. So to all you
people out there that aint getting no goose bumps, reassess, trust
your gut instinct and change course and you too will have many more
goose bump moments. Peace to you all xx
