got this note from john arthur

Dearest Friends and Allies,

Yvonna and I have made an offer on a property "high on a hill where
the whitetail run" and the offer has been accepted. We must now move
quickly on selling our current home.

If you know anyone who is interested in moving to the Texas Hill
Country please let them know that we have a manufactured home on two
lots adjacent to Lower Colorada River Authority Greenbelt area (no
one can build to the south, west, or east of you). My wife keeps an
immaculate house so it's in great shape with great neighbors--mostly
retirees. We've come down from the asking price 5 times and have
told the agent to sell it at $64,700. This is what we must have to
cover what we owe, commissions and moving costs.

It's perfect for: a family looking to start over, a first home
buyer, a
working musician, a friend tired of the northern cold, a rental
property,
a
single Mom. We know several lenders who will help them get approved.

Please contact our agent or reply to the email. Cindy Cornelius can
be
reached at: 830.385.5084 or cindycornelius1@....

About grammyu
GRAMMY University Network is a unique and fast growing community of
college students who are pursuing a career in the recording industry.

The Recording Academy, best known for the GRAMMY Awards, created
GRAMMY U to help prepare college students for their careers in the
recording industry through networking, educational programs and
performance opportunities.

GRAMMY U is designed to enhance students' current academic
curriculum with exclusive access to recording industry professionals
such as major recording artists, producers and songwriters, to give
an "out of classroom" perspective to the recording industry.

Membership in GRAMMY U gives you the opportunity to meet with other
students like yourself who want to be in the music industry on both
a local and national level.

The GRAMMY U program is "housed" at a local college or university in
each of the The Recording Academy's 12 Chapter cities: Atlanta,
Chicago, Florida (Miami), Los Angeles, Memphis, Nashville, New York,
Pacific Northwest (Seattle), Philadelphia, San Francisco, Texas
(Austin) and Washington, DC.

other discounts to magazines, events and music intensive conferences
nationwide.

And... you don't have to live in one of the GRAMMY U cities to be a

Former ASG pres Joe Strouse has a new CD

http://cdbaby.com/cd/joestrouse/from/ande

Joe is an Austin-based musician/songwriter who loves the process of
creating songs and acknowledges the necessity of re-writing. Active
in the Austin Songwriters Group, he lives for the communal thrill of
being a musical sideman and is painfully shy about being out in
front with the microphone (on second thought, maybe that's where the
most heartfelt songs come from...)

This group of songs explores a variety of songwriting genres â€"
country, rock, pop, jazz usually with a wry, quirky sense of
humor/satire. And an unabating love for cookies.

Musically infectious without the need for antibiotics and more fun
than the time the kid dropped a dozen eggs on the kitchen floor.

a note from JPF 2006 Nominees,

After the Epic length email from Thursday, I thought I'd give you a
break with 3 short updates that are important (and fun!):
--------------------------------------------
1. Online voting is now active.

Peer votes count 1/3 of the final total to determine this year's
Award winners
in the song and short form video categories (long form video and
album nominees
are handled offline due to the time requirements needed to judge and
the lyric
nominees will be added soon). There's no better peers than fellow
nominees! If
you'd like to help judge this year's winners in any category other
than your own
and have a fast internet connection, we've streamlined the
registration process
for fellow nominees to vote.

You can vote in any genre/category except ones that you, your band
mates (past
and present), your business associates/clients, your family members,
co-writers
or significant others are also nominated in. Simply put, just don't
vote on
something where you have a conflict of interest. Everything else is
fair game.

Since we already know who you are, all you have to do is visit the
link bellow,
enter your email address and name (please use the email address you
are on right
now) and you can get started voting right away.

Here's the link:

Opportunity for outstanding songwriters

Before you read, you may wish to check out my myspace site for
credibility:
www.myspace.com/prosongwriter

What I am looking for:

1) Great lyricists specialized in their craft

2) Great melody writers specialized in their craft

3) Great track writers/composers specialized in their craft

(note: the genres I am interested in are; pop, pop/rock, R&B, and
any mixture of the three)

Must be professional, serious and willing to do what is necessary
(ethically) to get the job done.

If you're chosen to be part of my songwriting team, I will expect
you to complete the assignment given to you in a timely manner.

This is a non-exclusive arrangement. Meaning, even though you will
be a valued member on board, you are free to pursue your own
endeavors on your own time. Anything you do on your own will not be
the responsibility of myself or others on the team.

Completed works under my umbrella will be split equally between you
and those involved with whatever project that is assigned to you.
This includes writing and publishing shares.

I am looking for only the highest quality and the best writers that
can consistently write potential hits that can be made into actual
hits.

I am only looking for writers, I am not looking for producers.
However, if you are a producer, that skill will be utilized to
ensure project placements. If you are involved on the project as a
writer, do not expect to be the producer on the project because
whatever artist we are working with may have their own production
team in place. I am making this known now so there are no
misunderstandings later.

What I am NOT looking for:

1) People who woke up this morning and decided they want to try
being a writer. Sorry, but it takes time to develop the skill
necessary to qualify for what I need.

2) People who are in this to get rich. If you don't love music
first, then you'll never know what it takes to make it onto the
playing field. I am not saying it isn't possible to get rich as a
writer. What I am saying is you won't get rich if that is your
primary motivation.

3) People who procrastinate and make false promises. Treat
songwriting like a business. If you want to succeed, then you have
to show something of yourself in order for others to believe in you.

4) People who create problems. Sorry, I am not into drama and/or
conflict. Leave your BS at the door. I am only looking for
professionals.

With that said, if you believe you have what it takes to be part of
my songwriting team, then you may message me on myspace
(www.myspace.com/prosongwriter) or you may send me an email at
gwsongwriter@...

What I need from you is a demo of 3 to 4 songs that you've written.
A biography, any credits you may have to your name and whether or
not you're attached (exclusively or non-exclusively) to any other
publisher, management, production agreement, etc...If you have a
website with all of that available, all the better.

If you make the grade, then further correspondence will follow.

Thank you and good luck,

Gregory Watton

New Artist needs some advice

Posted by: "Hope Joy"
xicrazy@...

Hi groupies!

I am a new member. A muscian and artist from birth I believe. Hah!
My mother said I jumped in her womb at the sound of music!

Well, as I've had my time exploring various occupations and
passions, I am finally come to the conclusion that music is the way
I can praise God best (and lead others into His presence by doing
so). I am believing that He has plans for me here. Still, struggling
as to where to begin. I have taken voice lessons and guitar lessons
(in the process now). I also periodically lead worship.

Any advice as how to be a part of a band, worship leader, writing
songs, recording, selling?

I'd love to do this rather than some other side job one day. Still,
it's all in His time.

Thanks for your help!

Hope Joy Daily :) (Yep, that's my REAL name)

~ ~ ~

here was my reply to joy

hello hope joy,

begin where you are with what you have
you're asking a huge question
which is actually many questions
but the main question is

How do I make a living being a worship leader?

Actually to answer your question, we need more info about you
do you have a website?
a myspace site?
any recordings?
are you doing any gigs?
have you written any songs?
How a old are you?
what's your bio?

i would also comment that very few artists can go from nothing, to
making a decent living from music

I suggest for folks to get a good education or develop other skills
you can make a decent living from, get a good job with health
insurance, persue music on the side or get into a relationship with
someone who does and believes in you so much that they'll support
you through the lean years.

it all begins with the decision, the intention,

I am a worship leader.

then you start acting how worship leaders act
and
start doing what worship leaders do

find or write powerful songs
set up gigs
figure out who your fans are
connect with your fans
write music for them
create products for your fans music and merch
create a website

right now when I googled your name nothing comes up

interview worship leaders

take action day after day after day
keep taking action on days when you feel like giving up

you should consult with eric copeland
http://www.ericcopelandmusic.com/

good luck,

ande

the Tennessean ran the following story

Songwriter Sandy Knox returns

From freelance journalist Beverly Keel:

Grammy-nominated songwriter Sandy Knox has moved back to Nashville
after spending nearly eight years in Austin.

"I moved back because I feel Nashville is my home and this is where
my 'urban' family is," says Sandy, who wrote hits such as "Does He
Love You," "Why Haven't I Heard from You" and "She Thinks His Name
Was John." She's working on a musical comedy with writers and
producers from Broadway.

"I missed Nashville. Also, I want to start working with new writers
and artists. I am especially excited about working with a new artist
named Kyle Wyley and the female duo Bomshel."

Sandy moved to Austin in 1998 to be closer to her parents, who lived
in Houston. Her father died in 2004; her mother remains in Houston
and encouraged the return to Music City. "One of the reasons I moved
was because although my father wasn't ill, I had a very strong
feeling that he didn't have many years left and I wanted to spend
time with him. That ended up being correct, and 5½ years later, he
passed away somewhat unexpectedly. So I don't regret the move at
all. But it's nice to be back."

Hello everyone. This is my first time ever being here and I
regret
that my first post here is of a link - however, I do think everyone
will really like the interviews and hopefully, the website as well.
My name is Paul King and I am the owner/operator of NashvilleHype! -
a weblog dedicated to the promotion of songwriters and artist in
Nashville. We are part of the I Live Music network which includes
BloggingMuses - a weblog dedicated to writing better songs. I am a
contributing writer at BloggingMuses.

As a result of my own website and affiliation with the network, I
get to interview some really great songwriters and I thought I'd
come over, introduce myself and tell you all about a couple of the
interviews I've done recently.

John Barlow Jarvis is a back to back two time Grammy Award winning
songwriter in Nashville and he gives a great interview (with some
excellent advice for those just starting out).

Bart Allmand had the #1 song recently ("Brand New Girlfriend") and
writes with Jeffrey Steele, Bob Dipiero, and Craig Wiseman among
many others.

Clay Cumbie is a songwriter signed to Craig Wiseman's Big Loud Shirt
Industries

Ryan Tyndell is a songwriter signed to Sony/ATV and is pursuing an
artist deal as well.

Also, I have people like Rusty Gaston who once oversaw Byron
Gallimore's Song Garden and now co-owns This Music with Tim Nichols
and Connie Harrinton (and yes, he's always looking for songs)

I have many more interviews from friends and associates either
already on the site, or in the pipeline. From major songwriters and
artists, to the behind the scenes worker bees in management,
publishing, at labels, etc...

I also have news, upcoming events, and commentary.

I hope you'll stop by and keep coming back and I thank the
moderators here for allowing this post. Best to you all.
