so I'm sending the files from midiOX - the evolver does the count down and then goes to 99 and nothing works until I restart - no column lights, no nuthin... ...

Well it is a *mono* synth. 1 voice. So pads are available if you don't mind overdubbing a lot. But basically, anything a monophonic synth, the Evolver can do....
