I really enjoyed it, reminiscent of a more electric Jarrett concert, with
elements of Steve Reich too. Fred was there to provide the more discordant
stuff and some Ebow contributions. Their version of Radiohead's "Exit Music"
was particularly good, worth checking out.

Recently I've been able to give copies of the Dagmar DVD I made to Peter
Blegvad and last night to Fred Frith, but on both occasions I unfortunately
wasn't able to ask if they knew what Dagmar was up to.
By coincidence there was a woman drinking in the foyer of the Queen
Elizabeth Hall who, from a distance, had an uncanny resemblance to Dagmar, I
thought she'd gone along to watch Fred playing with Katia Labeque, but on
closer inspection it wasn't her :-(
So does anyone know what she's up to these days or have any way of finding
out?

Gary
Hi Jon
Ok, that'll be Dave Kerman (of 5uu's etc fame) running that - I'm sure he'll
be mere ( I mean 'more') than happy to deliver the lyrics to accompany - in
fact your feedback would be vital in ensuring that downloaded albums meet
the full artistic package.....

Hi Jon,
so would I be right in thinking Recommended Rec' are licencing albums for
download without a downloadable artwork file ? That sounds very unReR-like
for a company devoted to such quality/artistic issues. In the abscence of
anyone on this list scanning the lyrics to the File section, I would suggest
you email ReR who will (on past form) make those lyric sheets available to
you.
Good Luck !
Ps anyone know if Dagmar's involved in any musical activities at present ?

Hi all
Just signed up.
'Desperate Straights' was a student favourite of my crowd back in mid-
70s Brighton which I re-discovered a couple of years ago, since when
I've been collecting as much of Dagmar's stuff as I can find. My 12
year old daughter loves the Art Bears!
My most recent acquisition is the double News from Babel CD, I love
Robert Wyatt too so it's just ecstasy, which leads me to a question,
does anyone know where I can find lyrics for this album - the Robert
Wyatt site only has those for his lead songs?
Apologies if this has been covered before

Where is the 2nd Slapp Happy cd available? (don't see it listed in the
US at CDUniverse)?
Anyone know if Dagmar Krause's first two (German) lp's are available
anywhere on cd?
Thanks

Q: What does it contain?
A: It includes the "Camera" opera, as broadcast on UK Channel 4, along
with a number of Dagmar's appearances on British TV. The songs
performed are:
Pavel's Prison Song, Genevieve, Song of a German Mother, Surabaya
Johnny (two versions), Ballad of the Sackslingers and Ballad of the
Bourgeois Welfare.
[MikeP] Hmm, does any footage from the 70s exist with SH, HC, AB,
etc??? Surely there must be something?

Hi all,
I always wondered why the bonus single of "Alcohol" that was included in the
vinyl reissue of "Sort Of" was never included on the CD reissue? Anybody know? I
was lucky enough to snag that LP and bonus single. It's such a cool song that it
needs to be heard! I think that "Alcohol" was a Peter Blegvad demo or
something....I've always loved it. It's really bent!
How can I get a copy of the Dagmar DVD?

This DVD is amazing. Gary, you did an INCREDIBLE job
- that clip of "Pavel's Prison Song" is one I play
over and over and over...just awesome.
Everyone else ... what are you waiting for? Believe
me, it's just beautiful, this DVD.
By the way, as Phil mentioned earlier, Slapp Happy's
"Acnalbasac Noom" has indeed been remastered by Bob
Drake and issued with SLIGHTLY different artwork.
It sounds PHENOMENAL!
Also, for those who don't know, Slapp Happy's 2nd

import - not only newly remastered (and sounding
breathtaking compared to the 2fer) but in MINI-LP
REPLICA PACKAGING, WITH THE ORIGINAL BOOKLET INSERT

Okay folks, I'm now hard at work authoring the DVD, hopefully it will be
ready soon.
However, I'm having difficulty finding out the year of Dagmar's
TV appearances below:
1. On BBC-2's "The Late Show", where she sang "Genevieve" and "Song
of a German Mother".
2. Although I thought it was earlier, some research indicates her appearance
on Channel 4's "Viva Cabaret", was '93, can anyone confirm this?
3. Performing "Surabaya Johnny" on ITV's "South Bank Show". The tape says
'85, but I'd like confirmation.

For those of you wondering what happened to this project, unfortunately it's
been put on hold due to personal reasons. All the file filtering and
audio/resynching has been done, so all that remains is the DVD authoring
itself, but I just don't have time to do this at present. Rest assured that
it will be done eventually and I will post here when copies are available

Hi Mark,
Yup, I'm ashamed to say it ;) but there is something in the way Dagmar sings
"slap a happy platter on the gramaphone" and "move your body like you're humpin'
a ghost" that I find really appealing...and I'd love to hear the techno-sounding
"Hello Dagi", the Japan-only bonus track off of "Ca Va"! It sounds like it
would be just as off-kilter.
As for thos AN bonus tracks, I must admit I'm not crazy about "Blue Eyed
William" either, but AN is--to these 40-something year old ears--a wonderfully
fresh album to listen to, even to this day.
