well, here it is, Christmas Eve. my quartet just finished our last
Christmas gig of the year over at Bert Fish Memorial [the entire ICU
nurse's station complement were in tears by the end of "White Christmas"]
and then the NSB Pennysaver office where our tenor works [they didn't know
he could sing]. Linda's quartet sang at a retirement home on Saturday
[where they didn't mention their names or Sweet Adelines and wore their own
costumes] and finished their first season getting used to audiences.

in a few hours, we'll be headed over the river [really, we live on the far
side of the river] and thru the woods [really, we will pass thru woods
going south on US 1] to Grandmother's house [just for a brief visit, the
real action takes place at my sister's a mile away] in Titusville where
most of my family [who really are rocket scientists] live and everyone else
gathers for events. our tradition is to exchange gifts with everyone we
aren't going to see on Christmas Day [mostly everybody] on the evening of
Christmas Eve. then everyone can go to the other in-laws and whatever
Christmas Day. it's also a good way to get those presents early. [grin]

we always have the same buffet meal with Chicken a la King over corn bread
or cold cuts and rolls for those who don't eat real food. the eggnog is
freshly made [i still don't like it] and Christmas cookies abound. this
routine dates back some 45 years to when i was a mere tot. traditions are a
good thing this time of year.

Christmas Day, we are starting our own tradition by having all the family
members that aren't going to in-laws or elsewhere come over here for a
sit-down Christmas feast. i've got a 25 pound, whole ham resting the spare
refrigerator and the various odds and ends to make enough stuff for a small
army.

we hope that you and yours will be enjoying your traditional activities and
that Christmas Day finds you well and happy [and visions of sugarplums
wouldn't hurt]. we love you all and wish you the best for the season and
the New Year.

p.s. Matt sez, "hi", too!
