>>So Dennis wrote some or all of the music for 101 Dalmations?<<
Yes...I think he wrote all of the music and either all of the lyrics or
collaborated on the lyics.
Here's a funny review from Mpls St/ Paul Magazine. You need to wade through the
writer's obsession with on-line politically-correct doggie bloggers (LOL!), but
the review's pretty entertaining, even though it's got some critical notes.

Here's a link to the interview he did on KQRS. I guess it was late last week.
(How time flies!) The interview isn't as funny & full of music as when he
normally calls in to chat, but he sounds excited about the show and stuff like
that. Still a good listen.

Hope that helps a little!
(And sorry, I'm not on DDYTalk.com...my email is full enough than to seek out
new ways to spend more time on the internet. Guess I figured if I was on a DDY
email group, I'd hear *something*.)

Not sure why this news isn't getting out but it's not. I just heard Dennis
DeYoung interviewed on the radio this week about 101 Dalmatians opening here
in Mpls this week. Without that interview, I would have NEVER know about it
and I would have missed my second chance to see a musical with Dennis'
music! Gah!
Anyway, I'm going to see it tomorrow night but, in between checking for
tickets on Ticketbastard 2 days ago and today, I see they have added a TON
of new cities for this show. So if you're interested, go see it. The reviews
have been decent so far and Dennis was spotted at one of the shows here.
(But since we're the opening city, I guess we get a better chance of seeing
him lurking?)
Go enjoy it!
:)

That video does show him shaving with one of those disposable Bic type razors in
sort of stop-motion, while looking in a mirror. The first time I saw it I
wondered if he was advertising the razor, LOL!
When he finished out the show sans mustache, he looked, other than the gray
hair, about 18 years old. I remember a friend of mine remarking that he looked
so young, it may have been why he had the beard and later the mustache-only for
so long.

Hello everybody:
Yesterday July 30th., 2009.
Collin Cowheard, on his show "the heard" on ESPN Radio did a very funny parody
of Come Sail Away, with the title "Come Trade With Me" in reference to the
baseball trade deathline. It was very funny. If anybody can downlowd it and
share it it would be great.
Thank you
And keep on rocking.

Hi all,
Looks like this group has the "Summertime Blues" lately...way too quiet. I just
noticed that Dennis and the band are playing in suburban Westchester tomorrow
night, but the big news is something I wanted to make sure all Chicago-area fans
were aware of. Heck, it might be worth a trip for non-Chicago-area fans as well.
Dennis is being honored as the second "Great Performer of Illinois" and is doing
a concert following the award presentation at Millenium Park at the Prizker
Pavillion. The combination of price (free), location, expected good weather, and
the event itself have the potential to make for a very special evening.
I hope some of you can attend and report back!
Bob in RSM, CA
It was 30 years ago today that you all came to Diane and my wedding!! It was a
weekend of love and fun that ended with the big jam at Harlows. Wow, the years
have flown by but I'd like to thank all of you for still being my friends.
Remember,I'm always there if anyone needs anything. I'd also like to thank Diane
for reminding me about today with a call to my cell phone from wherever the hell
she is now! Peace!

Is it possible that WMP pulled the information from an online database that
lists the Canadian version of the album? That album did not have Private Jones
on it and the tracks were in a different order. The CAN version also had a song
called Respect Me on it which was not on the US release. If WMP lists this track
then I would bet this is what happened.

When I burned "100 Years" to my computer with WMP and then synced with my MP3,
something very weird happened.
In my WMP, the tracks came out differently. "Private Jones" is not listed, and
several tracks are listed out of order. The funny thing is they play in the same
order as listed on the CD cover.
Anybody else have this problem?

Hi,
I wanted to share with you all, I have just booked a flight to Chicago
(transit via... Athens, Amsterdam & Paris!) for
the July 10th show! Moreover, it was just recently announced on Dennis' site
that he will be performing in Chicago as well, two days later, on July 12th!
WooHoo! So, after 12 years, I will be seeing them live for the 1st time
since Houston, in 1997! That is, of course, because the band is still around
and you "spoiled" American listees
should be very grateful for that :) I am sure you are.
Let me thank everybody who replied in the "VIP Packages" thread. Then,
I was desperately looking for any possibillity of purchasing a package that
would allow me to get backstage and get some photos with the band but, after
your replies and a few emails I exchanged with "All Access" and StyxWorld, I
understood that it is rather in vain... I have confirmed now that no one can
guarantee meeting any of the band members, or whose soundcheck will be on
that day. Even the "pre-show party" will be a fan-only meeting... so why
pay those extra $$$s? Not even the exact seat location will be available
until you get there.
Thus, I decided to get an ordinary ticket (section 204, row J at the Charter
One Pavilion) and hopefully enjoy the show.
I'll be very happy to meet any fellow listees and... more than very happy
if anyone could help me out in the search for a backstage pass -I mean, I'm
desperate,
PLEASE, anyone?!? :-)))
Manos
i got the new album this week and it's great. it really rocks too! Dennis' voice
never sounded better. well worth the wait.

The last several months, I've been re-living a big part of my youth, as a
radio station here in Indianapolis is re-broadcasting 1980s episodes of
"American Top 40" I listened to that show heavily from 1982-87, the most
formative years of my musical taste.
Styx has been on several of the episodes and one featured both "Desert
Moon" and Tommy Shaw's "Girls with Guns." And on one episode, right before
playing "The Best of Times," Casey Kasem told the story of the river Styx!
Last weekend, they re-broadcast the episode from 4/19/86. One of the long
distance dedications was from a guy in Argentina who mentioned having
accumulated over 150 pen pals. Keep in mind, that was when he had to do it
by
letter. He sounded like he must be a very nice and interesting person, and
Casey
actually mentioned the guys full name. I found him on Facebook and he was
very
pleaeantly shocked!

Dear Gang,
Hi, how is life? I just wanted to let you know that Alias is releasing
their 2nd CD real soon, which is titled "Never Say Never." Alias is the awesome
band that opened up for REO Speedwagon back in 1990 during their "Earth, Small
Man, a Dog, and a Chicken" tour. Alias has Freddy Curci who sang with Sheriff,
which had the song "When I'm With You." Freddy is awesome, and he has one of
the most awesome ranges of any singer out there.
Here are the links to look at. Daphne, one of my Myspace friends, is a
big supporter of Alias and has some information you might like to look at. I am
including all these sites below:

Ex-Styx Singer Talks About "First Time"
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 20, 2009
Former Styx vocalist Dennis DeYoung hasn't played with the
multi-platinum rock group he co- founded as a teenager in more than
ten years, but he still makes his living mostly from playing his old
Styx hits. DeYoung performs his classic hits like "Lady",
"Come Sail Away", "Mr. Roboto", "The Best of
Times" and "Show Me The Way" in concert to appreciative
audiences, but there's one song that the rocker looks back on as the one
that got away. In 1979, at the peak of Styx' success, DeYoung's ballad
"Babe" scored the group its only #1 hit, but instead of
following up with another DeYoung ballad, "First Time", Styx
instead chose a different direction, and "First Time" was never
released. DeYoung has performed the song very rarely since. In an
exclusive interview with Ron Stevens of www.ddytalk.com
<http://www.ddytalk.com/> , DeYoung recently lamented what might have
been.
"When it comes to that particular song, that was a terrible
mistake," the singer maintains. "Here's my theory: If 'First
Time' had been released, it would have been absolutely, unquestionably,
a top 3 single. Which meant at that time that Cornerstone would have
sold another 4 to 500,000 albums, `cause we were the biggest band in
America. And Cornerstone might have sold 4 million copies—or more.
That's how not releasing that turned the tables on that record."
Since 1999 Dennis DeYoung has carved out a solo career performing
the music he created with Styx in concert, as well as releasing new
albums. His latest album 100 Years From Now was a hit in Canada; its
title song reached #1 in Quebec, and DeYoung is cautiously optimistic
about its chances in the US. "You know, I'm just happy that I
have a record company that is going to release the record and give me
some visibility, and allow me the opportunity to be heard by
somebody," he says. "But beyond that I think you can't
really have expectations anymore in the current culture of radio and TV.
It's not really geared for people who are over 60 years old, to say
the least. It's not even geared for people over 40."
Rounder Records will release 100 Years From Now on April 14th. The US
release contains two additional tracks, "Private Jones" and
"There Was A Time". Read the entire Dennis DeYoung interview or
