-Not too much going on here. I finally got the new TNT, MY RELIGION,
and have spent about 38 hours trying to figure out why these guys make
things so complicated. First they release very similar EPs overseas
last year, TASTE in Japan and GIVE ME A SIGN in Europe (I think...).
Now there are -- I think -- at least three different versions of MY
RELIGION (North America, Europe, Japan), each one having some (but not
all) of the EPs' contents, some of which are in re-mixed form. And the
Japanese version has a bonus track, and the track orders are actually
different...good God man!!! Madness I tell you! At least the friggin'
record is a good one.

-Hirax's Lightning Fast Recording Session Yields "The New Age Of
Terror"

LOS ANGELES -- Thrash metal veterans Hirax recorded and mixed their
latest studio album, "The New Age of Terror," in an incredible nine
days of marathon sessions.

The record will be released May 18 on Black Devil Records and Deep Six
Records on CD and limited edition picture disc formats.

Upon hearing the raw tracks, which were recorded at another studio,
producer Michael Rozon (Melvins, Adrenaline OD) and the band decided
the quality wasn't up to Hirax's standards. Rozon offered to re-record
all of the tracks at his studio, Speed Semen Clove Factory, in North
Hollywood, Calif. Hirax decided to accept Rozon's offer and entered
his studio to record the 11 songs over again, even though it meant
pushing back their original release date of late February.

"We only had four days to record and mixing and mastering was another
five days," vocalist Katon W. De Pena said. "We just didn't have the
luxury of spending a month or two in the studio. We were recording 12
hours a day. The record needs to be available to the fans in time for
our upcoming tour."

"The band was very admirable in having the guts to listen to me when I
heard the basic tracks and suggested that we re-cut the entire album,"
producer Rozon said. "A lot of people don't have the will to go back
and redo the whole thing again, but Hirax did."

Although the recording session was extremely fast, Hirax did not stray
from the strict standards and ultra-tight musicianship they are known
for. "We practiced for two weeks and then went straight into the
studio," said De Pena. "Hirax also did a lot of pre-production to make
things run smoother. Michael (Rozon) knew how to get the best out of
us. He made us work 100 percent on every song."

"I made sure they nailed everything so that the production would be
tight and powerful," said Rozon. "Definitely one of the fastest
records I've ever done, but we were all on the same page from the get
go. There weren't any conflicts about what we were going to do."

"The New Age of Terror" was recorded the old school way on two-inch
tape using 24-track studio analog. "We would never do anything on
record that we couldn't reproduce live," De Pena said. "What you hear
is what you get. We believe in playing heavy metal/thrash metal with
roots."

The band's session with Rozon has resulted in their most powerful
recording to date. Hirax is a machine when it comes to creating music
-- Katon W. De Pena's vocal dynamics, guitarists Glenn Rogers and Dave
Watson's razor-sharp riffing and out-of-control solos, Jorge
Iacobellis' powerful machine gun drum attack, and Angelo Espino's
thundering bass, grasping the rhythm tightly.

"The New Age of Terror" is an exciting amalgamation of the thrash
style on Hirax's mid-'80s Metal Blade releases "Raging Violence" and
"Hate, Fear and Power" combined with a powerful, technical edge.

The title track, "The New Age of Terror," was written with two themes
in mind. "There was a music journalist who described our sound as
being 'The New Age of Terror,'" De Pena said. "All of the wars that
are going on in this world over oil and religion inspired the lyrics
as well. As soon as I heard the main riff that Glenn came up with, I
had the idea for the song."

Hirax will begin a tour for "The New Age of Terror" in late April with
festival appearances in California, Illinois, Sweden, and two
festivals in Germany. The band will also play Italy, Belgium, and
Holland this summer. U.S. and Japanese tours are in the works.

BIOGRAPHY:
Originally hailing from the mean streets of NYC, the band was formed
in 1993 when Afzaal and former drummer Fred Waring decided to put
together a female fronted metal band. A mutual photographer friend put
ground breaking vocalist Karyn Crisis in touch with the two musicians,
while bassist Gia Chaun Wang was found through a newspaper ad and
later invited into the band.

The powerful dynamics of Crisis were obvious from the first rehearsal
and became more incredible since; as noted by anyone who watched their
awe-inspiring live sets! The band originally signed with Too Damn Hype
Records and released their eight song debut "8 Convulsions". They then
sign to Metal Blade Records and released the highly acclaimed
"Deathshead Extermination" in 1996 and "The Hollowing" in 1997. During
this period the band relentlessly tours in the USA and Europe.

In the beginning of 2000, they moved to Los Angeles to shake things up
on the West Coast. Live shows continue and after a short hiatus the
band decides to enter the studio to begin working on a new album,
entitled "Like Sheep Led To Slaughter" together with famed producer
Billy Anderson.

A continual evolution from their previous albums, Crisis manage to
once again offer another true original full of head-spinning

Headlining Act

The band lineup of this year's installment of Bang Your Head!!! is all
set up again: former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach was confirmed to
play at the event set to take place in Germany at the Messegelände of
Balingen on the 25th and 26th of June. After the reunion of White Lion
was put on ice and the band's already confirmed show dates were
cancelled, the festival's organisators had to find an adequate
substitute and found one with Sebastain Bach, whose band Skid Row
ranged among the most successful Heavy Rock artists of the late '80s
and early '90s thanks to hits like "18 And Life" or "Youth Gone Wild."
Bach, who is about to release a live DVD in June, has announced to
play a set list including all great Skid Row classics.

In other news, the Bang Your Head!!! organizers confirmed that
vocalist Ron Taylor, who has just left Lillian Axe, will join his
former band mates one last time at Balingen on stage.

U-TURN
======
Now And Then Records is delighted to be able to announce the signing
of the Kentucky based AOR band U-Turn for the release of their
acclaimed "No Filler" CD.

U-Turn released "No Filler" in 2003 on their own label, Bonote
Records, with U.S. distribution by Trans World Entertainment. The band
gigs relentlessly and sacrifices personal attachments to build their
dream into a solid reality and a substantive future. To that end they
have employed independent record promoter Jon Flanagan with almost
unheard-of results for an unsigned band.

The history of U-Turn goes back to 1995 when Jamison Todd received a
call from a former band mate about a position for a lead singer.
Jamison jammed with this prospect of a band and quickly realized only
guitarist Scott McClure had what it takes to go professional. So they
left the group to form a three-piece band with bassist Nathan Gossett
and no drummer. Focusing on song writing, they performed acoustic
shows in Owensboro & Bowling Green KY as well as Evansville IN. When
Jamison ran into Jeff Phelps, a rock and roll drummer from High
school, they jammed and the band was finally complete.

Booked before they even had a name, they decided upon "Surrender" days
before the first big gig and attacked the club scene with original
music. Club owners wanted the security of cover tunes, so Surrender
surrendered and mixed covers amongst their own songs. The hot audience
response though was mostly for their original music, which prompted
more writing. In the ensuing struggle to be creative, the bass player
lost interest and left the band. The group stopped performing,
intensified their writing efforts and focused on finding the right
bass player.

In a "fated" chance meeting Josh Wilson stopped by to show Jamison a
new bass he had received from a friend. An immediate audition lead to
his becoming the final member of the present group, which the members
decided to rename "U-Turn."

Developing recorded material in a style that might be called modern or
21st century "classic rock," the band began sending out demos. Soon
E.S.P.N. producer Rich Kleiman called with interest in U-Turn's song
"Survive" for an E.S.P.N. show called "Life."

A New Jersey showcase netted the band a production deal with renowned
producer Brian Drago (Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Kool & The Gang and
Sting) and U-Turn went into the studio with rock engineer Joseph
Borges (Puddle Of Mudd, Limp Bizkit, Sheryl Crow) to complete the
masters for their first CD, "No Filler."

With elements of the more acoustic based rock side of Bon Jovi and
FireHouse, crystal clear production and strong musicianship, U-Turn is
set to make quite an impact this year. Radio stations in the U.S. are
picking up on the material and the constant touring is building up a
loyal following. Now it's the turn of European audiences to catch up
when the album is released in late May.

This will very likely be the last chance to catch Bob as a solo artist
in 2004 as he will be busy with Magnum for the rest of the year. A new
solo album will be released next year and planning is already taking
place to ensure that 2005 is Bob's most active year as a solo artist.

Like a gale force, Los Angeles's Fear Factory has returned and made an
indelible score in the minds and hearts of America. After a near
disintegration last year, Fear Factory regrouped, and entered 2004
strengthened and reinvigorated. This new hunger led the band to create
one of its most remarkable efforts of their careers, the Liquid 8
Records debut Archetype, which has just debuted on the Billboard Top
200 Sales Chart at #30.

Jagermeister Tour with Slipknot and Chimaira. Drummer and founding

through Image Entertainment), as well as the soundtrack for the fourth
film in the Mischief street-racing film series Mischief Invasion.
Drummer Raymond Herrera and guitarist Christian Olde-Wolbers composed
four additional songs that are featured on the soundtrack as well.

Archetype's debut video "Cyberwaste" is currently #4 on CVC
Rock/Alternative Chart for the month of May, and is in recurrent
rotation on Fuse TV's Uranium and MTV2's Headbangers Ball programs.
Fear Factory recently co-hosted an episode of Headbangers Ball, which
aired on April 24th and April 27th. They will be spotlighted on Fuse's
Uranium in June. The band also filmed a superb episode of the
videogame-playing-centric Players program, which will premiere on G4
Television on Monday, May 3rd at 10:30pm EST/7:30pm PST.

Fear Factory's radio success has been nothing short of phenomenal,
with the new single "Archetype" already added to WJXQ (Lansing), WBYR
(Ft Wayne), KSRX (San Antonio), KRPX (Corpus Cristi), WKOZ (Saginaw),
WRIF (Detroit) and many others. The previous single "Cyberwaste"
currently yields the #1 spot on CMJ Crucial Spins, #2 on CMJ Loud, #2
at FMQB and #4 at R&R Specialty.

Press has also become enthralled with the technical/organic fury of
Archetype. Computer Games Magazine: Now Playing says, "Fear Factory is
at its productive best." FHM Magazine attests that the return is

-Ministry Moves Into Houses Of The Molé

New CD Slated For June 22nd Release On Sanctuary Records

Originators of industrial rock Ministry return with Houses of the
Molé, a brand new studio album set for a June 22nd release on
Sanctuary Records. The follow-up to 2003's Animositisomina promises to
expand upon the Ministry "Wall of Sound" that fans expect.

"Houses of the Molé will be all Ministry, all the time, with a dash of
sinister Southwest flavor and half the carbs," states Ministry's
irascible front man, Al Jourgensen.

Jourgensen formed Ministry in 1981, unleashing an unprecedented
musical style, combining fast, aggressive punk rock, haunting
electronics, assaulting guitars and unforgiving vocals. The musical
term "industrial" was created to describe Jourgensen's new and
innovative sound, which propelled an entire new genre. In 1992,
Ministry recorded the now legendary Psalm 69, featuring the alt rock
hits "Jesus Built My Hotrod," "Just One Fix," and "NWO." Despite being
as far from pop as any band could be, two of Ministry's albums landed
in Billboard Magazine's Top 40 chart, 1992's Psalm 69 (#27) and Filth
Pig (#19). Ministry was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2000, and
began to write songs for various films including Robo Cop, The Matrix
and A.I. An aesthetic affinity between Director Steven Spielberg and
Jourgensen inspired the director to include Ministry's performance of
"What About Us," in A.I., and to direct the song's accompanying video.

Regarding Ministry's tumultuous 20-year musical career, Jourgensen
notes: "Yeah, we're half-way to 90...but we're still driving 100 mph.
Ministry is built for speed."

-Uli Roth is scheduled to tour the US this spring (finally!). Unless I
missed something this will be the first time he has played on these
shores since 1985. I was fortunate enough to see one of those shows
and I can assure you he is phenomenal live -- make sure to plan on
checking him out to see a true music legend.

-I've been watching the new SHRED TACTICS instructional video by Rob
Johnson and it is a good one. The production is rather basic as you
really just have a stable camera shot of Rob sitting with his guitar
and running through the licks, but what he demonstrates is excellent.
Not to discourage beginners from checking it out but don't expect to
play any of this stuff quickly, this is really for the intermediate to
advanced guitarist to wrestle with...

-Been checking out the new Spastic Ink CD, amazing stuff! Ron
Jarzombek is just incredible, the type of guitarist who makes you feel
inadequate as a musician. Inspiring though, I'll have a full review
soon.

-Well apparently there are only about 100 tickets left for ProgPower
USA V (maybe none by the time this comes out). This is going to be
another exceptional show and for added benefit my old guitar teacher
Rusty Cooley will be playing the pre-party; Rusty is a monster player
with unreal chops, if you've never heard him check out samples at

-According to their Web site, the release of Dokken's new CD HELL TO
PAY has been delayed until July. Apparently the record company wanted
to have more time to promote the disc...

-The new Scorpions CD UNBREAKABLE is another with a strange release
schedule -- a May 3rd release date was announced but I've not been
able to find it in the stores and they have no date listed for it yet,
disappointing. Why can't these things just get released at the same
time worldwide?

-Currently on the playlist: THE SPIRIT LIVES ON (Jimi Hendrix
Tribute), Metal Church: METAL CHURCH, Spastic Ink: INK COMPLETE, Cage:
