-Frontiers/Locomotive Arrives From "FROM THE INSIDE" With Project From
Former Tyketto Vocalist Danny Vaughn
Danny Vaughn, the voice behind cult AOR band Tyketto, is back with a
project called From The Inside on Frontiers/Locomotive Records.
Vaughn was contacted by Frontiers Records to record an album of songs
firmly entrenched in the sounds that first gained Vaughn notoriety
with Tyketto, with big choruses, big guitars, and big drums. Most of
the songs were written by professional songwriters, among the likes of
Desmond Child, and brought to Vaughn to put his personal stamp on.
"The trick was to take the essence of the original song and add my own
stamp to it without betraying it," he said. "Some songs were very
simple and required little changing, but others were pretty drastic."
Vaughn did also have the opportunity to contribute some of his own
writing to the project.
"Compared to the music I make in my own band, Vaughn, it's more power
pop," Vaughn said. "My current songs have a slightly more stripped
down vibe to them, although everything that I write is melodic. It's
the only thing I know how to do."
Vaughn was skeptical at first about recording songs written by others,
but was convinced by a similar release Frontiers had done with
vocalist Kelly Hansen called PERFECT WORLD.
"I thought it was very well produced and had a very interesting song
selection," said Vaughn. "So, I agreed to check out the material as
long as they allowed me to do the choosing of the songs. I've never
ventured this far into the area of covering other people's songs."
Gaining popularity in the early to mid-'90s, Tyketto was one of the
best and most underrated radio friendly rock bands of the rock genre,
led by vocalist Vaughn, who left the band in 1995. Vaughn reunited
with his former bandmates for two more bluesy and acoustic rock-based
releases in 2000 and 2001 under the name Vaughn, which he still fronts
today.

-Frankie J Sings "More Than Words" On The Expanded DualDisc Of THE ONE
As Second Album from the Pop/R&B Superstar Approaches Platinum Status,
Frankie J Adds Soulful Version Of the Pop Hit Plus Videos for
"Obsession (No Es Amor)," "How To Deal" as well as "More Than Words"
THE ONE Expanded DualDisc In Stores October 11
Frankie J Puts Finishing Touches on Spanish-Language Album Due Out
This Winter
LOS ANGELES -- With his second album, THE ONE, approaching the
platinum milestone, Frankie J's recent American tour became a victory
lap for the singer and songwriter. Powered by a string of hit singles
-- "Obsession (No Es Amor)," "How To Deal" and the title track -- the
album debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart, was
certified Gold by the RIAA two months after its release and
established Frankie as a Pop/R&B superstar. On October 11, Columbia
Records will release an expanded DualDisc version of THE ONE that
includes Frankie's soulful version of Extreme's early '90s hit, "More
Than Words."
The cover was inspired by a recent show in Boston where Frankie was
asked to play an extra song to buy time for Will Smith, who was
running late for his performance. With no idea what song to play, Andy
Quinn, Frankie's guitarist and friend since high school, suggested
"More Than Words," a song they used to play together at talent shows
and coffee shops. "We hadn't played that song in years, and we didn't
know if we could pull it off or if the crowd would even be into it.
Sometimes you just have to get on stage and roll the dice," Frankie
recalls. "As soon as Andy played that opening lick, the crowd went
bananas. Everyone was screaming and singing along with me. It was
probably the most beautiful moment I've had on stage in my life."
Destined to spark many romances at upcoming homecoming dances, the
heartfelt love song and accompanying video will only be available on
the expanded DualDisc for THE ONE. The audio side features the entire
hit album along with four bonus tracks including "Don't Wanna Try,"
the smash hit from his 2003 solo debut WHAT'S A MAN TO DO?, the hit
single "Suga Suga," a collaboration with rapper Baby Bash, the Spanish
version of "Obsession (No Es Amor) and "More Than Words."
The DVD side contains the entire album in PCM Stereo, sizzling
performance footage recorded during Frankie's appearance on "TRL," an
in-depth documentary along with videos for "Obsession (No Es Amor),"
"How To Deal" and "More Than Words," which features Frankie singing to
Dayanara Torres (Miss Universe 1993).
Frankie also recorded a Spanish version of "More Than Words," which
will appear on his upcoming Spanish-language album, UN NUEVO DIA
(English translation: A New Day) (January 31, 2006). Featuring
different styles of music like R&B, pop, rock and ballads sung in
Spanish, Frankie says UN NUEVO DIA is a return to not only his Latin
heritage but also his musical roots. "I want to show people what I'm
capable of as an artist. I was brought up listening to all kinds of
music and this album shows that I'm at home singing anything. This new
album is about me being who I am."

-Liquor And Poker News
Fireball Ministry announces three fall missions; new CD available for
pre-order
Having just completed a five-week nationwide tour alongside CKY, the
Los Angeles-based hard rock quartet Fireball Ministry (
http://www.fireballministry.com/ ) -- whose new album, THEIR ROCK IS
NOT OUR ROCK, will be released on Oct. 18 -- will return to the road
next week for back-to-back fall tours.
Beginning on Sunday (Oct. 9), the group will support Opeth -- whose
Roadrunner Records debut recently debuted at #64 on the Billboard Top
200 -- for three weeks. The first two weeks of the tour will also
feature Hydra Head recording artists Pelican; the remaining shows will
see Century Media cult heroes Nevermore in the direct support slot. On
Nov. 1, Fireball Ministry will then join CKY in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. for
the second leg of the Adio Footwear-sponsored "Rock Adio" tour. That
leads into five shows alongside H.I.M., Finch and Skindred on the
"Viva La Bands" tour, sponsored by MTV, Revolver, Saturn and the
compilation of the same name.
"We're very excited about going out again, and about the possibility
of making some new friends," says guitarist/vocalist James A. Rota II.
"We're equally excited to be going out with our old friends CKY
because the first leg went so well. It's great to be playing new
material for people. We're very proud of our new record and hope it
will inspire other people to have a good time."
Fireball Ministry -- who performed a Michigan show alongside Judas
Priest two weeks ago -- recently shot a video for "Sundown" (MP3 -
http://www.liquorandpokermusic.com/mp3/fireball_sundown.mp3 ), the
first single from THEIR ROCK..., their third full-length (and Liquor
And Poker Music debut). Directed by Brandon Trost (Josh Todd, Old
97's), "Sundown" -- which Rota describes as being "in the vein of a
classic rock video, one not to be taken ironically" -- will premiere
on MTV2 and Fuse later this month.
Produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Queens Of
The Stone Age) and engineered by Mike Terry (Black Rebel Motorcycle
Club, Ash, Halford), THEIR ROCK... -- Fireball Ministry's first album
featuring new bassist Johny Chow (ex-Systematic) -- will be featured
in the November issue of FHM as one of "three new albums worth the
money." The magazine goes on to describe the group's sound as "like
Motorhead high-fiving Black Sabbath at a biker orgy."
To celebrate their fall touring alongside CKY and Opeth, CM Distro is
offering THEIR ROCK... -- which comes in an embossed deluxe Digipak
and includes a free 14-track Liquor And Poker Music sampler -- for a
special pre-order price of $10 (including shipping). True fans have
the option of adding on an exclusive new Fireball Ministry t-shirt for
only $10 more (again, including shipping). Additionally, all customers
who order by Oct. 17 will be entered to win one of 10 autographed
Fireball posters. To take advantage of the CD and t-shirt specials,

The Thieves complete third U.S. tour of 2005 and plan a fourth; new CD
in stores now
After criss-crossing America for the third time this year (including a
week's worth of shows with labelmates Nebula), The Thieves (
http://www.thebandofthieves.com/ ) -- whose new album, TALES FROM THE
WHITE LINE, is now available -- have returned home. (These days, home
means Los Angeles, although the group originally hails from Oxford,
England.) However, the band already has plans to return to the road,
as you can't keep a good thief down...much less a band of them. See
below for their itinerary.
The trio's American debut, TALES FROM THE WHITE LINE follows on the
heels of last year's acclaimed WHITE LINE EP, which earned praise from
prominent publications (L.A. Times, Guitar World, etc.)
coast-to-coast. Recorded at L.A.'s Royaltone Studios (Audioslave, No
Doubt) and produced and engineered by fellow Brit Chris Brown
(Radiohead, Muse), the album is AC/DC on acid, Pink Floyd on uppers,
The Who on a pub crawl. And while The Thieves are but one of many
British exports to the U.S. in recent years, one listen to their
infectious blend of garage rock, power chords and Britpop proves that
they are not simply just another faceless
new-wave-of-this-or-that-bollocks, nor are they darlings to the latest
trend. Simply put, they rawk like a proper British rock band was
always supposed to.
To order TALES FROM THE WHITE LINE -- featuring the Giant
magazine-approved "ridiculously rocking and catchy" first single
"Gimme Some Lip" (MP3 -
http://www.liquorandpokermusic.com/mp3/thieves_gimme.mp3 ) -- visit
http://www.cmdistro.com/ .
Liquor And Poker gets enlightened by The Illuminati
In recent weeks, Liquor And Poker Music has walked through fire and
stared down a band of thieves, but now the label has finally seen the
light.
The newest addition to the upstart rock label's roster is the Toronto
turbo-charged boogie rock trio The Illuminati (
http://www.theilluminati.net/ ), but the group -- guitarist Les
Godfrey, bassist Nick Sewell and drummer Jim Gering -- have actually
had clandestine talks with Liquor And Poker for more than a year now.
Six months ago, the band even performed at the label's inaugural South
By Southwest showcase in Austin, Texas, when their recording contract
had only a few i's left to be dotted.
But the best things in life are worth waiting for, and as the toast of
a burgeoning Toronto rock scene also featuring Danko Jones, Death From
Above 1979 and Liquor And Poker's own Crash Kelly, The Illuminati fit
that description to a T. The group -- who just completed a Canadian
tour -- has been praised by nearly every publication of note in the
Great White North, from major national newspapers and music
publications, to multiple appearances on Much Music and RefusedTV.
Now, America will finally have the chance to experience the band's
psychedelic hard rock. In October, the group will play alongside Death
From Above 1979 -- the opening act on the upcoming Nine Inch
Nails/Queens Of The Stone Age tour -- at two sold-out Los Angeles-area
concerts. They will serve as the "record release" shows for their new
self-titled EP, which can be pre-ordered for only $3 at the Liquor and
Poker Music website ( http://www.liquorandpokermusic.com/ ), its
standout "On My Way Back Home...Again" (MP3 -
http://www.liquorandpokermusic.com/mp3/illuminati_onmywaybackhomeagain.mp3
; video -
http://www.theilluminati.net/video/TheIlluminati_OnMyWay_320x240.mov )
has been posted. The group will then embark on a Canadian tour
alongside Crash Kelly and The Black Halos (see below for more
information).
The Black Halos "Old Skars And Upstarts" tour forges on; new video now
online
In spite of inclement weather and a rotating cast of performers, The
Black Halos ( http://www.blackhalos.net/ ) are soldiering onward with
the Juice magazine-sponsored "Old Skars And Upstarts" tour, headlined
by Duane Peters' Die Hunns. Although several shows in the southeast
had to be canceled because of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the tour
resumed in Texas last week before heading west. The group will then
return to Canada for a three-week tour.
While in Los Angeles recently, the Halos shot a video for "Three
Sheets From The Wind" (MP3 -
http://www.liquorandpokermusic.com/mp3/BlackHalos_3sheets.mp3 ), the
first single from new album ALIVE WITHOUT CONTROL, with producer Shane
Drake (Fall Out Boy, Trivium). The must-see clip turns the table on
the peep show concept, with scantily-clad girls serving as the paying
customers. To watch the video before it premieres on the networks,
visit Liquor And Poker Music's Myspace page at
http://www.myspace.com/liquorandpokermusic/ . (Kleenex not included.)
Crash Kelly completes new album; performs with Motley Crue
After a sold-out performance alongside Motley Crue and Sum 41 in their
Toronto hometown, Crash Kelly ( http://www.crashkelly.ca/ ) -- who
recently toured North America with Backyard Babies and Chelsea Smiles
-- will return to the road next month, when they tour Canada alongside
The Illuminati and The Black Halos. In other news, front man Sean
Kelly recently visited Los Angeles to put the finishing touches on the
group's as-yet-untitled second album with producer Gilby Clarke
(ex-Guns N' Roses). Also, look for a feature on Sean in the new issue
of Guitar Player, which recently named him one of 10 finalists for
their first-ever "Guitar Hero" competition.
The Black Halos, Crash Kelly, The Illuminati team up for Canadian tour
We don't mean to sound like a broken record, but rock fans in the
Great White North will soon have the opportunity to experience a
hat-trick of Liquor And Poker's finest in the same place at the same
time, when The Black Halos, The Illuminati and Crash Kelly team up for
a brief Canadian tour. In addition to the bands' own merchandise,
Liquor And Poker Music swag will be available at all shows; there will
also be giveaways and meet-and-greets, but bring your own Molson and
Moosehead, eh.
Nebula returns from nationwide tour; new album nearing completion
Acclaimed L.A. cosmic rock trio Nebula ( http://www.nebulamusic.com/ )
just completed a three-week nationwide tour that saw them sharing
stages with such groups as The Thieves, Honky, Nashville Pussy and
Zeke, as well as performing a CMJ showcase in New York City at the
legendary CBGB's nightclub. Before leaving home, the group played the
annual Sunset Junction festival in Silver Lake, Calif., alongside the
likes of New York Dolls, Eagles Of Death Metal and Burning Brides.
That show came on the heels of Nebula's performance at the ESPN
X-Games a few weeks earlier.
In other news, the group has finished recording APOLLO, the follow-up
to the 2003 critical favorite ATOMIC RITUAL. Produced by Daniel Rey
(Ramones, Misfits, L7) and recorded at Hollywood Sound Recorders
(Danzig, System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers), the album -- which
will be released in early 2006 -- will include songs such as "Loose
Cannon," "Fever Frey," "The Alchemist" and "Lightbringer." A demo
version of the latter is available on the new Liquor And Poker Music
label sampler, THE BEST DAMN ROCK N' ROLL SAMPLER EVER! Vol. 2," which
is available free with any purchase at
http://www.liquorandpokermusic.com/ . (It's also a free bonus CD
available inside the new Fireball Ministry album.)
Liquor And Poker's inaugural CMJ showcase a rousing success
Six months after hosting the biggest party at South By Southwest,
Liquor And Poker Music held its inaugural showcase at the CMJ Music
Marathon at The Continental in New York City on Sept. 15. Fireball
Ministry headlined an explosive, debauchery-laden night of great music
from the next generation of rock stars. Also turning in great
performances were The Black Halos, Crash Kelly, The Thieves and The
Illuminati. Liquor And Poker is already planning its return to Austin,
so expect details about its second SXSW showcase in the coming months.
Become a part of the Liquor And Poker team!
We love playing with ourselves, but it's so much more fun to play with
others, so we're looking for one dedicated rock fan to join our team.
The position is based in the Los Angeles-area, and although we don't

-Dee Snider's Van Helsing's Curse Returns This Halloween
In Its Second Season, Snider Says This Year Will Be Bigger Than Last
Van Helsing's Curse, the classical/rock music brainchild of Twisted
Sister frontman Dee Snider, is back this Halloween bringing its
horror-inspired ambience to the stage throughout the month of October.
Playing in select cities through the 31st, Snider's masterpiece
promises to, once again, take audiences through a visceral journey of
the senses with a new haunting show that brings the troupe's famous
album, OCULUS INFERNUM (KOCH Records, 2003) to life through
spell-binding theatrics.
The music, which is performed live by an 18-piece orchestra, a choir
and a rock band, pairs heart-pounding, terrifying original
compositions with clever re-workings of such memorable classic pieces
as Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" (made famous by "The Exorcist"
film), Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata," and more and reaches its
ominous climax with a spine-chilling cover version of Black Sabbath's
classic "Black Sabbath."
Snider will host each date of the tour, providing narration and
setting the tone for the performances and promises audiences that this
year will be even bigger than last. "This is a very visual entity. The
string section is going to be old school Goths, made-up and dressed
accordingly, with flowing dresses, velvet jackets and ruffled shirts
while the electric section will be very new-school, 'Hellraiser' meets
Marilyn Manson, from the hair to the makeup and attire. Our choir will
be a group of druids with hooded robes and skewed faces."
Enthused about the widespread possibilities for the Van Helsing's
Curse project, Snider says "As the creator for Van Helsing's Curse, I
think the original vision is far-reaching. I see us establishing Van
Helsing's Curse as a significant yearly Halloween experience and a
musical part of that experience. Right now, for the most part,
people's Halloween activities include visiting a haunt, going trick or
treating, going to a Halloween party or watching horror movie
marathons. But the musical element is sorely lacking, and Van
Helsing's Curse provides that soundtrack for people's Halloween. It's
definitely a far-reaching concept that can translate into TV,
videogames, theater, movies, etc., but it all starts here with the
music and our upcoming tour."
A lifelong fan of horror, Snider first made a foray into the genre
writing, producing and starring in the successful cult film
"StrangeLand" and its accompanying soundtrack. A sequel to the film is
currently in production. In 2000, Dee entrenched himself further in
the world of horror by narrating a documentary/retrospect home video
regarding the making of the movie "Halloween."
Van Helsing's Curse will be hitting the following cities this
Halloween.
October 27th - Detroit, MI - Emerald Theatre*
October 28th - Philadelphia, PA - Keswick Theatre*
October 29th - Long Island, NY - Patchogue Theatre*
October 30th - Asbury Park, NJ - Paramount Theatre
*Two show engagements.

-Norwegian Industrial Rock Band Mortiis Hits America Hard On Blackest
Of The Black Tour
BOISE, Idaho -- One week into the Blackest Of The Black Tour, the
iniquitous Norwegian industrial rock band Mortiis has been greeted by
a fervent response from American audiences.
"The response has been amazing so far," said Mortiis' frontman and
namesake. "We've been playing in front of about 1,000 people every
night."
NEO in Chicago will host an aftershow/DVD release party for Mortiis'
upcoming SOUL IN A HOLE DVD following this Monday's show at that
city's House Of Blues. The party will run from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. There
is no cover. NEO is located at 2350 N. Clark Street, Chicago, Ill.
60614. (773) 528-2622
Mortiis began his journey down an ever-evolving path in the early '90s
as a singular mastermind who a decade later would be the namesake of
Mortiis' full-band incarnation. Mortiis -- the man and the band --
have traveled many musical paths over the course of their career, with
each release stepping further away from the last and expanding into
new territories. The Mortiis of today takes the darkness of the
earlier ambient creations and fuses it with deep-seated anger and
aggression. THE GRUDGE, Mortiis's latest release, is a twisted mixture
of electronics, fierce guitars, and hard-hitting drumming.
The Blackest Of The Black line-up features Danzig (joined by former
Misfit Doyle), Chimaira, Behemoth, Himsa, and The Agony Scene.

-Martin Popoff Releases "Rainbow: English Castle Magic"!
The Man In Black...
His name is Ritchie Blackmore and his reputation is legion. But is it
warranted? Find out now, as we look at the man's career as reigning
lord over the constantly evolving consortium of monster talents known
as Rainbow.
Ronnie James Dio, Joe Lynn Turner, Graham Bonnet, Roger Glover, Tony
Carey, Bobby Rondinelli, Bob Daisley, Jimmy Bain, Doogie White, and of
course Ritchie himself... they all get their say through pages and
pages of previously unpublished interview footage, on what makes the
Man In Black tick, his pranks, his sly hirings and swift firings.
And of course, there's the music. From the raw and fiery Dio years,
through the classic DOWN TO EARTH album, the smooth crooning Joe Lynn
Turner era and into one final under-rated record fronted by Doogie
White, it's all examined here... track by track, fascinating tale by
trick.
Rainbow is the band that wrote "Man On The Silver Mountain,"
"Sixteenth Century Greensleeves," "Stargazer," "A Light In The Black,"
"Tarot Woman," "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll," "Gates Of Babylon," "All
Night Long," "Eyes Of The World," "Spotlight Kid," "Can't Happen
Here," "Stone Cold," "Street Of Dreams," "Can't Let You Go" and
"Hunting Humans," and this is the book you should read to find out
WHY!
The book is 227 pages, and the format is album by album, song by song
-- there aren't any songs, from the debut through to STRANGER IN US
ALL, that don't get talked about by Martin or the guys or both. In and
around that though, there is lots of tour talk, gettin' inside the
guys' heads, as well as some documentation of the post-Rainbow
Blackmore's Night band, interview footage with both Ritchie and
Candice included. Also included is a full band discography; song
titles as well.

Montecavolo (Reggio Emilia) - Italy on October 27th. Listeria will
perform some songs from the FULL OF FIRE album and jam with friends
and special guests (tba). Simone Fiorletta who just released his
amazing solo album PARALLEL WORLDS is one of the special guests
appearing at this night.
Our new releases are:
ROB VAN DER LOO'S FREAK NEIL INC. - CHARACTERS
Genre - Progressive Metal
Released - October 21st 2005
Freak Neil Inc. is the new project from Sun Caged bassist Rob van der
Loo. CHARACTERS is modern progressive metal with a highly original
unique sound performed by a stunning assembly of many of the finest
musicians on the modern progressive metal scene.
The album (produced by Joost van den Broek) tells the story of several
different characters who have to deal with their own frustrations in
life. Since each character is unique the album contains several
different musical styles to reflect their personalities. In a few
words the music can be described as: Dark, raw, loud and most of all
weird!
DOGPOUND - A NIGHT IN THE GUTTER
Genre - Melodic Hard Rock
Released - October 21st 2005
Swedish melodic metal sensations Dogpound unleash their second album A
NIGHT IN THE GUTTER which delivers soaring melodic vocals combined
with a grooving modern edge to convey a sound that is unique to the
band.
The powerful vocals of Henrik "Hea" Andersson drive the music with
rich melodies and classic harmonisation that blends with the crunchy
and melodic guitar work of Mikael "Micke" Dahlqvist to stunning
effect. This is further enhanced by the burning rhythm section of
Fredric "Figge" Danielsson on bass and the drums of Calle "Tuka"
Boman.
MILAN POLAK - GUITAR ODYSSEY
Genre - Rock Metal Guitar Instrumental
Released - October 21st 2005
GUITAR ODYSSEY is a new version of Milan Polak's sold out debut
release GUITAR 2001 (originally released in 1995) with new packaging
and a bonus track. GUITAR ODYSSEY follows his universally critically
acclaimed DREAMSCAPES.
Lion Music's new edition sees improved sound, all new packaging and
great artwork as well as a special bonus track in a demo version of
"Where Were You Tomorrow."
LOCOMOTIVE BREATH - CHANGE OF TRACK
Genre - Melodic Hard Rock
Released - October 21st 2005
CHANGE OF TRACK is the third release by Swedish melodic metal band
Locomotive Breath and their debut on Lion Music. On the new album
CHANGE OF TRACK singer Mattias and founder/guitarist Janne Stark have
collaborated more in the song writing process, which definitely shows
on the material. The songs are still heavy and guitar driven, but with
a stronger melodic feel and choruses that stick like epoxy.
CHANGE OF TRACK contains catchy melodies as well as biting guitar work
and heavy riffing and proves the Scandie Metal Scene is still
thriving.

-Tigertailz Cult Albums Finally Get American Release
NEW YORK, NY -- In 1990 Welsh hard rock heroes Tigertailz unleashed an
album that would raise the standard for independent metal albums of
the era. BEZERK, released on the UK's Music for Nations imprint,
featured such anthems as "Noize Level Critical," "Sick Sex" and the
band's calling card, "Love Bomb Baby," all of which helped fuel the
album to over a quarter of a million worldwide sales as well as MTV
attention, Gallup (UK) charting singles and two Top 3 home videos.
"That was one hell of a time," reflects guitarist, Jay Pepper. "It
seemed like just about everything was going our way -- the only market
that eluded us, oddly enough, was America!"
Fifteen years later, Sanctuary Music has finally made that realization
a reality with the North American release of not only BEZERK but that
album's followup, BANZAI (a Japanese only compilation released through
Sony Music in 1991) on October 11 at a special sale price of $10.99
each. Frontman Kim Hooker says, "Finally our American fans will be
able to walk into a record store and be able to pick up our albums and
not have to wait for them to arrive from an import shop someplace. I'm
thinking of flying over there just so I can do that myself!"
Recently featured in Classic Rock magazine as part of their "Welcome
Back..." series via an interview with bassist, Pepsi Tate, Tigertailz
have also completed work on the long awaited BEZERK 2.0 and are
looking to do shows Stateside in mid 2006.

-Killer Metal Records Update
After All - New LP THE VERMIN BREED Out Now!!!
Killer Metal Records KMR-LP001 - Released 21.03.2005
For the recording of their 5th full length album THE VERMIN BREED,

Spiderhouse Studio in Berlin. As the new After All material has grown
faster paced and more thrash oriented since the MERCURY RISING album,
After All chose Harris because of his recording experience with such
bands as Voivod, Kreator, Helloween and Sepultura. The new record
clearly displays the growth of the band, both live and in the studio.
The musical direction After All introduced on MERCURY RISING has now
been finetuned. That makes THE VERMIN BREED one sheer thrash attack.
After All signed a multi-album deal with German label Dockyard 1.
KILLER METAL RECORDS releases THE VERMIN BREED as a limited edition of

Biography:
Since the release of their debut album in 1995, After All -- hailing
from Bruges (Belgium) -- have continuously worked on a strong oeuvre,
resulting in eight critically acclaimed CD and vinyl releases so far.
After All's sound is often described as thrash-laden, contemporary
metal.
Constant touring has provided the band with a strong live reputation
and a cult status in Belgium and Holland. In recent years, After All
shared the bill with such bands as Paradise Lost, Voivod, Saxon, Life
Of Agony, (hed) P.E., Tiamat, Therion, The Gathering, Anathema,
Tristania, Psychotic Waltz and Apocalyptica.
To promote the previous album MERCURY RISING, After All toured
throughout Europe in March 2003 as special guest of US metal veterans
Anthrax. In June After All embarked on a second European tour, this
time with Anthrax and Prong, and the band also played a couple of
shows as special guest of NWOBHM legends Angel Witch. To wrap up 2003
as After All's most succesful year so far, the band hit the road once
again in November. There were a couple of shows booked with US masters
of metal Agent Steel, followed by yet another European tour supporting
US metalheads Overkill and Seven Witches.
Check out our page at Myspace.com. It has an MP3-player with a couple
of tracks from the "Mercury Rising" and "The Vermin Breed" albums. For

-James Christian Invites Listeners To "MEET THE MAN"
House Of Lords singer James Christian has released his second solo
album, MEET THE MAN, in the USA via Frontiers/Locomotive Records.
"I felt it was time to enter the scene again, as melodic rock seems to
have come full circle," Christian said.
Nearly a decade after his first solo offering, RUDE AWAKENING, in
1995, Christian worked with his friend, producer and bassist Fabrizio
Grossi, on choosing musicians to be a part of the record. Songwriting
contributions came from Christian's House Of Lords bandmates Chuck
Wright and Lanny Cordola, Stan Bush (the man who penned House Of
Lords' biggest US hit "Love Don't Lie" in 1988) and the late Judithe
Randall, Christian's artistic mentor.
"Work on a solo record is different because you are responsible for
everything," said Christian. "When you are with a band, everyone
contributes. I love working with a band environment, as well as being
solo."
MEET THE MAN is full of well-crafted, classy melodic rock. As its
title implies, MEET THE MAN is a glimpse at James Christian: The Man,
The Musician, The Songwriter, The Father. "Meet the person behind the
music!" he suggests.
Christian will regroup with House Of Lords this fall to headline two
Firefest shows on November 26 in the UK and November 29 in Athens,
Greece. It will be the first time that the band has played live in the
UK in 17 years.
House Of Lords will release a new album next year.

-Darzamat Works With Andy La Rocque!
Darzamat has begun the recording of its new album which will be
entitled TRANSKARPATIA. There is a huge leap forward in front of the
band as after engraving its traces in Poland, Darzamat's members will
be the guests in Goeteborg's studio at Andy La Rocque (the guitar
player of the cult band King Diamond), who has undertaken the
production of the new record.
La Rocque, who is famous for his play in King Diamond as well as in
Death on the record entitled INDIVIDUAL THOUGHT PATTERNS, acceded to
the cooperation with Darzamat without any hesitation. "We are owing
the ability of making the acquaintance with such a remarkable
personality of the world metal scene to our guests from Lord Belial,
who have been cooperating with Andy for a very long time. I am truly
glad that Darzamat will also be able to work with such an excellent
musician as well as producer," states Flauros, Darzamat's vocalist.
The band is going to Sweden in the second half of October. Except from
the mix, La Rocque will also master the record. The work will take
place in Los Angered, the studio located in Goeteborg, the owner of
which is nobody else but the King Diamond's guitar player himself. It
is worth adding that it is in Los Angered that, among others, the
albums of such groups as In Flames, Evergrey, and the very King
Diamond came into being. At this very moment, in the Polish studio Maq
there are traces of particular instruments being registered, under the
precise surveillance of Jaroslaw Toifl. Yet, the final shape of the
record will be formed in Sweden.
While taking the musical part into consideration, TRANSKARPATIA is the
development of the direction being introduced and followed on the last
record entitled SEMIDEVILISH. However, the new elements and a kind of
perfection in each possible detail, will be the strong trumps of the
new album. There have been some changes in the band since
SEMIDEVILISH. "Our keyboard player, Spectre, joined the composing and
it can undeniably be heard on the new record. The music gained a
certain kind of 'spirit,' which, I personally think, SEMIDEVILISH
slightly lacked," adds Flauros.
Curiously enough, Darzamat has decided to work with the group of
totally new people. "In each case, whether it is the producer, sound
producer, cover designer or a photographer, we have been dealing with
the people we have not cooperated before. The purpose of this kind of
action is for the band and the record to gain freshness and a new
view. These are the real experts in their domains. With every passing
day of the work, we are becoming more and more certain that everything
ideally fits the new album's concept. The author of the cover and
graphics to the record is Qras -- a famous artist from Sosnowiec who
has cooperated among others with Frontside and Horroscope. Photos to
the new album were taken by Katarzyna Zaremba." TRANSKARPATIA will
come out at the beginning of the next year, thanks to Polish label
Metal Mind Productions.

by Keith Abt (Keithabt@...)
-"HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION"
"Good evening Mr. and Mrs. America, and all the ships at sea! Let's go
to press!"
WOW, it has been a long time since the doors to the "Mega-Vault" have
opened, hasn't it? I deeply apologize for my extended M.I.A. status; I
wish I could say that I was unable to file regular reports because I
was following Judas Priest around on tour all summer, or something
similarly cool, but unfortunately the reasons for my absence were far
more mundane. My extra-long sabbatical was caused by a number of
factors, the biggest being a MAJOR remodeling project on my house that
began in late May and is only now finally starting to wind down, so
I've spent a large part of my summer trapped on a never-ending
treadmill of painting, cleaning, furniture moving and decorating. I
have also had to deal with a transfer to a new office, learning a
(very uncooperative) new software program at my job, having my car
towed three times due to a persistent ignition problem, and a brief
experiment in dog adoption that failed miserably (short Reader's
Digest version: My cats hated the dog, it scared my kid, and it bit my
wife...see ya!). As you can see, I've had a very full plate (for my
next trick I will climb up onto my roof in a thunderstorm and juggle
several live chainsaws!) but as I come out of what has been the
longest, busiest summer of my life, I am FINALLY getting into a metal
frame of mind again! I hope you're all as glad to see me as I am to be
seen. :-) On to the goodies, then!
So how did YOU spend your summer vacation, kids? Did you see any of
the big summer tours? I wish I could say that I did, but I'm still
retired (all my spare time and money was eaten by the Remodeling
Monster anyway), although I was severely tempted to come out of my
shell by offerings like Gigantour (which, judging from the attendance
figures I've read on-line, is likely to go down in the history books
as a Gigan-Flop), Iron Maiden's appearance at OZZfest (Sounds like
Bruce Dickinson and Sharon Osbourne won't be exchanging Christmas
cards this December, eh?), the Judas Priest/Queensryche tour, and
W.A.S.P.'s American Metal Blast mini-festival. Missing those shows was
all the more painful for me because my brother scored a hat trick by
seeing Priest, the Metal Blast and Twisted Sister's farewell
performance at the "Rock The Park" festival in Montclair, New Jersey,
so I had to listen to gushing reports of the glories I missed in each
case. Unfortunately the closest I came to anything resembling heavy
metal this summer was a train ride on a locomotive at a "Thomas The
Tank Engine" event in New York's Catskill Mountains with my two and a
half year old son (I did wear an Iron Maiden shirt that day, though,
so I think that should count).
With everything else that's been going on I also haven't been buying
CDs like the good little geek that I usually am (and my new office
location, sadly, is in an area barren of decent CD stores, aarrrrrgh!)
but I have been spinning the hell out of Bruce Dickinson's TYRANNY OF
SOULS, Demons & Wizards' TOUCHED BY THE CRIMSON KING, and 'TAGE MAHAL
by Jon Oliva's Pain all summer. I also seem to be going through a
Classic '80s Thrash Renaissance lately, powered by the Megaforce
Records 2-on-1 reissues of Overkill's FEEL THE FIRE/F**K YOU AND THEN
SOME and Anthrax's FISTFUL OF METAL/ARMED AND DANGEROUS, as well as
Anthrax's excellent ANTHROLOGY: NO HIT WONDERS double-CD. When you
stack those up with the used copies of Sanctuary's classic REFUGE
DENIED and S.O.D.'s SPEAK ENGLISH OR DIE that I picked up for $5.99
and $6.99, respectively, around Memorial Day, you'd swear it was 1988
all over again in my car stereo lately. I'm jonesing to hear
Nevermore's THIS GODLESS ENDEAVOR and Jacobs Dream's DRAMA OF THE
AGES, among others, but haven't gotten around to them yet (if anybody
has an extra copy of either that needs a good home, feel free to
contact me!), and of course I'm counting the days till Helloween's
KEEPER OF THE SEVEN KEYS - THE LEGACY finally hits the racks! It's
been a rough couple of months but it feels really good to finally be
getting back to the metal. I could go on but trust me, I've been
filing away TONS of silly little metal nuggets that will provide
column fodder at least through leaf-raking season, so I promise I will
be back very soon. Thanks for listening and till next time, keep it
real, keep it loud, and keep the beer cold....
-THIS WEEK'S PLAYLIST: Loudness - THUNDER IN THE EAST; Mercyful Fate -
INTO THE UNKNOWN; Saxon - LIONHEART; Sacred Warrior - REBELLION;
Warrior Soul - THE SPACE AGE PLAYBOYS.

by Tim Wadzinski (tsw512@...)
-We took the kid to visit my in-laws over the weekend, and while
everyone crowded around to help with "feeding time" I snuck into the
living room and turned on VH1 Classic's "Metal Mania." First up was
Europe's "Carrie" (yawn) but then came Black Sabbath's "Trashed." Both
my in-laws then came in and no, I didn't change the channel. Nothing
like enjoying a little Sabbath with your child's grandparents. :) This
episode inspired me to pull out BORN AGAIN (1983) a couple days later.
I do like "Trashed" and maybe another song or two, but overall this is
not a very good disc...although I did hear about four or five riffs
that were later stolen by other bands! Easily the best thing about the
album is the '96 Castle reissue's entertaining liner notes...
-The other morning I was walking across town to work and I looked up
and saw a store with "Dress Barn Woman" in the window. Immediately,
Spinal Tap song lyrics popped into my head: "Sex farm woman / I'm
gonna mow you down / Sex farm woman / I'll rake and hoe you down."
Thanks guys. (And is there a more unflattering womens' clothing store
name then Dress BARN? Why not just call it For Cows Only?)
-Also while walking to work this week, I've seen many, nay, TONS, of
my fellow commuters walking and talking on their cell phones. Me, I
listen to music because I don't have too many other chances to do that
anymore. I want to know who these people are and why they're so
freakin' important that they have to yakk on the phone so early in the
morning EVERY DAY. Who are they talking to? Can't it wait?
-Now in my current playlist: Gamma Ray - MAJESTIC (Sanctuary/Mayan),
Alice Cooper - DIRTY DIAMONDS (New West Records), Various - ARMAGEDDON
OVER WACKEN - LIVE 2004 (Magick/Armageddon), Voodoo Hill - WILD SEED
OF MOTHER EARTH (Frontiers/Locomotive).
