-Rhino Conjures Sabbath, The Dio Years

Ronnie James Dio Reunites With Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler to Record
Three New Songs for a Collection of Essential Recordings From
Sabbath's Dio Years; Available April 3 From Rhino

Unreleased Live Album From 1981 Hammersmith Odeon Show to Be Released
As Rhino Handmade Limited Edition On May 1

The Group Will Play a Sold Out Radio City Music Hall Concert on March
30 With World Tour to Follow

LOS ANGELES -- Together for a short but memorable time -- a trio of
studio albums, a classic live album, and a couple of tours -- the
second coming of Black Sabbath began in 1979 when founding members
Tony Iommi and Terry "Geezer" Butler were joined by Ronnie James Dio.
The former singer of Elf (and later Rainbow and Dio) added his fiery,
demonic howl to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame group's crushing mix of
iconic riffs, gloomy grooves and doom-soaked imagery.

In late 2006 Dio, Iommi and Butler, joined by drummer Vinny Appice,
reunited to record three new songs for Rhino Records' era-spanning
collection, BLACK SABBATH: THE DIO YEARS. These recording sessions
went so well that the quartet -- billed as Heaven & Hell -- will
launch a highly anticipated world tour this spring. The group will
play a dozen dates in Canada in March before taking the stage of the
famed Radio City Music Hall in New York City on March 30 to play their
only U.S. date until the band launches a full tour of the States later
this year.

The first comprehensive introduction to the band's legacy, BLACK
SABBATH: THE DIO YEARS features a dozen classic studio recordings,
plus one live track -- "Children Of The Sea" from 1982's LIVE EVIL.
The collection also contains the three brand-new tracks -- "The Devil
Cried," "Shadow Of The Wind," and "Ear In The Wall." The disc will be
available April 3 at all physical retail outlets and at
http://www.rhino.com/ for a suggested list price of $18.98. The album
will also be available at all digital retail outlets for a suggested
retail price of $11.99.

Arranged chronologically, the compilation spotlights Dio's time with
Black Sabbath and draws heavily from the lineup's 1980 debut and 1981
follow-up, HEAVEN AND HELL and MOB RULES, respectively. Recognized as
back-to-back metal classics, the albums feature such signature songs
as the title tracks, "Neon Knights," "Die Young," "Turn Up The Night"
and "Voodoo." THE DIO YEARS also features "After All (The Dead)," "TV
Crimes" and "I" from the singer's brief reunion with Sabbath for the
DEHUMANIZER album and tour.

On May 1, Rhino Handmade will release BLACK SABBATTH: LIVE AT
HAMMERSMITH ODEON, which features Dio, Iommi, Butler and Appice
getting hot one December night in London during Sabbath's 1981 tour
for MOB RULES. Previously unreleased, the concert spotlights Sabbath
as they storm through 14 of the Dio-era's best including "Neon
Knights," "Heaven And Hell," "Children Of The Sea" and "Country Girl."
The band also performs several pre-Dio classics including "Paranoid,"
"Children Of The Grave" and a white-hot version of "War Pigs." The
album will be available from Rhino Handmade as an individually
numbered limited edition of 5,000 copies, available only at
http://www.rhinohandmade.com/ for a suggested retail price of $19.98.

Akashic Posts Video For The Song "Dove"

The prog metallers of Akashic posted on-line their brand new video
clip for the song "Dove," taken from the band's first album, TIMELESS
REALM.

About the song they say: "We chose 'Dove' because it's an important
song in the band's history. It's one of the oldest themes, taken from
the first CD TIMELESS REALM and is always present in our set list.
Because of its marking melody lots of people got interested in our
work. People who were our fan liked and the ones who didn't knew us
became fan. When we talked with the director [Marcelo Mugnol] it was
fast for us to find the direction of the images and edition. The
observation of the camera goes from slow to intense, from the urban
space to a more free one. The band is exposed purely with the music
and play."

-Five New Bands Confirmed For Sweden Rock Festival 2007

SYMPHONY X (US)
Symphony X from New Jersey is arguably the only band being serious
competitors with Dream Theater for the championship in
progressive/symphonic metal. Their eponymous debut was released in
1994, followed shortly by new vocalist Russell Allan joining the ranks
-- and now Symphony X was a force to be seriously reckoned with. The
following six releases -- five studio and one live -- are all classics
and totally indispensable for any fan of progressive metal. Since the
release of THE ODYSSEY in 2002 the band has mainly devoted their
energy to different side projects, and their scheduled appearance at
SRF last year had to be cancelled for bassist Mike LePond to undergo
an emergency stomach operation. But better late than never: Symphony X
will soon be releasing their highly anticipated seventh studio album,
and are now confirmed for their first SRF appearance since 2001. Front
figures are, as always, the above-mentioned Russell Allan and lauded
guitarist Michael Romeo. (We recommend: THE DAMNATION GAME, THE DIVINE
WINGS OF TRAGEDY, THE ODYSSEY.)

SKID ROW (US)
When you talk about the '80s and sleaze a couple of bands are always
mentioned, one of them is of course Skid Row. In the '80s the band was
fronted by Sebastian Bach, who actually visited Sweden Rock a few
years ago. The band had some massive hits with songs like "18 And
Life," "Youth Gone Wild" and "I Remember You." Skid Row has, since
Sebastian left, proven they still can deliver the goods, this when
they returned in 1999 when the highly potent lead singer Johnny
Solinger. The band has since released two albums, THICKSKIN and the
latest release REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE.

QUIET RIOT (US)
Kevin DuBrow, Randy Rhoads, Drew Forsyth and Kelli Garni once formed
the basics of Quite Riot. The band's first two albums only saw the
light of day on the Japanese market. After this Randy was hired by
Ozzy Osbourne and tragically died in a plane crash in 1982. Kevin
however kept the banner flying and made great impact in the '80s hair
band era with the album METAL HEALTH. The band even had a couple of
massive hits with two old Slade numbers: "Cum Feel The Noize" and
"Mama Weer All Crazee Now" in the '80s. This year, after some time of
silence Quiet Riot's new album REHAB shows the band is still rocking
strong. Today's lineup consists of Kevin, Alex Grossi (guitar), Chuck
Wright (bass) and longtime member Franki Banali (drums).

KORPIKLAANI (FIN)
Korpiklaani band leader Jonne Järvelä is perhaps best known as the
supplier of yoik vocals on the Finntroll album JAKTENS TID (2001), but
his own band also deserves wider recognition outside of their native
Finland. Under their previous name Shaman, the band released two
albums in Lappish(!). They released their first album as Korpiklaani
in 2003, and their fourth one unde that monicker will appear in May,
titled TERAVASKANTO. Korpiklaani's lyrics are mainly in English, but
they also often write in Finnish and traditional Finnish music and
instruments are one of the cornerstones of the band's recognizable
sound. The other one is, obviously, vicious hard rock. Much like
Finntroll, Korpiklaani have the status of folk metal kings in their
home country. By attending SRF, they will undoubtedly gain a legion of
new fans in Sweden as well. (We recommend: SPIRIT OF THE FOREST, VOICE
OF THE WILDERNESS, TALES ALONG THIS ROAD.)

MCQUEEN (UK)
From Brighton, England, comes this female and punky quartet, who
opened for such bands as Cheap Trick, L.A. Guns, W.A.S.P. and The
Almighty before they had even released their first album! Said album
hit the shops in January 2007, titled BREAK THE SILENCE. Since its
release, McQueen have already appeared at a festival in Vietnam(!) and
are about to embark on a tour in Germany. So it will be a both tight
and aggressive live unit that comes to add the audience at SRF to
their list of conquests. (We recommend: BREAK THE SILENCE.)

-Former Fuel Drummer Finds New Home With Silent Majority Group

SMG Signs Fosterchild And Reveals Album News

Silent Majority Group (SMG) has announced the signing of Fosterchild,
a four-piece rock band featuring former Fuel drummer Kevin Miller.
Currently in the studio in Orlando, FL with co-producers Brett Hestla
(Virgos, Dark New Day) and Pete Thornton (Shinedown, Limp Bizkit), the
band's debut is slated for an early March release.

The album, which is tentatively titled INDEPENDENCE DAY, will feature
11 songs, including its first single "Sugar Cookie" which is already
at 60 on the mainstream rock charts with spins in Allentown, PA,
Harrisburg, PA, and Chicago, IL. The band also has commitments from 98
Rock Baltimore, WYSP Free FM Philly and 95-9 The Rat in New Jersey.

"We are really excited about adding Fosterchild to our family of
artists," said Jeffrey Hanson, founder and CEO of SMG. "The band's
sound and presence is undeniable and in today's cookie-cutter
industry, I think that there are going to be a lot of surprised people
out there. For those who have somehow forgotten what rock n' roll is
all about, I invite you to give these boys a listen."

Hanson has earned critical acclaim as the manager for multi-platinum-
selling artists Creed and Sevendust and says that he recognized
Fosterchild's talent early on. He compares the band's style to early
Motley Crue and says that lead singer Danny Beissel's vocals are
reminiscent of the late Bon Scott.

"From the first wail of Brian Quinn's guitar and Danny's cool, melodic
voice, I knew this band was something special. Then, Kevin Miller's
thunderous back beats and Erik Leonhardt's driving bass rhythms kicked
in and I knew this was a force to be reckoned with."

Fosterchild was formed in 2005 by drummer Kevin Miller and guitarist
Brian Quinn soon after Miller's departure from Fuel and Quinn's
resignation from Octane. Hailing from Philadelphia, the band has
enjoyed success touring up and down the East Coast, performing with
such bands as Theory Of A Deadman, Sugar Ray, Black Label Society and
more. For more information, visit http://www.Fosterchildmusic.com/ .

About SMG
SMG is a full service record and management company that specializes
in developing alternative and rock acts. Founded by Jeffrey Hanson,
who has managed such artists such as Wind-Up's Creed, Fueled By
Ramen's Paramore and TVT's Sevendust, the company offers support in
all areas of the music industry. Today, the company boasts an
impressive roster of artists, including Stillife, Woodale, StorySide

-Zombie's John 5: New Release April 3rd

THE DEVIL KNOWS MY NAME Featuring Joe Satriani, Jim Root & Eric
Johnson

HOLLYWOOD -- Out of the dark passages of John 5's mind comes this
mind-blowing, sinister guitar instrumental. THE DEVIL KNOWS MY NAME is
John 5's third solo album, due out on April 3rd, 2007, which features
guest guitar solos from two legendary guitarists -- Joe Satriani and
Eric Johnson with newer legend in-the-make Jim Root (Slipknot).
Keeping time are Zombie band mates Tommy Clufetos (drums) and Piggy D.
(bass). The album was recorded in the middle of night where John 5
would lay down his leads -- this is the only album that all leads were
doubled -- an instrumental feat that is rarely taken on by the best of
the guitar players.

THE DEVIL KNOWS MY NAME melds around clues, quotes and references of
serial killers, wielding an eerie tone for those who dare to enter the
world of John 5's mind. "I wanted a different tone to the instrumental
with twisted imagery of sounds," explains John 5. "Utilizing serial
killers came to light for this project while looking at their crimes
and how distorted their minds work."

Not all is sinister on THE DEVIL KNOWS MY NAME but there are tunnels
to the past greats. John 5 shreds-out his version of Guns N' Roses
"Welcome To The Jungle" and Chet Atkins' "Young Thing." "I chose
'Welcome To The Jungle' for the one reason -- when I was becoming
successful it was easy to stay in the nest back home, then I saw the
video and that made me get up and go to Hollywood." "Welcome To The
Jungle" will be the first release off the album and is hitting the
airwaves soon.

John 5 has created a worldwide following as a widely respected
guitarist with such platinum artists as Marilyn Manson, David Lee
Roth, Rob Halford and now an integral member of Rob Zombie. John 5's
eclectic influences combine for a truly unique guitar oriented record
that once again sets new standards in the genre.

-Kruger Releases Two New Songs From REDEMPTION THROUGH LOOSENESS On
MySpace!

After a rocking debut and aggro-belting album, BUILT FOR SPEED, the
Swiss, whiskey-induced, metal hybrid Kruger continued to make
themselves known in 2005 with a massive, heavy and promising second
piece mixed by Fredrik Nordstrom in a very Swedish (think "thick")
kind of way. CATTLE TRUCK has since been acclaimed by both critics and
fans throughout Europe, and allowed Kruger to share the stage with
bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Isis, Cult Of Luna, Sleeppers,
Gojira or Unsane, with whom they hold the comparison very decently.
They even slaughtered the stage this year at the mythical Montreux
Jazz festival!

Now in 2007, Kruger delivers an epic and intense follow-up, REDEMPTION
THROUGH LOOSENESS. Gloomy and dark, yet overwhelmingly powerful, this
new nine-track album drowns the band's acknowledged influences
(Breach, Entombed, Tool, Neurosis) into an intense magma of shredding
metallurgic charge, drilling vocal turpitudes and desperate, naked
heaviness. Thematically stuck into out-of-subject considerations and
cynical bottle stories, Kruger drive faster and louder, crashing the
post-hardcore clichés in their way.

Have a drink, relax, be loose: Redemption, the Kruger way. Damn! This
is heavy as f*ck!

"Kruger sounds a lot like a mix between Breach's industrial leanings
and Isis' heavy slow drone. They pick things up a lot more than Isis,
though, and these components never detract from the originality and
talent on the disk. Kruger really creates a unique sound."

Schedules California Metalfest Appearance

Fresh off a string of support dates alongside label mates All That
Remains, Bay Area thrashers Light This City have just confirmed a
support slot on an upcoming two-week tour with fellow California bands
The Faceless and Antagonist. Having spent the bulk of late 2006
touring in support of the band's latest album, FACING THE THOUSAND,
Light This City will also appear at the second annual California
Metalfest alongside Testament, Flotsam And Jetsam, Sadus and label

Light This City recently completed filming for the band's first music
video with director Soren for the track "The Unwelcome Savior" in Los
Angeles, Calif. after the band's final night supporting label mates
All That Remains at the end of January. "It was an amazing experience,
and we felt honored to work with someone who has so much experience
capturing the intensity of this style of music," the band commented
via the Light This City MySpace page (
http://www.myspace.com/lightthiscity ). "What we saw of the video
looked stunning, and we can't wait for it to make its on-line and
television debut! Stay tuned in the next few weeks for a teaser
trailer."

"The Bay Area was the heart of the '80s-based thrash scene that still
reverberates worldwide some two decades later, whilst Gothenburg is a
city that inspired a whole legion to re-appreciate the art of leads
and solos. Light This City is part of that legion but, as 2005's
excellent REMAINS OF THE GODS, and latest raging thrashfest FACING THE
THOUSAND can attest, Light This City stands above its contemporaries,
bringing a new dimension to both the fabled Gothenburg sound as well
as Bay Area thrash." - Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles magazine

"Now, with the days of homeroom and required reading assignments
finally behind them, Light This City have released FACING THE
THOUSAND, a mature third disc that combines the band's penchant for
Gothenburg thrash with zigzagging guitar solos and an occasional dash
of post-hardcore melodicism." - Revolver magazine

"When Laura Nichol uncorks her lungs, it's hard to believe she's not a
tattooed Swedish man with a flea-ridden beard, but an 18-year-old from
California. 'Cradle For A King' actually twists and turns ubiquitous
At The Gates and Carcass influences into something interesting, while
the guitar harmonies on both 'The Unwelcome Savior' and 'Exile' -- not
to mention the warp-speed Bolt Thrower feel of the latter -- bubble
over with molten excitement and energy." - Decibel magazine

"...blessed with scores of killer riffs and thrash expertise that
raises them far above the hordes of identikit Killswitch Engage
imitators, youthful Bay Area mob may have geography on their side, but
with windmill-tastic tunes like 'Maddening Swarm' they could be from
Bognor and still be a killer thrash attack." - Kerrang magazine

"Such a delicious combination is sure to set our pulses racing, and
FACING THE THOUSAND does not disappoint...LTC possess chops that At
The Gates would've been proud of." - Metal Hammer magazine

"...FACING THE THOUSAND is a stellar album, one steeped in metallica
tradition yet thoroughly modern in every sense of the word." - Chord
magazine

-Through The Eyes Of The Dead Scheduled For European Tour

South Carolina's Through The Eyes Of The Dead have been confirmed for
a European tour alongside Dead To Fall and Ion Dissonance throughout
May later this year. Currently demoing material and rehearsing to
enter the studio to record the band's new album, MALICE, the tour
marks Through The Eyes Of The Dead's first time touring Europe since
forming in 2003.

Having already supported the band's 2005 Prosthetic Records debut,
BLOODLUST, most recently with appearances at Sounds Of The Underground
and on a fall headlining tour in 2006, Through The Eyes Of The Dead
will enter Mana Studios with producer Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, ex-
Morbid Angel) February 16 to lay down tracks for MALICE, currently
slated for a tentative summer 2007 release. Alan Douches (Unearth,
Shadows Fall) will handle mastering and Paul Romano (Mastodon, The Red
Chord) will return for artwork duties.

"The new material is coming along nicely," guitarist Justin Longshore
said previously. "The songs are a lot more mature and the music is
much faster, aggressive, and way more pissed off. I think fans are
going to really love it. We are really pumped to work with Erik Rutan
on MALICE. We've never worked with a producer and I don't think we
could have chosen anyone better; we really admire the work he's done
in Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal and also the engineering efforts he's
produced for Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, and Premonitions Of War,
among others. After we hit the studio, we plan to dominate the world
once again and tour throughout the year. We will be playing a lot of
new places including Europe. 2007 is going to be an exciting year for
TTEOTD."

"BLOODLUST is a terrifying onslaught that wouldn't have the first clue
what to do with a sing-along chorus. Except stab it in the face,
obviously." â€" Kerrang!

scything intensity and superhuman kick-drum violence are their stock
in trade, but the songs are shrewdly written and arranged too..." â€"
Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles

"BLOODLUST can only be described as premeditated musical warfare" -
AMP magazine

"Call them death, metalcore or even deathcore, it doesn't alter the
fact that these guys know exactly what it takes to make a brutal
record, bolting together a variety of styles to create a fearsomely
deranged sound." â€" Metal Hammer

-Yakuza Begins Tracking New Material

Chicago's Yakuza have begun demoing new material in the band's
hometown at Semifour Studios for the band's forthcoming new album,
tentatively titled TRANSMUTATIONS and scheduled for a late 2007
release through Prosthetic Records. Sanford Parker (Pelican, Minsk ,
Rwake), who made a guest appearance on the band's last release,
SAMSARA, will be handling production duties when the band begins
recording Feb. 28.

"This time it's all about variety, each song has its own personality
with the album covering a much broader spectrum," frontman Bruce
Lamont said. "The extremes are really drastic: super schizoid-brutal
to almost reflective and minimal. Just like with SAMSARA, we're
looking at this album as a whole. I don't want to say the album will
be an 'experience' per-se because that sounds too hippie-ish, but it's
gonna be one of those things that you have to listen to start to
finish."

Yakuza has been also been added to the Chicago date of the upcoming
tour featuring Genghis Tron and label mates Kylesa at the Beat Kitchen
and the band will be previewing new material at the show.

Yakuza on tour
4/8 Chicago, IL â€" Beat Kitchen (with Genghis Tron, Kylesa)

###

"This is extremity as art, uncompromising, dynamic, and unforgiving as
an avalanche of bricks. Hopefully, the rest of the metal world can
catch up to these cats in time to give SAMSARA the recognition it
deserves." - Blabbermouth

"...foaming at the mouth musical delivery is complemented by some of
the raddest and most cohesively efficient song structures out there."
- Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles

"...a stupefying collision of lumbering, fuzzed-up riffs, prog-jazz
oddness and warped psychedelia, played with enough shamanistic force
to make the sky collapse itself." - Kerrang

"The Chicago quartet's newest nose-bleeding excursions, free-jazz
workouts and tribal-drum barrages thrust thrash, hardcore, noise and
prog elements into a food processor, the songs eradicating conventions
as they bound between harsh heaviness and wander-through-the-desert
calmness." - Chicago Tribune

"It'd be easy to tag Yakuza as a prog-metal band and be done with it,
but that would somehow be selling its range and versatility (not to
mention its creativity) short. This is progressive only in the sense
that it is attempting to take the genre forward. But make no mistake:
This is a metal album, and a damn fine one at that." - Chord

"So scary, we think you'll crap your pants... This could be the next
step on for heavy music." - Metal Hammer

"Yakuza no longer have to whip out every trick in their book on every
track; they're now making music that, like the best jazz and rock,
develops organically as it goes along." - Alternative Press

-I watched about 10 minutes of the Grammy show on Sunday, just long
enough to see The Police reunite and play..."Roxanne." Ho hum.
C'mon... That's like Kiss playing "Rock And Roll All Nite" to me,
where there's like 10 other songs (minimum) that I'd rather hear. Oh
well. I know this isn't very metal but I dig The Police, and I'd love
to see their reunion tour this year. Rumor has it the Chicago show(s)
will be at Wrigley Field -- that would be pretty cool. I still list
"Synchronicity I," "Synchronicity II," and "Every Breath You Take"
from 1983's SYNCHRONICITY among my all-time favorite songs. Stewart
Copeland is a fun drummer to watch. Not quite Mikkey Dee bashing away
on the double bass, mind you, but fun just the same.

-Now in my current playlist: Iron Maiden - DEATH ON THE ROAD (DVD)
(Sanctuary), Glenn Hughes - MUSIC FOR THE DIVINE (Demolition Records),
Heaven & Earth - THE MAKING OF HEAVEN & EARTH (DVD) (Black Star
Records), Moonlight Comedy - DOROTHY (Lion Music).
