After their biggest and most successful releases THE BLACK HALO and
the critically acclaimed ONE COLD WINTER'S NIGHT metal pioneers
Kamelot return with another studio masterpiece; GHOST OPERA which will
hit stores on these dates:

GHOST OPERA will be Kamelot's third release via SPV/Steamhammer
Records.

GHOST OPERA was recorded and mixed at Gate Studios and Pathway Studios
in Wolfsburg, Germany with producers Sascha Paeth and Miro. Artwork
was handled by Mattias Noren with contributions by Alexandra V. Bach,
Liliana Sanchez and Derek Gores. A limited-edition digipack version of
the CD will include the bonus cut "The Pendulous Fall" along with a
bonus DVD containing the video for the album's title track, "Ghost
Opera," shot by director Ivan Colic of Serbia's ICode Team as well as
the making of the "Ghost Opera" video. The Limited Edition will
contain a special extended booklet as well.

SPV records will release a strictly limited single CD of "Ghost Opera"
to be handed out to fans attending the European Tour in March, April
and May 2007.

Lordi starts their inaugural "monster invasion" of North America which
will start April 20th, 2007 in Anaheim, California at House of Blues
and end with a two-night stint at the Bamboozle music festival in East
Rutherford, New Jersey on May 5th and 6th, 2007.

About touring North America for the first time, Mr. Lordi says, "I'm
really anxious to see how the audiences are gonna react to us. From
our point of view touring the States is like 'coming home.' I know it
sounds weird for a Finnish band to say that but we are often described
as the 'most American band' in Finland. [laughs] You see all of our
influences, mostly musical and visual, come from the States, so...
we're keeping our fingers crossed."

Polish and Dutch death metal bands Behemoth and God Dethroned have
been added to the lineup of the ninth annual New England Metal And
Hardcore Festival, presented by ESP Guitars & Basses and Krank Amps on
Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28.

Abigail Williams, Daath, Ligeia, Impious, 3, and Epicurean.

The festival will join forces with Metal Blade this year to celebrate
the label's 25th anniversary. The main and side stages will both

After a rocking debut and aggro-belting album, BUILT FOR SPEED the
Swiss, whiskey-induced, metal hybrid Kruger continued to make
themselves known in 2005 with a massive, heavy and promising second
piece mixed by Fredrik Nordstrom in a very Swedish (think "thick")
kind of way. CATTLE TRUCK has since been acclaimed by both critics and
fans throughout Europe, and allowed Kruger to share the stage with
bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Isis, Cult Of Luna, Sleeppers,

Scarve - THE UNDERCURRENT - Coming soon!

French masters of modern dissonant thrash Scarve have posted a new
song, entitled "Endangered," on their MySpace page. The track comes
off of the band's upcoming album, THE UNDERCURRENT, which will be
released this April through Listenable Records.

The follow-up to the group's critically acclaimed IRRADIANT album
(2004), THE UNDERCURRENT was recorded in part at the Dug-Out facility
in Uppsala, Sweden with renowned Swedish producer Daniel Bergstrand,
whose previous credits include Meshuggah, In Flames, Strapping Young
Lad and Soilwork.

This album marks a grandiose return of the band marking them as
pioneers and way ahead of their time.

Beyond any doubt the most sophisticated, intricate, unconventional

-ChthoniC Guitarist Jesse Forges Relationship With Caparison Guitars

TRENTON, N.J. -- ChthoniC guitarist Jesse has been chosen by Caparison
Guitars as an official spokesperson.

Jesse joins the ranks of notable guitarists from Killswitch Engage,
Soilwork, The Haunted, King Diamond, Symphony X, and I Killed The Prom
Queen as a spokesperson.

Caparison has shown great interest in ChthoniC, Taiwan's biggest heavy
metal export, since the band's Japanese shows earlier this year. Mr.
Kaneko Yusuke, who is in charge of Caparison, attended both of
ChthoniC's two shows in Japan and was impressed with Jesse's
performances. Mr. Yusuke and Jesse spoke backstage and exchanged their
opinions about guitars, and Mr. Yusuke was impressed by Jesse's
knowledge of guitar sounds. A spokesman proposal immediately followed
the shows.

Caparison is now working on a custom made guitar according to Jesse's
specifications. "He only saw me perform twice, but he fully
understands all my requirements," Jesse said. This personal, one-of-a-
kind guitar will be loaded and arrive Taiwan by end of March.

-No it ain't metal but they just announced The Police's Chicago show
will be July 5 at Wrigley Field. I would *love* to see this show but
you know 1) it's going to be outrageously expensive and 2) it will be
a friggin' logistical nightmare getting into and out of that area so
close to a holiday. I hate to be such an old man about it but
sheesh... Prolly won't be going. :( (I guess I am old, though. My god
son just turned 16... Yikes.)

-The "At Play" section of today's Chicago Tribune has a funny picture
on page 3, of a pair of young hotties sipping drinks out at some bar.
They're both wearing fashionable earrings and cute skimpy tops...and
the one on the left has some major nippleage going on. You know her
dad's oh so proud.

-I mentioned it above in "News/Rumors" but that post-facelift picture
of Gene Simmons is just plain brutal. I know people heal up from that
stuff but ugh... He looks like an old, overweight Asian woman who's
been attacked by a pit bull in that picture.

I've always enjoyed film soundtracks, not necessarily the hit songs
that movies often launch but more often the background music you hear
playing throughout the film. Suffice it to say that because movie
music must often reflect a variety of moods and atmospheres, any
composer of such soundtracks must be a master of diversity, able to
deliver exactly what is required for various scenes. Ray DeTone is a
New York based musician known for his work with such artists as Drive,
She Said and Paul Dianno's Killers, but on GUITAR NOIR he stretches
out his compositional skills to include rock, metal, blues, jazz,
flamenco, progressive, and Latin styles, creating an enjoyable mix of
instrumentals. Originally intended to be used for TV and films, Ray
selected 15 of his favorite pieces from the writing sessions and
included them on GUITAR NOIR. Songs like "Tequila Funk," "Jazzy Blues
Bop," "March Of Grind" and "Spanish Gypsy" clearly demonstrate why Ray
is a sought after composer, session player and producer. Ray keeps
things interesting not only by incorporating such variety but also by
including a healthy dose of melody in his compositions. The mix on
GUITAR NOIR is quite good, only the drum machine on several tracks
detracting somewhat from the instrumentation. Overall an engaging and
infectious album from someone I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more
from in the future.

DOKKEN - FROM CONCEPTION: LIVE 1981 (B) Rhino, 2007

Let me get this out of the way right off -- the concert on this live
album couldn't really have been recorded in 1981 because the liners
say Jeff Pilson is on bass, and he was not in the band at that time,
right??? Anyway... What we have here is a pretty cool snapshot of
Dokken's *very* early years, when their only official release was the
BREAKING THE CHAINS debut. This show (I believe it was recorded
somewhere overseas) features a George Lynch guitar solo, album tracks
"Paris Is Burning," "In The Middle," "Young Girls," "Nightrider,"
"Live To Rock (Rock To Live)," and "Breaking The Chains," and the
previously unreleased "Goin' Down," "Hit And Run," and "Liar." The
three "new" songs are all decent and right in line with the band's
other stuff from that era: "Goin' Down" has some dopey (but fun)
lyrics and a great hook, "Hit And Run" has a great driving beat but
seems unfinished, and "Liar" is probably the best and most complete.
And check this -- they're all rockers so that means this *whole* show
is ballad-free. Once "Alone Again" from 1984's TOOTH AND NAIL hit the
airwaves, the era of ballad-free Dokken concerts ended once and for
all, which makes this disc noteworthy. Dokken collectors and '80s
metal historians need this.
