-"Get Thrashed: The Story Of Thrash Metal" To Make West Coast Premiere
In 2007 Silver Lake Film Festival

Following successful screenings and rave reviews at film festivals in
London, Austin, and Philadelphia, the makers of "Get Thrashed: The
Story Of Thrash Metal" are proud to announce that the documentary will
be screening in the MusicFest portion of the Silver Lake Film Festival
in Los Angeles. The film will screen on Saturday night, May 5th, at
11:45 pm at the Los Feliz 3 Theatre located at 1822 North Vermont
Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90027. Tickets and schedule information can be
found at http://www.silverlakefilmfestival.org/ .

"I am completely and totally stoked to be able to bring 'Get Thrashed'
to L.A.," said director Rick Ernst. "So many metal fans from the area
have been asking to see the film and of course, so many great thrash
bands came out of the L.A. scene -- from Slayer to Suicidal, Hirax to
Dark Angel -- and so many more. I can't wait for L.A. to 'Get
Thrashed!'"

"Thrash was the perfect fusion of our passion for the musical skills
of European metal but with the attitude of punk and hardcore," said
bassist David Ellefson, currently a member of Temple Of Brutality and
F5. "This film is a like a family reunion of all the key players from
the scene and documents the huge impact we had on today's music. We
helped give metal its musical and lyrical credibility and respect for
the generations to follow. With this, we finally created a credible
style of metal that we could dub 'Made in the U.S.A.' I'm glad to see
Thrash metal finally getting its due."

"Get Thrashed: The Story Of Thrash Metal" traces the rise, fall and
impact of thrash metal, an extreme style of heavy metal popularized in
the early 1980s by bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax,
Suicidal Tendencies and others. It is the story of the heaviest,
hardest music of the '80s and early '90s as told by the bands that
lived it, the fans and bands that grew up on it and by the artists
that carry the "thrash metal" flag today. The documentary throws new
light on an overlooked, yet incredible music scene and how it went
from a simple rumbling in the underground to a loud, obnoxious and
constant roar in the (almost) mainstream. The trailer and more
information can be found at http://www.GetThrashed.com/ . The
documentary is produced by Saigon1515 Productions in association with
Kundrat Productions. "Get Thrashed" was directed by Rick Ernst and the
documentary's Associate Producer is Rat Skates, former drummer of
Overkill.

Since it was established in 1999, the Silver Lake Film Festival, a
nonprofit organization, has showcased the works of hundreds of
independent next-generation as well established filmmakers. Among the
filmmakers who have participated in and whose motion pictures have
been showcased at the festival are Penelope Spheeris ("The Decline Of
Western Civilization"), Gregg Araki ("The Doom Generation"), Justin
Lin ("The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift"), Stuart Gordon ("Masters
Of Horror") and many others. The 7th Annual Silver Lake Film Festival,
May 3-12, 2007 in venues throughout Los Angeles, will honor among its
Spirit of Silver Lake recipients the filmmaking couple Jonathan Dayton
and Valerie Faris, co-directors of the critically-acclaimed
independent film "Little Miss Sunshine."

-Trouble / Retro Grave Update

Retro Grave was born from Jeff Oly Olson, a percussion artist from the
international doom metal band, Trouble, in which he was a founding
member along with vocalist Eric Wagner, bassist, Sean McAllister and
guitarists Bruce Franklin and Rick Wartell. Drawing from Black Sabbath
for inspiration (with occasional nods to the psychedelic sounds of the
late '60s thrown in for good measure), the band used gloomy down-tuned
riffs and spiritual, often openly religious lyrics, which earned them
the title, "The Grandfathers Of Doom Metal." The release of Trouble's
debut, PSALM 9, in 1984 and the THE SKULL following in 1985 soon led
to the departure of Olson to pursue teaching music while
simultaneously writing musical scores, recording and releasing on his
own label, Upland Recording, and later receiving a BA degree in Film
Scoring from Berklee College Of Music while still participating in all
of Trouble's future albums with the exception of MANIC FRUSTRATION
recorded in 1992. R.I.P. Barry Stern.

Olson has toured internationally with Trouble, since 1979, headlining
shows throughout the U.S. and performing at numerous music festivals
throughout Europe that included the infamous 1995 Dynamo Open Air
Festival in front of a staggering record high audience for Dynamo of
over 118,000 people. In 2005, Trouble played in Stockholm, Sweden
where they recorded the live DVD TROUBLE - LIVE IN STOCKHOLM. Escapi
Music will release Trouble's new album, SIMPLE MIND CONDITION, in June
2007. The band will be performing throughout Europe and the U.S.A. in
support of their new album throughout the year.

Latest Retro Grave News - http://www.myspace.com/retrograve

Currently, Oly is scheduling drum clinics throughout the U.S. for the
later part of 2007 and throughout 2008 while writing and recording the
untitled debut album for his new band, Retro Grave. Moreover, Oly is
in production with his soon to be released instructional drumming DVDs
and gearing up for a 2007 European tour with Trouble. More to

-Rock Of Ages Charity Festival: Girlschool, Blaze Bayley, Dante Fox,
Sacred Heart & More

Hi Everybody!

Thanks for popping along -- I'm Steve -- the brains behind Rock Of
Ages Fest, and the owner of Rock Of Ages Entertainment. After dwelling
on the idea of when to launch these charitable events, and on what
scale, we decided in January that we were going to hold our first ever
Rock Of Ages Fest as a small indoor event in September this year at
The Palace in Tamworth.

As you know -- the company are trying our best to find you the very
best rock, blues, prog and metal bands on the planet for your personal
pleasure, and more often than not, we succeed, even if I do say so
myself, however, this time, I think we've surprised even ourselves.

The event is a charitable event that aims to raise funds for one of
our elected charities Cancer Research U.K. -- Rock Of Ages Fest is a
brand new initiative aimed at giving rock fans great bands at the
lowest possible cost. The average rock fans end up getting ripped off
and marginalised far too often for our liking, and we're going the
extra mile to make sure everything we do oozes quality, and also
benefits a good cause.

To a number of you, this might sound like Live 8 on a smaller scale --
well -- to people who say that -- I say damn straight, except there is
one major difference. Only the best rock bands get onto the bill here,
and we have set the standard so amazingly high that you will be in for
a real treat!

The vision is to grow the festival year on year from a 500-capacity
event spanning two days this year, up to a 5,000 capacity event
spanning four or five days in just five years. We are already making a
splash in the musical world, and eyes of the major players are being
turned towards this festival in relation to booking bigger and bigger
names each year! Our plan is to hit the 50,000 capacity mark within 10
years, but we can't do it without your support, which, even in the
planning stages of this event, has been truly amazing! We are still in
the process of confirming bands, and we have already received several
dozen requests for information about buying tickets!

The tickets will cost £20.00 for a one-day pass, and £35.00 for an
all-weekend pass. We are going to be selling them through all the
major ticketing agencies.

Further details will appear here as the event progresses! Artists
confirmed for the event (being held on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th
September 2007) are as follows...

DAY ONE:

Girlschool (Headliners) ( http://www.myspace.com/girlschool1 )
Dante Fox ( http://www.myspace.com/dantefox )
The Satin Dolls ( http://www.myspace.com/thesatindollsofficialbandsite
)
Fiori ( http://www.myspace.com/fiorirock )
Rock$tar ( http://www.myspace.com/rockstar_80s_rock_tribute )
Lost In Vegas ( http://www.myspace.com/lostinvegasuk )
Mr Fixit ( http://www.myspace.com/mrfixitrock )
Morph ( http://www.myspace.com/morphrock )

DAY TWO:

Blaze Bayley (Headliners) ( http://www.myspace.com/blazebayley )
Stairway ( http://www.myspace.com/stairway )
Sacred Heart ( http://www.myspace.com/sacredheartshakes )
Daz Rigo ( http://www.myspace.com/dazrigo )
Melonfarmer ( http://www.myspace.com/melonfarmerband )
Fuckshovel ( http://www.myspace.com/fuckshovel )
Jack Viper ( http://www.myspace.com/jackviper05 )

We have just confirmed former Iron Maiden & Wolfsbane vocalist Blaze
Bayley to headline day two of the event, leaving us just to confirm
two other acts officially.

As an added treat, we are keeping two slots available (one each day)
for two lucky bands who will be winners of our competition being
launched in conjunction with our event title-sponsor Sonicbids.

And into the record books go Morph -- opening our first ever Rock Of
Ages Fest -- power to the boys that play rock 'n' roll...!!

We are also proud to announce that Tri-Rock Internet Radio &
Mookhunter.com have been confirmed as official sponsors of the event.
If you wish to sponsor Rock Of Ages Fest 2007 -- please contact Steve
through this profile or at steve@.... This year's event
is really going to rock and we are expecting a capacity crowd through
the doors at what could be the venue's FIRST EVER SELL OUT...!

So please -- turn up, and help us raise money for Cancer Research
U.K., and for victims of the more than 200 forms of Cancer. This event
itself will not cure cancer, but we sure as hell hope that over the
next decade, it will make a serious dent in Cancer's ability to take
our loved ones before their time. This is where the meat hits the
blade, and where you, me, and everyone else can make a real
difference, by sharing in and embracing our hopes and ambitions for
these events, which will eventually extend from the U.K. to Norway,
Sweden, Finland, Germany, Canada, the U.S.A., Brazil, Australia and
New Zealand.

Our hope is to grow the event to a capacity of 2,000 people next year
in the U.K., and open an event of a similar size in Florida -- both
during July, and which we hope will accommodate some big name artists
for your entertainment!

Until next time everyone, keep rockin' in the free world, be blessed
richly and abundantly, take care and stay safe! We hope to see you in
September!

Rock on!!!!

Regards and blessings

-Ladies And Gentlemen, Meet Verismo, Purveyors Of "Brooklyn Thrash"

Forget bed-head haircuts, eye shadow, and skinny jeans. Forget the
whiny Clash-wannabe bands dominating the airwaves, and dig into CITY
OF KINGS, the debut album from a rip-roaring, headbanging, alcohol-
fueled "thrash f*ckin' metal" band from Brooklyn, Verismo (which is
Italian for "realism"). Comprised of Stephan Laboccetta (vocals,
guitar), Vincent Cruz (bass), and Tamas Vajda (drums), Verismo is a
return to the good old days of thrash, when musicians knew their
instruments, vocals were both intense and intelligible, and a live
show was truly an experience. This is not a throwback or "old school"
anything, this is three dirty metalheads from Brooklyn who can shred
on their instruments, drink you under the table, and put on a live
show that will leave you breathless. CITY OF KINGS, the crushing debut
from Verismo, was recorded in one continuous take under the watchful
eye of Dean Baltulonis (Sick Of It All), mastered at Trutone Studios
by Joe Lambert (Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper), and delivered in a package
truly representative of the post industrial wasteland sections of
Brooklyn, the "city of kings" were the members met and wrote what is
sure to become an independent classic.

Already competing with the majors, this record has independently
charted on the FMQB top 50, and has been in regular rotation in many
local and distant stations, including a spot in the top ten of WSOU
for weeks by this point. All three members are no slouches on their
instruments, either, as Laboccetta received his degree music at
Radford University, ex-Ringling Brothers performer/acrobat Vajda
received a diploma from the Drummers Collective, and Cruz was trained
at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. As a result, Verismo is a band
that fans of vintage thrash and hard rock are guaranteed to
appreciate.

-Metal Band Draws New Blood

LOS ANGELES -- Goth-metal band Even X is proud to announce two new
members to its lineup. Guitarist Lew Nottke, previously of Beat The
Bone (which supported Iron Maiden, Queensryche, and Halford in 2000),
can be heard on the upcoming GUITAR MASTERS compilation CD being
released by Bohemian Productions (also featuring Zakk Wylde and Steve
Morse). Also joining Nottke in Even X is his Bone band mate Jay Smith,
a powerhouse drummer that developed his technical prowess alongside
childhood friend and Blink 182 skinsman Travis Barker. Together with
existing bassist Mark Meltzer and founding member and chief songwriter
Ricky Kay, the revamped and refueled Even X is getting ready to hit
the road this summer in support of the band's debut release on Sunland
Records, ANGRY MIRROR. National touring plans will be announced in the
coming weeks.

ANGRY MIRROR, which was mixed by former Machine Head guitarist Logan
Mader, has already drawn rave comparisons to such metal luminaries as
Godsmack, System Of A Down, and Korn. Even X has previous toured the
U.S. with Dope, Bleed The Sky, Anew Revolution and Makeshift Romeo.

Says Mortiis about the exclusive material:

"I grew up on vinyl records, when CD came along and vinyl was dying
away I was gutted. CD still can't stand up to the pure artistic space
that is open to you on an LP.

"The creativity that was explored with the vinyl format (especially in
the '70s) was pure magic and that died when CD came along. I think to
some extent you can be creative with a CD too but it's nowhere close.
I try to get vinyl versions of everything we do, although sometimes
that just doesn't happen. We're doing it now, and it is something I
will be fighting for with every release we do in the future.

"As well, to be as creative as possible in an environment that
reflects that, vinyl records are a great medium to showcase cool
ideas."

SOME KIND OF HEROIN is released on April 16 in Europe.

-Omnibus Press will publish "Defenders Of The Faith: The True Story Of
Judas Priest" in September. Hype from online reports: "Judas Priest's
entire history is explored from their deprived beginnings in 1960s
West Bromwich as an entirely different band. This is the story of
constant lineup changes; sell-out tours, battles with American
Conservative Fundamentalists, the complete breakdown of the band, and
their re-ignition with a new singer in 1996. Finally, their successful
reunion in 2003 with Rob Halford." Judas Priest's management has
indicated the band had nothing to do with, and does not approve of,
the book. See http://www.Amazon.co.uk/ for more on the book, and
http://www.judaspriest.com/ for more on the band.

-Just saw a report that Rush landed the #1 slot on some Rolling Stone
poll of music fans' guilty pleasures. The top 25 were listed and I
laughed when I realized my wife and I have at least one album from
like 21 of the 25 artists. :) I showed the clipping to a co-worker who
is a big Rush nut and he laughed. We figured by "guilty pleasure" they
meant "a band you are afraid to admit to liking." He said, "Yeah,
maybe, but Rush is a guilty pleasure and it still manages to sell out
arenas whenever it tours." Good point.

-Did anyone else notice the guitarist in Fergie's band, while
performing on "American Idol" last night, had an acoustic guitar with
large AC/DC and Dio stickers on it? I'm sure the guy is some kind of
hipster doofus but it was still cool to see that on such a huge TV
show.

-Random thought: Boy oh boy, is that new Manowar album GODS OF WAR
ever tedious... And I *like* Manowar. Way too much narration and
unexciting instrumental music. Eric Adams still has a sweet voice
though. That guy is amazing.

-Finally, I am going to indulge myself here and say Happy 80th
Birthday to my Grandma! (No, she doesn't read Detritus, but I did once
play her Judas Priest's "Epitaph" 'cuz I thought she'd like it.)

-Now in my current playlist: Masterplan - MKII (Candlelight USA),
Manowar - GODS OF WAR (Magic Circle Music), HammerFall - THRESHOLD
(Nuclear Blast Records), Steel Attack - DIABOLIC SYMPHONY (Locomotive
Records).

ALAN MORSE - FOUR O'CLOCK AND HYSTERIA (B+) Inside Out Music, 2007

Just when I was beginning to associate Inside Out with progressive
rock, they start putting out some really good jazz-fusion releases!
Spock's Beard guitarist Alan Morse serves up some tasty instrumentals
on his first solo album FOUR O'CLOCK AND HYSTERIA, displaying a
command of the instrument not as evident in the more structured
environment of his main band. Alan is obviously a big fan of Jeff
Beck, whose influence can be clearly heard on pieces such as opener
"Cold Fusion," the laid back groove of "R Bluz," and optimistic vibe
of "Dschungel Cruz." Alan impresses not only on the more active tunes
like the virtuosic "The Rite Of Left," but also on some of the more
relaxed pieces like "First Funk," "Spanish Steppes," and "Track 3."
FOUR O'CLOCK AND HYSTERIA also sports a great mix with a full sound
and excellent instrument separation. If you are looking for music in
the style of Spock's Beard you won't find it here, but what you will
discover is some really well played fusion by musicians who really
know what they're doing. Do yourself a favor and check out another
side of this excellent talent.
