that begins in 1980, when the East Coast of North America experienced
a massive culture clash of Punk, Disco, Stoner Music, New Wave and
Heavy Metal. Frustrated by this suburban identity crisis and fueled by
The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, a small group of energetic youths
was unknowingly creating the most extreme music ever to assault global

Skates was one of the most recognized pioneers of the movement. This
is a drive through his tunnel vision to success, and the philosophy

Zenith: Runners Up In EA Sports' Burnout Bandslam Competition

Zenith has participated EA's Burnout Bandslam competition. The grand
prize of the contest was to have one song featured in the new computer
car game "Burnout."

Zenith entered with the song "Humanimosity," which is the opener on
the new album EVILUTION. More than 6,000 bands competed and Zenith
ended up receiving runners up prize for being voted best band/song
from Denmark.

15th

Muse-Wrapped Records proudly announces Trent & Wayne Gardner/Robert
Berry CD release collaboration

Vacaville, CA -- Leading prog/rock trio Magellan returns with their
new CD INNOCENT GOD released by Muse-Wrapped Records, LLC on May 15th,
2007. The outfit, featuring core members Gardner brothers along with
Robert Berry (3, GTR, ELP), recorded seven compositions true to the
stellar Magellan style spotlighting a highly sophisticated production
component of epic proportions.

Magellan represents the second wave of sonic explorers, those who
sailed in spirit with the most storied of the prog rock pioneers
(e.g., Genesis, Kansas, Rush, Yes) during their youth and now seek to
make the journey in practice. At the helm of Magellan are brothers
Trent (vocals/keyboards) and Wayne Gardner (guitars), who with bass
player Hal Stringfellow Imbrie released their debut album HOUR OF
RESTORATION in 1991. (Their debut led off with a five-part suite
entitled "Magna Carta.") A historical concept album about England, it
was followed by the similar-sounding IMPENDING ASCENSION. Magellan
returned in 1997 with TEST OF WILLS, which represented a slight
departure from the band's original sound (though the group, which
included drummer Brad Kaiser, remained intact). In 2002, the Gardners
released the ambitious HUNDRED YEAR FLOOD, dedicated to the brother
they lost in the Vietnam War. Though not necessarily a prolific band,
Magellan's well-crafted and ambitious efforts have made them something
of a flagship among prog rock's second armada of artists.

New Jersey And New York

TRENTON -- The makers of "Get Thrashed: The Story Of Thrash Metal" are
proud to announce three June screenings of the documentary: Saturday,
June 2 at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival, Sunday, June 3
at the Hoboken International Film Festival and Friday, June 22 at the
Staten Island Film Festival.

"The L.A. screening was a total blast, complete with artists from the
film in the house and a loud, extremely energetic crowd singing along,
seemingly determined to bring down the house," said Director Rick
Ernst. "The screenings in every city have been unbelievable -- from
bands performing live, fans screaming along to the soundtrack or
special guests showing up -- they have been amazing and I can't wait
for more fans to 'Get Thrashed' from coast to coast in June."

"Get Thrashed: The Story Of Thrash Metal" is the story of bands like
Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax and how they, and others,
pioneered a new form of heavy metal in the early 1980s. This new music
was called "thrash metal" and many of the bands went from playing
friend's parties and small clubs to touring the world and headlining
arenas. Along the way, there were drugs, drinking, fights, deaths,
mosh pits, leather jackets, long hair and most of all --
groundbreaking new music. Eventually, the scene fell apart, but the
seeds these bands planted gave rise to the new breed of extreme heavy
metal we see and hear today. "Get Thrashed" features the music of
Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Kreator, Suicidal
Tendencies, Pantera and many more, plus interviews with members of
over 30 bands from old school (Lars Ulrich, Dave Mustaine, Kerry King,
Gary Holt, etc.) to new school (Lamb Of God, Hatebreed, Shadows Fall,
Chimaira, etc).

"'Get Thrashed' made me feel like I was looking into a scrapbook of my
musical life," said Anthrax bassist Frank Bello. "The film gets it
right and makes you feel the vibe and pulse of this music that we all
know and love."

The Seattle, WA screening of "Get Thrashed" will be on Saturday, June

to make Wacken 2007.

"Matt Tuck has been told by his Doctor that he has to have his tonsils
out on July 10th. Recovery time is one month so unfortunately he won't
have recovered in time. We wish him all the best.

"The word from BFMV is that they'll be back in Germany, as soon as
possible, to make up for their absence.

-Rocket Scientists Conclude Banner Spring Tour

Acclaimed prog rock band receives remarkable reception in Europe &
U.S.A.

EL DORADO HILLS, CA -- Acclaimed American progressive rock legends
Rocket Scientists returned to their home turf after touring Europe and
concluding with a colossal final concert at U.S.A.'s RoSFest. The tour
kicked off on Saturday, April 7th in Rotherham, England sponsored by
the Classic Rock Society and concluded on April 28th at the Rites Of
Spring Festival in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. The Rotherham, England
show commemorated Rocket Scientists' first live concert on European
ground in 10 years. Additional tour dates were held in Belgium, The
Netherlands and Germany where Rocket Scientists were welcomed by very
receptive audiences.

"I really had a fantastic time touring with Rocket Scientists again,"
states Erik Norlander, keyboardist, songwriter and one of the core
members of Rocket Scientists. "Over the last several years I have been
playing in Europe, Japan, the U.S.A. and basically all over the world
with Lana Lane and my solo project, but to take Rocket Scientists out
on the road again after so much time has gone by was really a special
event. Rocket Scientists has played some one-off shows occasionally,
but this was the first real 'Rocket Scientists Tour' in 10 years! The
Rotherham U.K. show was particularly memorable as that was where
Rocket Scientists played our first-ever concert way back in 1997. So
we had a little anniversary celebration there. For the musicians
themselves, I have known Mark McCrite and Don Schiff for over 20 years
now, and it's so easy to play with them. Guitarist Peer Verschuren and
drummer Ernst Van Ee completed the picture as our Dutch 'secret
weapon,' and after touring with these guys for so many years with my
solo project, it was simply a natural evolution to bring them into the
Rocket Scientists universe. And of course Lana made the shows extra
special with her guest appearance on the last songs of the set. I hope
this will be a new beginning of more great RS concert tours for the
future."

The musician lineup for the Rocket Scientists Tour in both Europe and
the U.S.A. included Erik Norlander - keyboards, Mark McCrite - vocals,
guitar and Don Schiff - NS/Stick joined by guest musicians Peer
Verschuren on guitar and Ernst Van Ee on drums. Symphonic rock diva
Lana Lane also made a special guest appearance on the tour performing
several songs at the end of each Rocket Scientists set.

Rocket Scientists was formed in the late 1980s by keyboardist Erik
Norlander and vocalist / guitarist Mark McCrite. The two released
their first CD EARTHBOUND in 1993 joined by then-session bassist Don
Schiff. Schiff quickly became a part of the band for their second
release in 1995 BRUTAL ARCHITECTURE, and the three toured in the U.S.
and Europe in 1997 along with drummer Tommy Amato culminating in the
live CD EARTH BELOW AND SKY ABOVE: LIVE IN EUROPE AND AMERICA. In
1999, Rocket Scientists released OBLIVION DAYS, raising the bar on
already high expectations. At the turn of the century, Norlander,
Schiff and McCrite all worked on solo projects in addition to backing
symphonic rock vocal icon Lana Lane on several tours around the world.
The latest release is the band's fourth studio album REVOLUTION ROAD,
a double CD released in the fall of 2006, their strongest and most
successful title to date.

Lana Lane is an accomplished rock vocalist with a long history of
albums and tours. Lana began touring in Japan in 1998 to support
GARDEN OF THE MOON and the subsequent BALLAD COLLECTION and QUEEN OF
THE OCEAN releases. She then expanded her touring efforts to Europe in
2001 to support SECRETS OF ASTROLOGY with additional tours in 2003 and
2004. Lana has been dubbed as "The Queen Of Symphonic Rock" by her
fans and the press, and yet she remains a very versatile artist able
to move from intimate jazz pieces to bone crushing progressive metal.
But in the end it is Lana's love of melody and artistry that reigns
over all. Lana is a dedicated artist who approaches her craft with
grace and integrity. She celebrated the 10 year anniversary of her
first album in 2005 with the stunning concept album, LADY MACBETH, and
has recently released a live DVD of her 10th Anniversary Concert Tour.
Lana's newest release is GEMINI, an album of classic rock covers
recorded with an all-star band.

The production of Hubi Meisel's third concept album, which will be
entitled TRINITY, has been in progress for quite a while already.
TRINITY forms the completion of a conceptual trilogy, which started
with EMOCEAN in 2004 and was then continued with KAILASH in 2006.

Hubi Meisel is glad to announce that his former band mate in
Dreamscape, Wolfgang Kerinnis, has joined him on this third journey
and will play the guitars on five songs. For the instrumental music,
Hubi once again closely cooperated with French keyboardist/composer
Vivien Lalu, and also the rest of the TRINITY crew consists of well-
known colleagues. The full lineup is:

Comments the band: "The 'fox treatment' re-mix of 'Deeproted' is more
complex and fragmented than the original, but maybe even heavier and
more beatdriven at the same time. The 'lost time' re-mix of 'The Cure-
All' is done by RachMiel who may be known to those who reads his
monthly columns in Computer Music or Electronic Musician. There he
writes about alternative ways of structuring music and stuff like
experimenting with time and silence. Very cool stuff indeed. His re-
mix is basically based around trying to remove the aspect of time from
the music, and letting it move more free in form. Something we find
very facinating and has ended in a really great re-mix."

-I just got a load o' cool stuff from SPV/Steamhammer, including the
new Iced Earth EP, the new albums from Magnum and Kamelot, and last
year's debut from Beyond Fear. The Kamelot -- GHOST OPERA -- is
striking me as very cool. I kept up with Kamelot's releases for a
while but sort of gave up after 2001's KARMA. Dunno why, but I just
did. So, I have no idea if GHOST OPERA is 1) continuing a progression
of what the band's been doing in recent years, or 2) just a rehash of
their last album or whatever. But I will say this: it's good. After
three spins I think it would be warmly embraced by Queensryche fans
who have been lost at sea since PROMISED LAND came out... I detect
sort of a RAGE FOR ORDER-updated-for-the-2000's vibe. Quick, can
someone please invent a time machine, zip back to 1994, and give Geoff
Tate a copy of GHOST OPERA? That would rule.

-Regarding the other SPV discs I just got, after a measly one listen
apiece I can firmly say the Iced Earth and Magnum album sound just
like...Iced Earth and Magnum. No real surprises there, yet, but time
will tell. And as for Beyond Fear, I really wasn't sure what to expect
from the Tim "Ripper" Owens' project but it's pretty solid meat 'n'
potatoes metal. More on these later...

Excellent neo-prog outfit Pendragon celebrates the 21st anniversary of
its debut album THE JEWEL with a live performance in Katowice, Poland,
captured here on this well-packaged and cleverly titled DVD. Opening
up with the relatively lightweight "Higher Circles," Pendragon lures
us in with a somewhat deceptive track that would indicate a penchant
for Asia/Big Country type mid-'80s AOR, but quickly moves into
territory more comparable to heavy Marillion, Genesis and Eloy.
Longtime vocalist/guitarist Nick Barrett has one of those distinctive
accents that fails to disappear when he sings -- and it takes a bit of
getting used to -- but once accustomed, his vocals are every bit as
stirring and expressive as anyone you care to name in the prog rock
universe. Joined along the way by former members Rik Carter, John
Barnfield and Julian Baker, Pendragon storms and enchants its way
through 15 classic tracks, many of course culled from THE JEWEL. The
concert hall employed for this event was obviously chosen for its fine
acoustics, as the sound on the recording is absolutely pristine,
bringing to life such gorgeously melodic gems as "The Pleasure Of
Hope," "Fly High Fall Far," and "Please," while retaining the edge of
"Armageddon" and the exuberance of closing number "Stan And Ollie."
Suffice it to say, the musicianship is amazing throughout the
performance, with soaring guitars, lush keyboards, and a tight,
engaging rhythm section the order of the day. Also including a cool
interview with Nick Barrett and John Barnfield along with a "Behind
The Scenes" segment, bonus video clip featuring original drummer Nigel
Harris, a band history, discography and more, PAST AND PRESENCE is a
must-have for Pendragon fans, and highly recommended for those fans of
progressive rock who may have missed the band the first time around.

Can't believe I let this band through the cracks all these years. I
have been a Death Metal fan since the late '80s early '90s, I even
have some of Marten van Drunen's other bands like Asphyx and Comecon,
yet I never really gave Pestilence a proper listen and it is a shame.
They deserve to be put up there with the greats, such as Entombed,
Morbid Angel, Death... Pestilence keep things above the pack by mixing
in a jazz/fusion sound to the Florida death metal scene that
Roadrunner was known for. They kind of have the groove and vocal
stylings of Obituary, with a much more technical guitar sound. During
their four album existence, Martin van Drunen sang on MALLEUS
MALEFICARUM and CONSUMING IMPULSE, and Patrick Mameli sang on
TESTIMONY OF THE ANCIENTS and SPHERES. Although both vocalists have a
similar sound that kept the music sounding like the same band,
Patrick's vocals are a bit more tortured and similar to the Obitiuary
sound while van Drunen's style is a bit more clean (in a Lemmy sort of
way). But without being told, I would have thought it was the same
vocalist. It is not the vocals that make Pestilence stand out though
it is the amazing musicianship. In songs like "Twisted Truth" you get
your groove laden metal dose, but entwined inside is some fantastic
guitar work you would expect out of their more standard metal brothers
in bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica and so on. "Parricide" gives you
a thrash intro that rivals the Bay Area bests, mixing in a tight solo
right before the blast beats hit you and plow you over. If you were
one of those like me who missed out on Pestilence in the past, or you
were just slow on accepting the Death Metal scene in general, this
"best of" is a good way to get a dose of these giants without picking
up the whole collection which I am sure is hard to find these days.

Talented bassist/multi-instrumentalist Mick Cervino stepped out from
his side man duties (Yngwie Malmsteen, Ritchie Blackmore) and formed
this cool new metal band as a showcase. He hooked up with guitarists
Roy Z and Judas Priest's K.K. Downing, who lent their hands both in a
technical and playing capacity (Z mixed, Downing executive produced,
and they each guest on two tracks), found a singer and drummer, lured
Yngwie in to play on a couple songs, and worked out a Blackmore's
Night cover for good measure. The results: a strong collection of hard
rock and metal songs that will definitely appeal to fans of any of the
artists mentioned above, but that, truthfully, also could use a little
spiffing up in places. "War No More" (with Downing) is a real storming
(sorry...) opener, and "Fire In The Unknown" (with Malmsteen and Z)
completes the excellent metallic one-two punch. The more mid-tempo and
ominous "Deceiver" (Downing) and "Pain" (Malmsteen) follow, with
"Pain" having a particularly cool, chunky riff. The odd "Alimentary
Fable" then stands out with kind of more groovy/slinky feel than its
predecessors. "Screaming In Your Face" (Z) resumes with sharp staccato
riffing, and "You Don't Care" and "Owning You" are both great, driving
rockers; the former stomps hard and has evil, sneering vocals from
Matt Reardon (he reminds me of Radakka's Jon Dobbs in places) while
the latter has a pair of killer riffs and some fine bass work. The
album ends with a pair of songs that exude what I call, for lack of a
better term, a "storytelling vibe," in that everything just clicks and
flows effortlessly, and the melodies and lyrics really take the
listener for a ride. "Empty Hope" (which, according to the liner
notes, and in a move I think is quite cool, features variations of
Cervino's solo bass album OSTINATO) is a grooving hard rocker with
neoclassical elements, and "Storm" closely follows -- but
significantly metals up -- the Candice Night-sung Blackmore's Night
original. Awesome. All the pieces are in place for this band, for
sure, but the disc plays short to me -- a few of the songs seem
unfinished -- and a real drummer, Mike Sorrentino (Ritchie Blackmore,
Zebra), only performs on three of the 10 tracks; more would've been
better. But now that a solidified band lineup has emerged, with the
addition of Statetrooper guitarist Martin Mickels, I fully expect
album #2 to be even better than STORM WARNING. Two additional notes:
Denny Blake (Helix) has recently joined the band as touring vocalist,
and the North American version of STORM WARNING will reportedly
contain bonus video content, but I am not aware of the details.

About the charity I am raising funds for -

The Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS) provide vital work in not only
research into the disease but fund Parkinson's Disease Nurse
Specialists (there are currently 200 in the UK) and help run over 300
support groups and local branches throughout the UK. Many people know
someone who has Parkinson's and although there is no cure as yet with
the help of medicine and local support groups the lifestyle of people
with Parkinson's has been greatly improved although more funds are
still needed to keep up the results achieved so far.
