-Great White: BACK TO THE RHYTHM Scheduled To Release July 17th On
Shrapnel Records; Tour Schedule Updates For 2007

HOLLYWOOD -- BACK TO THE RHYTHM is scheduled to release July 17th,
2007 which also marks Great White's 25th Anniversary. Original members
Jack Russell (vocals), Mark Kendall (lead guitar), Audie Desbrow
(drums), Michael Lardie (guitar/keyboards) and Sean McNabb (bass) have
created their first albums in eight years. "It's just like old times,"
states lead singer Jack Russell. "There's a bond that forms between
people that is very special. I've missed my friends."

BACK TO THE RHYTHM was mixed, produced, and engineered by band member
Michael Lardie while collectively all are adding their sounds to the
mix. "The new songs sound fresh to me, very Great White, but with an
approach of what we sound like in a live performance situation,"
explains Michael Lardie. "Kendall and I are having fun channeling our
Stones roots and playing off each other in the Richards/Woods
tradition."

With it being their anniversary year and a new album in tow, Great
White is once again ready to rock all summer long. The band will hit
the road for summer shows Nation wide to support their new album BACK
TO THE RHYTHM as well as slam out all their greatest hits the fans
know and love.

LOS ANGELES -- Following the group's successful spring tour, Heaven
And Hell will again wow North American audiences with its bewitching
stage set and truly timeless, classic metal as Ronnie James Dio, Tony
Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice return for a second round of
North American dates as part of the quartet's continuing world tour.
Set to launch on September 5, Heaven And Hell's tour will stop in many
cities not included on the previous leg and will feature special guest
star Alice Cooper on all but one date. Queensryche will serve as the
opening act for all shows. Tickets for most of the eight newly added
dates will go on sale the weekend of July 13. There will also be a
special fan presale beginning Wednesday, July 11 at 12 Noon EDT at

Last year, the iconic quartet reconvened to record a trio of songs for
Black Sabbath - THE DIO YEARS, a compilation that features essential
songs by the short-lived, but beloved incarnation of Black Sabbath
fronted by Dio. Dubbing the group Heaven And Hell after one of its
signature hits, the band launched a much-anticipated world tour
earlier this year. The group celebrated its first U.S. concert in 15
years with a sold-out performance at Radio City Music Hall. Recorded
and filmed in its entirety, Rhino captured the historic concert for a
CD and DVD release, Heaven And Hell - LIVE FROM RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL,
set for an August 28 release.

Special guest star Alice Cooper will join Heaven And Hell on the road.
In addition to his duties as a rock 'n' roll icon, Cooper is the host
of the syndicated "Nights With Alice Cooper" radio show. Cooper's
golf-themed memoir, "Alice Cooper, Golf Monster," was released earlier
this year.

Queensryche rounds out the hard-hitting triple bill. The band is
riding high on the success of last year's OPERATION: MINDCRIME II
album and tour, which brought the group's complete Mindcrime saga to
the stage in its entirety. On July 3, Rhino released CD and DVD
versions of MINDCRIME AT THE MOORE, which feature Queensryche's
performance in front of its hometown crowd at Moore Theatre in
Seattle.

-Magician Posts Samples Of Debut CD Produced By Members Of Gamma Ray

After the successful demo BRIEF MAGIC STORY, which received great
reviews by South American rock and metal magazines, the power
metallers of Magician came back to studio to release the long-awaited
debut. The new album was mixed and mastered at High Gain Studios in
Hamburg/Germany by a "heavy metal dream team" formed by:

- Dirk Schlächter - Gamma Ray's guitarist.

- Arne Lakenmacher - Besides working on Gamma Ray's SKELETONS IN THE
CLOSET, he also produced albums of great metal bands like Nevermore,
Freedom Call, Primal Fear, Kreator, Sodom, Iron Savior and
Destruction.

- Kai Hansen - Gamma Ray's vocalist and ex-member of Helloween and
Iron Saviour; he worked in the beginning of the production of the
album.

LILLIAN AXE SIGN DEAL WITH Z TO RE-RELEASE SOUGHT AFTER ALBUM

Some eight years on Z are proud to have signed a deal with Lillian Axe
to re-release FIELDS OF YESTERDAY. The album was re-mastered two weeks
ago with Mark Alger at the helm and has been greatly sonically
improved to the original. In addition to the re-mastering work two
bonus tracks have been added for good measure. The album release will
take place on October 8th.

Mark Alger made the following comment: "FIELDS OF YESTERDAY is one of
my personal favourites to have been released by the label. I was
gutted to not be able to go to Japan with the band during 1999 due to
having to stay in the U.K. for Z Rock 99. Good Old Dave Tedder was
lucky enough to make the trip and had everything video taped for me
which to this day is a prize keep for me as it include's Lillian Axe's
full Tokyo show. It's a pleasure to work with Steve and the guys again
and I hope their new studio release does well!"

Steve Blaze commented: "We are looking forward to the re-release of
FIELDS OF YESTERDAY marking the 10th anniversary of Z. This collection
of rarities and B-sides is a nice compliment to our new studio album
WATERS RISING on Metro City Records released in July. We plan on
touring Europe in the beginning of 2008, so we will see our European
fans again after 13 years!"

The Brazilian power/thrash metal band Darkager is actually recording
their debut album with Thiago Bianchi, the vocalist of Shaman, a known
producer who already worked with bands like Angra, Tuatha De Danann,
and Shaman itself. The recording process is being posted in the band's

Since the album isn't ready and the copies of their demo are sold out,
the band decided to make it available for download. This demo, BELLS
OF DOOM, was recorded with a old lineup and it doesn't show the
present musical direction of Darkager, which will be heard in their

-S.O.D. To Release RISE OF THE INFIDELS

WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- Megaforce Records and metal/hardcore pioneers
S.O.D. will release RISE OF THE INFIDELS on August 21, 2007. It is an
extended EP (perhaps the longest in the music biz) with four
unreleased S.O.D. songs, plus a live concert from Seattle is included.

One of the crucial bands in the musical chain linking hardcore punk
with metal, the Stormtroopers Of Death -- known as S.O.D. -- were
actually intended to be a one-off side project, done as a lark.

S.O.D. began in the mid-1980s during a break in the recording of
Anthrax's SPREADING THE DISEASE. What started out as a quick,
satirical release for Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Dan Lilker, and the
infamous Billy Milano, S.O.D. has turned into a seminal band
influencing countless hardcore, metalcore, and post-hardcore bands.
Their first album, SPEAK ENGLISH OR DIE, has sold over 400,000 and
remains an underground classic. S.O.D. was always about brutal satire,
but done with complete honesty. Anyone who has witnessed their severe,
yet astonishing live show, knows that S.O.D. is like no other band on
the planet.

TRENTON -- The makers of "Get Thrashed: The Story Of Thrash Metal" are
proud to announce the San Francisco premiere of the documentary will
be Saturday, July 14 at 10:00 p.m. at the Frozen Film Festival.

Among the sure to be sold out crowd at the San Francisco screening
will be a "who's who" of Bay Area thrash legends including members of
Exodus, Death Angel, Forbidden, plus unsigned thrash bands Concrete
Coffin and Osmium, whose music is featured in the soundtrack of the
film.

"I am totally stoked about the San Francisco premiere of 'Get
Thrashed,'" said Exodus guitarist Gary Holt. "After all, San Francisco
was the birthplace of this monster called thrash metal, and it is only
fitting that it receives a proper showing right where it all started.
After seeing the movie, all I could say was it's about time; and it
couldn't have been done any better. I hope to be at the screening.
It's not something I want to miss."

"The best part of making 'Get Thrashed' was my week long trip to the

Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax and how they, and others,
pioneered a new form of heavy metal in the early 1980s. This new music
was called "thrash metal" and many of the bands went from playing
friend's parties and small clubs to touring the world and headlining
arenas. Along the way, there were drugs, drinking, fights, deaths,
mosh pits, leather jackets, long hair and most of all --
groundbreaking new music. Eventually, the scene fell apart, but the
seeds these bands planted gave rise to the new breed of extreme heavy
metal we see and hear today. "Get Thrashed" features the music of
Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Kreator, Suicidal
Tendencies, Pantera and many more, plus interviews with members of
over 30 bands from old school (Lars Ulrich, Dave Mustaine, Kerry King,
Gary Holt, etc.) to new school (Lamb Of God, Hatebreed, Shadows Fall,
Chimaira, etc).

-An unofficial biography of Queen guitiarist Brian May, Laura Jackson,
is due October 25. Hype: "The book reveals Queen's struggles to get to

Brian's difficult years throughout the disintegration of his first

-Trevor Fisher's "Caught In A Mosh" column in this month's Illinois
Entertainer has an absolutely killer head-to-head comparison between
Metallica and Megadeth's first eight studio albums (live stuff, covers
discs, etc. were excluded). I'd actually never done this myself
before. He came up with Megadeth winning 4-3, choosing KILL 'EM ALL
over KILLING IS MY BUSINESS...AND BUSINESS IS GOOD, PEACE SELLS...BUT
WHO'S BUYING? over RIDE THE LIGHTNING, MASTER OF PUPPETS over SO FAR,
SO GOOD...SO WHAT!, RUST IN PEACE over ...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL,
METALLICA over COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION, YOUTHANASIA over LOAD, CRYPTIC
WRITINGS over RELOAD, and called a draw between RISK and ST. ANGER,
saying "to call one of these a 'winner' insinuates at least one good
quality." :) (He does call them both "huge runny piles of doo,"
though.) He also points out Megadeth has released additional albums,
but he forgot 2001's THE WORLD NEEDS A HERO -- we'll let that slide.

BEATALLICA - SGT. HETFIELD'S MOTORBREATH PUB BAND (A) Oglio Records,

I first heard of Beatallica three or four years ago when one of their
demo tapes got a rave review in Metal Maniacs magazine. The humorous
band's shtick -- "mashing up" bits and pieces of Metallica and Beatles
songs and titles to create mutations like "A Garage Dayz Nite" or
"Blackened The U.S.S.R." -- sounded hilarious, and I became an instant
fan as soon as I checked out the many tunes the band had available for
free download on their Web site. Beatallica has had an interesting
couple of years since then, becoming a bona fide 'net phenomenon
(supposedly their Web site has had over a million hits) and narrowly
avoiding serious legal trouble with Sony/ATV, who control the rights
to the Beatles catalog (and who apparently didn't find the band's
parodies as funny as everyone else did). Supposedly Lars Ulrich
himself stepped in on Beatallica's behalf to put an end to the legal
wrangling, which paved the way for the band to sign a legitimate
recording contract and finally release their first official studio
album, SGT. HETFIELD'S MOTORBREATH PUB BAND. If you've never
experienced the madness of Beatallica before, you are in for a treat
when you pop this one into your CD player!! Vocalist Jaymz Lennfield's
Hetfield impression is hilariously dead-on (in fact, when Beatallica's
songs first started making the rounds a few years ago, his imitation
was so convincing that some thought the tunes were actual tapes of the
Metallica guys goofing around!), and his cohorts -- Grg Hammettson
(guitar), Kliff McBurtney (bass) and Ringo Larz (drums) -- are a
tight, well oiled, and yes, damn HEAVY machine. Most times when you
hear about a "joke band" or a "parody act" you expect them to be a
half-assed musical package, but Beatallica are the real deal. These
guys can play like muthafuggas and their "parodies" show a deep
knowledge and respect for the material of both bands, which only
increases my admiration for this project. Unfortunately, most of the
songs on SGT. HETFIELD'S are simply re-recorded versions of
Beatallica's "classic" songs that were available for download for
years on their Web site, which is something of a disappointment, but
first time listeners can't go wrong with hellacious numbers like "A
Garage Dayz Nite," "Hey Dude," and "Leper Madonna." Most of the "old"
songs have aged well and have only been tweaked slightly from their
original demo versions (they're less foul mouthed, but thankfully the
many references to beer remain), although I am disappointed that they
chose not to re-record my personal favorite tracks, "I Want To Choke
Your Band" and "The Thing That Should Not Let It Be"... perhaps
they're saving them for album #2? Of the four "new" tracks, I'd have
to say that "Helvester Of Skelter" (a combo of "Harvester Of Sorrow"
and "Helter Skelter") takes the prize as not only the best song on
this disc, but the best song Beatallica has ever come up with, though
"Anesthesia (I'm Only Sleeping)" showcases the Beatalli-chops most
admirably and "Ktulu (He's So Heavy)" is no slouch either. These guys
manage to be hilarious and heavy at the same time, which is not an
easy feat, and to that I raise a frosty brew and proclaim myself a
diehard Beatallibanger. Whether or not you'll enjoy this CD as much as
I did depends on how twisted your sense of humor is, I suppose, but as
of right now SGT. HETFIELD'S is right behind Megadeth's UNITED
ABOMINATIONS in my "Best Of 2007 Thus Far" list, and I'm still
laughing with every spin and wondering when, or if, the "real"
Metallica will ever deliver something as good as this one. Thumbs up,
WAY up!

Back in the late '80s and early '90s, Onslaught were one of those
bands I always seemed to hear a lot ABOUT, but never actually HEARD.
Back in those days I read a lot of British metal magazines like Metal
Hammer and Metal Forces (man, I miss Metal Forces!) and all of them
seemed to constantly rave about Onslaught, proclaiming them to be the
U.K.'s great white thrash hope, Britain's answer to Slayer, and many
other impossible-to-live-up-to accolades. It took me years but I
finally did check out some Onslaught in the form of their lone major
label release, 1989's atypical IN SEARCH OF SANITY, during which the
band was briefly fronted by former Grim Reaper vocalist Steve Grimmett
and which found Onslaught seeking more commercially oriented pastures.
That disc was the last anyone heard from Onslaught for over fifteen
years, but now they've reconvened with vocalist Sy Keeler (Grimmett's
predecessor, who sang on 1986's THE FORCE disc -- which is deemed a
classic in some circles, though it remains unheard by me) and
unleashed KILLING PEACE, a disc chock full of classic Bay Area Thrash
vibes and unrelenting aggression. You know this band isn't here to
screw around from the first track, the blistering "Burn," in which
Keeler growls "ashes to ashes, dust to f**king dust!" in a voice that
is best described as a mix of Chuck Billy of Testament (at his LOW-
est) and Metal Church's David Wayne, over a wall of razor-wire guitar
riffs courtesy of Nige Rockett and Al Jordan. Musically I'd say those
old "Britain's answer to Slayer" comparisons still hold (unholy)
water. If the album art of a crucifix, a demon and a mushroom cloud
don't make it obvious enough that these guys kinda like Slayer a
little bit, the guitar riffs and squeals in tracks like "Destroyer Of
Worlds" and "Twisted Jesus" are so Hanneman/King that they could've
been lifted straight off of SOUTH OF HEAVEN or REIGN IN BLOOD.
Onslaught might be unoriginal as hell, but these songs are solid as
granite and are played with such old school conviction and ferocity
that you can't help but raise your devil horns in salute! Obviously
lyrics like "spitting blood in the face of God!" (from the title
track) aren't for the easily offended, but if you old-school thrashers
have already burned out your copy of Slayer's CHRIST ILLUSION and
you're jonesing for something to give you a fix till their next studio
offering, KILLING PEACE should fill the void, and disturb your
neighbors, quite nicely.

Underground favorite RETURN TO METALOPOLIS is arguably one of the best
instrumental guitar albums ever, a release that really confirmed Chris
as a unique musician and player of considerable skill. RETURN TO
METALOPOLIS LIVE offers us a rare glimpse of selected tracks off the
album taken from a 1991 performance in Phoenix, Arizona. Chris, along
with his brother Mark on drums and David Randi on bass (the three soon
to be joined by Dave Clemmons in Damn The Machine), tear through such
classics as the title track and "Theater Of The Damned," also offering
up a cover of Megadeth's "Wake Up Dead" and including "Khazad Dum"
from the RETURN TO METALOPOLIS 2002 reissue. The playing is often fast
and furious, Chris displaying a knack for clever note selection,
coaxing flurries of fusion-influenced lines from his axe. Also
striking is the powerful and intricate drumming of Mark Poland and
David Randi's judicious bass presence. To flesh things out the CD
includes several recently recorded tracks by Chris' current band Ohm:
the relaxed "Pandora," cool fusion workout "Tin Man," and a darkly
shot but awesome bonus video of the band performing a new version of
"Alexandria," a track on which you can really hear the progression in
Chris' playing. Essential for Chris Poland fans, RETURN TO METALOPOLIS
LIVE is also a recommended listen for those who would like to bridge
the gap between thrash and fusion...
