-Dream Theater CHAOS IN MOTION 2007/2008 Live DVD Sets To Be Released
In September Documenting 2007-2008 World Tour
115 Shows, 105 Cities, 35 Countries And Hundreds Of Thousands Of Fans
NEW YORK CITY -- Few bands inspire such fanaticism among their fans as
Dream Theater. The best way to satiate this dedicated legion is to
provide them with even more material to devour and Dream Theater are
doing just that this September. The band will release CHAOS IN MOTION
2007/2008, which documents their CHAOS IN MOTION world tour, which
kicked off June 3, 2007 at the Monsters of Rock Festival in Milan,
Italy and concluded almost a year to the day later on June 4, 2008 in
San Juan, Puerto Rico. It's essentially a travelogue of their most
recent touring experience and it hits shelves on September 23. CHAOS
IN MOTION 2007/2008 will be available in two configurations: as a
double DVD set and as five disc collector's set which includes two
DVDs and three CDs, containing 14 live tracks featured in the DVD set
and expanded artwork.
The CHAOS IN MOTION Tour was a trek that found the band traversing the
globe, playing 115 shows in 105 cities in 35 countries on five
continents to hundreds of thousands of fans. It also included the
first annual Progressive Nation Tour, an idea that the band had kicked
around for a few years and finally launched into action this past
spring.
CHAOS IN MOTION 2007/2008 is the latest in a series of DVDs from the
band and it features performances captured throughout the entirety of
the tour, unlike their last three RIAA-certified Platinum DVDs,
METROPOLIS 2000: LIVE SCENES FROM NEW YORK, LIVE AT BUDOKAN and SCORE,
all of which focused on a single concert event.
Drummer and DVD creative director Mike Portnoy plumed his personal
archives for footage in order to provide fans with the ultimate tour
souvenir. He assembled over three hours of complete live performances,
taking footage from shows in Rotterdam, Buenos Aires, Toronto, Boston,
Bangkok and Vancouver. The tracks were mixed and effectively brought
to life by Kevin Shirley. The second disc is packed with bonus
material, including promo videos, live screen projection films, a
photo gallery and a 90-minute documentary that'll make you feel like
you're riding in the passenger's seat of the band's tour bus, as it
takes you on the road and behind the scenes with the band and crew.
It's like a virtual backst age pass that grants fans further
unprecedented access.
The official content and track listing for the DVD are as follows and
are subject to change:

-Marty Friedman Releases New Live Album In The U.S.A.
EXHIBIT "A" - LIVE IN EUROPE Releases August 19th On Mascot Records
U.S.A.
HOLLYWOOD -- EXHIBIT "A" - LIVE IN EUROPE is an album that will change
all preconceptions about live performance albums. It is an emotionally
fueled work of genius, mixed with brilliant guitar solo mastery that
has become Marty Friedman's signature.
EXHIBIT "A" – LIVE IN EUROPE features Marty Friedman (lead guitar),
Ron Jarzombeck (guitar), Chris Catero (bass), and Jeremy Colson
(drums).
EXHIBIT "A" – LIVE IN EUROPE is an aggressive, passionate and
absorbing live performance that exposes the beauty and the beast in
Friedman's personality. The album was recorded in 2007 featuring audio
tracks from his latest tour in support of the album LOUDSPEAKER
performed in Germany, Holland, England, Israel, Czech Republic, and
Italy between March 31 and April 10, 2007.
Track List:
1. Theme From Namida (Tears)
2. Elixir
3. Anvils (Celluloid Revenge Ending)
4. Gimme A Dose
5. Street Demon
6. It's The Unreal Thing
7. Fuel Injection Stingray
8. Stigmata Addiction
9. Tibet
10. Angel
11. Paradise Express
12. Ripped
13. Cheer Girl Rampage
14. Thunder March
15. Ballad Of The Barbie Bandits
16. Hound Dog
Marty Friedman began his career as a Shrapnel solo recording artist
and later joined forces with Jason Becker to form the unrivaled dual
guitar unit, Cacophony, who have a strong influence on today's top
guitarists. Amassing worldwide acclaim as a guitar superstar, he came
to the attention of Megadeth and the rest is history. Racking up sales
of over 10 million records with Megadeth, Friedman continued to record
solo records, often embarking on adventurous musical forays far
removed from his work with Megadeth, including an album with Golden
Globe winner Kitaro.
In a bold move, he left the legendary Megadeth to pursue new musical
goals and has succeeded tremendously. Friedman's many accomplishments
make him currently the only musician to be a fixture in the top class
of the Japanese domestic as well as international music scene. His
music performance on national TV with the Tokyo Philharmonic
Orchestra, to charting high with his own music and with Japan's top
artists, has spurred Friedman into new celebrity territory.
Now residing in Tokyo, Friedman has become a television celebrity
appearing as a regular on five major networks, he can be seen on
mainstream hit TV programs almost every day in Japan. "It's all these
insane experiences the last couple years in Japan that couldn't be
musically farther from my roots that make it so rewarding to make an
all-out aggressive album now," recalls Friedman.
EXHIBIT "A" – LIVE IN EUROPE is exactly the kind of record that
Friedman fans have been waiting for. It is heavy, melodic as he digs
down deep to his roots, and spotlights the true talent in Friedman's
riveting live performance.
EXHIBIT "A" – LIVE IN EUROPE will be released on August 19th, 2008 in
the U.S. For more information click to http://www.martyfriedman.com/

-Magic Circle Festival Update
The Second Edition Of The Magic Circle Festival in Bad Arolsen,
Germany Was A Success
Over 35,000 rabid fans braved the cold winds and rain to witness the
"Spectacle of Might" known as Manowar and their special guests between
July 9th-12th. Manowar headlined the Friday and Saturday nights of the
festival, performing their first six albums back to back. The
highlight of their performance was the 20th Anniversary of the KINGS
OF METAL album, which boasted a 20 person men's choir onstage. In
addition, they performed their new single, "Die With Honor," 20,000
copies of which were given away to those in attendance (in addition to
20,000 free beers and the giving away of four custom built choppers
owned by the band).
Very special guest Alice Cooper headlined the Thursday night
presenting his classic live stage show. Heavy metal legend Doro Pesch,
and her band performed all their greatest hits and wooed the crowd.
One of the big surprises was HolyHell. Being no strangers to Germany
in the past few years. HolyHell had one of the best responses from the
Saturday crowd. The played two new songs from their yet to be released
debut album, proving they are force to deal with in the metal scene.
Other highlights were performances by W.A.S.P., Ted Nugent, MSG,
Benedictum, Titanium Black, Jack Starr's Burning Star, Death Angel,
Beloved Enemy, Mob Rules, Sixth Sense, Gotthard, Brazen Abbot
(featuring Joe Lynn Turner), Stormwarrior, Krypterium, Kobus and Metal
Force featuring ex-Majesty singer Tarek.
Thousands of fans thrilled to the chance to have an autograph with all
members of Manowar, and due to overwhelming demand, the band signed
non-stop for 12 hours over a two-day period. They were not able to
complete all the autograph requests, and next year they will be adding
an extra day of autographs to make every fan happy.
Based upon the great visuals already on YouTube...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdEjXNIiGB8&fmt=18
...this is by far the most number of flags that have ever been seen in
a heavy metal performance. People came in from all over the world
(over 30 different countries) to see this once in a lifetime event.
Joey DeMaio revealed long awaited details about a secret project. He
announced that next year; they would perform their new (as yet
untitled and unreleased) album onstage. And it is not just a normal
album... it will be written in collaboration with the biggest selling
German author Wolfgang Holbein (over 35 million books sold), and will
include a tie-in novel and feature film and video game.
This year's success has insured an even bigger Magic Circle Festival
in 2009.
Be there for the third edition of the Magic Circle Festival 2009.

Mexico, Cleveland, San Francisco, and New York; and the recent release
of Rocket Scientists' ambitious five-disc multimedia box set LOOKING
BACKWARD through Think Tank Media and ProgRock Records.
Rocket Scientists was formed in the late 1980s by keyboardist Erik
Norlander and vocalist / guitarist Mark McCrite. The two released
their first CD, EARTHBOUND, in 1993 joined by then-session bassist Don
Schiff. Schiff quickly became a part of the band for their second

ABOVE: LIVE IN EUROPE AND AMERICA. In 1999, Rocket Scientists released
OBLIVION DAYS, raising the bar on already high expectations. At the
turn of the century, Norlander, Schiff and McCrite all worked on solo
projects in addition to backing symphonic rock vocal icon Lana Lane on
several tours around the world. After an eight year hiatus, Rocket
Scientists released its fourth studio album REVOLUTION ROAD in 2006 to
high accolades from the press and fans worldwide.

of LEFT TO DIE, the new EP from Obituary. The EP follows the worldwide
success of 2007's XECUTIONER'S RETURN and as previously announced

lead singer. Breed will accompany the band on the upcoming tour dates
for it latest album, IMMORTAL, which was released in the U.S. on June
24 via Locomotive Records. (The album features Iced Earth's Matt
Barlow on vocals.) Here are the statements from
http://www.myspace.com/pyramaze :
"Dear friends
"After auditioning some really good singers during the last couple of
months, we have finally found a new band-brother -- none other than
singer extraordinaire Urban breed (ex-Tad Morose) has joined our
ranks, and we are all very excited.
"Urban is well known for his powerful voice, stage presence and great
diversity.
"We welcome Urban into the band, and we hope that our fantastic fans
will approve of this choice too.
"Trust us when we say there's no one better to fill out the big shoes
left by his predecessors.
"To those of you who do not know Urban yet, I would like to encourage
you to check out the MP3's in the news section of pyramaze.com -- this
is just a little taste of what Urban sounds like.
"Please note -- the songs are NOT new Pyramaze songs, but material
from Urban's past recordings.
"Thanks for your attention, and now on to a statement from Urban
himself.
"Michael Kammeyer."
"Hello everyone
"I am very pleased to join ranks with the great guys and talented
musicians of Pyramaze.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge of filling those big shoes and
working with these guys live and in the studio.
"I think we have a lot to offer each other, and I hope Pyramaze fans
are as excited as we are to hear us working together.

by Tim Wadzinski (tsw512@...)
-Got some brief Rocklahoma reports from some of my buddies...
...There was a lot of rain and heat, and the fields ended up being
trashed with mud. Also, on Saturday (I think) the side stages -- which
had been set up in a very cool-looking manner -- were blown down by
high winds. Several fans' tents were uprooted as well. After a
scramble, some of the side stage bands were allowed to play in various
tents on the grounds.
...Crooked X was great and I was essentially *ordered* to seek out
more information on the young fellas. Quote from my friend Todd:
"These guys should be stars."
...Tora Tora and Lynch Mob were both killer.
...Extreme went down so-so; they played well but the set list had some
dubious choices. "Get The Funk Out" was not played. Nuno Bettencourt
did a very nice acoustic solo though.
...Living Colour wasn't very good, and apparently played a lousy
version of "Cult Of Personality." Rumor had it they were kinda begging
people to show up at their meet & greet, too. Odd.
...Warrant made it through its whole set. :)
...Cinderella did not play due to problems with main man Tom Keifer's
voice/throat.
...Armored Saint was awesome and vocalist John Bush was spot-on.
...Steelheart's Mike Matijevic won the informal award for "Cockiest
Lead Singer" of the fest. He rode a motorcycle onto the stage and
cameras filmed the entire entry. A couple of my friends were basically
like, "Who *IS* this guy?" while another of my buddies reportedly went
apesh*t with delight throughout the band's set. Interesting.
...The tour programs/booklets disappeared quickly. My friends were all
shut out and thusly bummed. I got a look at last year's program and it
was very cool, so this kinda sucks.
...Overall, one of my friends said he preferred last year's fest to
this year's. My other friend who's been to both hasn't commented on
this yet, and the third friend didn't go last year so he must abstain
from this vote. Final verdict: Need more information. :)
-I got some positive feedback on last week's spiel about cool newer
bands like Saving Abel, Shinedown, etc. A younger co-worker gave me a
slap on the back for waking up and discovering Shinedown, and Theory
Of A Deadman got some high praise from a few readers. As one said,
"It's nice to have some modern music that just sounds like rock."
Amen! (Thanks, Mike & Jan!)
-In my current playlist: Saving Abel - s/t (Virgin Records), Caamora -
WALK ON WATER (Metal Mind Productions), Sin Dealer - DYING TO LIVE
(indie), Tora Tora - SURPRISE ATTACK (A&M).
