Exodus has just completed work on a re-recording of its classic 1985
debut album, BONDED BY BLOOD. Produced by guitarist Gary Holt, the new
CD -- entitled LET THERE BE BLOOD -- was recorded at Sharkbite Studios
in Oakland, California; JKZ Production Studio in San Rafael,
California; with vocal tracks recorded at J. Rod Production Studios in
New City, New York. Andy Sneap is currently mixing the CD at his
Backstage studio in Derbyshire, England. An October 2008 release
through Zaentz Records is expected.

Exodus vocalist Rob Dukes released the following statement to
regarding the band's decision to re-record BONDED BY BLOOD:

"Paul [Baloff, former Exodus vocalist who passed away in 2002] was
rad, totally original. He was not like [Metallica's James] Hetfield or
[Slayer's Tom] Araya. I think at times he wanted to be but he was
simply himself. He had a really cool way of going up with his voice in
the weirdest spots. I, myself, find it cool and original.

"I have been singing these songs regularly for three years now and I
have totally made them my own but with all the nuances that Paul threw
in. I have a different voice than Paul, so it would be kinda stupid to
just mimic him, but I definitely bite his style but try to remain
myself.

"This record is a total homage to him with modern technology and for
fun. If he was around, which it is unfortunate that he not, he would
be doing this record.

"My life is cool now, but it was cool before I joined Exodus; I made
good money had a great apartment in L.A. and I traveled everywhere and
surfed regularly.

"Honestly, I would rather hear Paul re-record this.

"I will give these songs all the venom and hate I can give, and it's
all for the love I have for these songs and this band. If those out
there don't like it, and think it's not good, listen to the original
-- it will always stand the test of time."

Gary Holt (Exodus) recently recorded guest appearances on the new
Destruction album.

Commented Destruction front man Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer: "Gary Holt
and Jeff Waters play on "Urge (The Greed Of Gain)"; the first solo is
Gary, the second is Mike [Sifringer; Destruciton guitarist], and the
long third solo is Jeff. If you listen to his solo you'll know right
away that it's him because he's got this picking style that gives you
goosebumps."

It was 2006 when Teaser decided that the melodic rock/hard rock
community needed a band that's not just a band that's only dedicated
to the '80s. When all the spots in the band were filled, Swedish
melodc rockers Teaser were all about doing something more modern, that
would appeal to a wider audience. Now the band are rocking showing the
melodic rock world what they are doing!

Teaser's sound cites a variety of musical influenses. Epic
melodramatic "Rush-like" chord progressions, atmospheric clean guitars
with heavy melodic guitars. With a more aggressive and modern angle to
the melodic rock sound.

Teaser open their gigs with a hard rock/metal version of the theme
from "Terminator 2" and Dan Hawkins of Stone Gods (ex Darkness) fame
has taken the band under his wings and has become a "guitar menthor"
for them.

Mike Lavér has been invited to play with the excellent and well
respected Lec Zorn on his upcoming new CD.

Currently, Teaser are in the studio recording a soundtrack for the
movie: "Back Both Ways" featuing Will Barnhart. "Back Both Ways" is an
independant Hollywood movie, that eventually will be made into a
triology series. All songs from Teaser's new EP/Demo NO BIG DEAL will
be featured on the movie soundtrack.

The movie will be screened at film festivals in the U.S. and the band
are also in the studio recording 12 new songs.

Webster Theater hosts riveting three-band rock show on July 30th

BROOKLYN, NY -- High profile Brooklyn, NY rock/metal band FEFF is
slated to open for two major acts -- Alter Bridge and Sevendust -- on
Wednesday, July 30th at the Webster Theater, 31 Webster Street,
Hartford, CT 06114. Doors open at 7 p.m. $25 general admission -- all
ages show. FEFF has won numerous awards including one of the Top 12
Unsigned Bands on XM Radio, has toured cross-country with
Jagermeister-sponsored band SiX in 2007 and also toured the Southeast
early in 2008.

Imagine this -- in a business dominated by plastic pop stars, ready-
made radio hits and American idols, there's still a hard rock band
doing it all by themselves the old fashioned way -- taking the music
to the people, winning fans face to face, and in the process, earning
the title "The future of Hard Rock" (WRHU 88.7FM). Not too bad for
four boys from Brooklyn... The story begins in late 2003, when the New
York born and raised Pfeffer brothers Rob (Vocals, Guitar) and Dan
(Guitar) set out to create an original hard-hitting sound that would
incorporate aggressive melodies, in your face guitars and ear
grabbing, radio-ready hooks, while still staying true to the band's
old school metal influences. FEFF's lineup solidified with the
additions of Pat Crotty (Drums), and Adam James (Bass). The band hit
the New York club circuit and beyond with an incredibly powerful, high
energy show that won them a loyal following of hard rock fans all over
the country.

The band's early demos began receiving airplay on NYC's 92.3 K-ROCK.
Due to the overwhelming amount of requests, K-ROCK invited FEFF to
their studios for an on-air interview with DJ Matt Pinfield. After K-
ROCK began playing FEFF, Q104.3 and 102.3 WBAB followed suit, putting
FEFF among the few unsigned bands to be played on all three of NYC's
major rock radio stations. In just a few months the band sold every
copy of their self-titled demo, so FEFF decided it was time to head
into the studio to finally record their full-length debut album
QUESTION THE MOTIVE. Released on Oct. 20th, 2006 to anxiously awaiting
fans all across the world, the new LP further proves that FEFF is a
force to be reckoned with in the hard rock world. Necessity being the
mother of invention, the label-less band has consistently thought up
cutting edge ways to utilize the Internet to get the CD into the hands
of fans worldwide. Astonishing sales of QUESTION THE MOTIVE, and tens
of thousands of hits to their Web site every day has made FEFF one of
the most successful unsigned hard rock bands in the United States.
Needless to say, this sort of commotion did not go unnoticed. Sirius
satellite radio's "The Howard Stern Show" took a liking to the band
and has consistently plugged FEFF on the air while also using tracks
from the band's brand new album as bumpers and intros to the show. XM
Satellite Radio also jumped on the FEFF bandwagon, labeling them as
one of the top twelve unsigned bands in the country following a long
run as one of the most played and requested bands on XM channel 52.

Even with all this, it's the live show where FEFF really shines. The
band embarked on their first tour in the fall of 2006, a three-week
escapade which brought their raw, energetic live show to the entire
east coast, and to a sold out New Year's Eve show for 3,500 people at
Philadelphia's Tower Theatre with Artie Lange of the Howard Stern
show. FEFF, always looking to blaze a new trail, performed a 30-date
excursion in 2007 which took them from New York to California and
everywhere in between. Amidst a mob of apathetic, passionless
competitors, FEFF has proven themselves as a band with the attitude

The Brazilian heavy/folk metallers of Lothlöryen signed a contract
with Die Hard Records, which will release the band's second album,
SOME WAYS BACK NO MORE, in Brazil.

Die Hard was founded as a store in 1996 by André and Fausto, and
actually work with the best metal labels and distros. As a label they
work with great Brazilian and worldwide acts like Impellitteri,
U.D.O., Annihilator, Imago Mortis, TNT, Magician, and Chris Caffery,
and now they also have Lothlöryen in their cast.

Desolate Ways recording third album, studio diary available

The gothic/doom metal band Desolate Ways posted online a studio diary
of the recordings of their third album. The CD is being recorded in
Nitro Sound Solutions' studios, with the production of Roger Fingle,
vocalist and multi-instrumentist of Blood Tears and Seduced By
Suicide.

About the recordings, the vocalist Max Lima comments: "The recordings
couldn't be better. It's already possible to have a good idea of the
new songs' power. I think we got back to the past a little bit, with a
darker sound. It's the first time working with Roger Fingle, and I can
say that it's being a great experience. We definitely came back with
more experience as musicians, besides of that it's great to enjoy the
city of Caxias do Sul, with great italian food and extremely cold
weather."

HOLLYWOOD, CA -- Marc Rizzo is one of the new breed of young
guitarists in contemporary bands and has built a substantial following
through his years of touring and recording with IL Nino, Soulfly and
now breaking Metal History with shredding for Metal Icons Max & Igor
Cavalera in Cavalera Conspiracy.

Rizzo has stepped out with solo projects that reveal a phenomenal
command of the guitar. Both solo albums unveil Rizzo to be a master
musician with deep musical roots in metal, classical and flamenco
guitar. Rizzo's raw energy combined with the talent of a new-
generation shred-master is a much needed breath of fresh air to the
instrumental rock genre.

Cavalera Conspiracy consists of Max Cavalera (vocals/rhythm guitar),
Igor Cavalera (drums/percussion), Marc Rizzo (lead/rhythm guitars),
and Joe Duplantier (bass). INFLIKTED is the long-awaited moment
providing Metal a new era with the Cavalera Brothers. In the veins of
Sepultura with a twist, the band turns back to heavier and darker
material giving their fans exactly what they have been waiting for.
Max's vocals explodes onto the 11 tracks of INFLIKTED joined with the
pounding of Igor's drum beats, Marc Rizzo's shred slicing guitar and
Joe Duplantier thumping bass lines. "When I listen to the album, it
sounds old school, but new in its own way," explains Igor. "It's a mix
of both worlds."

Recording took place at Undercity Studios in Los Angeles, with Logan
Mader (former Machine Head guitarist) and Lucas Banker of the Dirty
Icon production team. Rex Brown (Pantera, Down) cameos on bass on
"Ultra-Violent," and "Black Ark" features a collaboration with Max,
Joe and Richie Cavalera (Incite) all on vocals.

-There will be a special tribute to Pantera's "Dimebag" Darrell at
Ozzfest, on August 9 in Dallas, featuring an all-star lineup including
Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Kerry King (Slayer), Jerry Cantrell (Alice
In Chains), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Damageplan),
and Bob Zilla (Damageplan).

-Stephen Pearcy (Ratt) has a new disc out called UNDER MY SKIN. Track

-More Rocklahoma musings from my pals Axeman, Hawk, and Monkey Boy...

...Queensryche's OPERATION: MINDCRIME performance was "flawless," and
Geoff Tate was in fine form according to Axeman. Monkey Boy (who used
to *hate* Queensryche back in the day but recently started coming
around to appreciate them) found Tate's political antics annoying,
though. And Hawk, who is as big a MINDCRIME fan as anybody, admitted
he's finally starting to tire of the Broadway-style theatrics.

...XYZ, House Of Lords, Steelheart, Crooked X, Tesla, and Lynch Mob
were great, and so were the BulletBoys, in a show performed in one of
the impromptu tents after the side stages blew down.

...Armored Saint was the heaviest band on the main stage, and received
two "great" votes and one "good" vote. I'll list them here as "great
minus." :)

...Dokken was heralded as "very good," and Hawk was blown away when
John Levin "played the tapping part of the 'In My Dreams' solo with
one hand." Don Dokken tied UFO's Phil Mogg for the "Best Between-Song
Stage Banter" award.

...On the "good" list: Sebastian Bach, UFO (particularly Vinnie
Moore), FireHouse, Jackyl, Tora Tora, Axe, Shy Tiger, Ron Keel, and
Night Ranger. Also making the cut: Ratt (with a "best-ever"
performance from Stephen Pearcy), L.A. Guns (with "Rock Star: INXS"
star Marty Casey now on vocals; they did Casey's song "Trees"), and
Warrant (despite Jani Lane seeming "a little out of it").

..."OK": Bret Michaels, Black 'N Blue, Kingdom Come, and Extreme,
following a strong start. (Hawk: "Extreme playing 'Communication
Breakdown' instead of 'Get The Funk Out' is like Led Zeppelin playing
'Helter Skelter' instead of 'Stairway To Heaven.' Weird.") Ace Frehley
is also in this group, and Hawk found it ridiculous that the video
screens during Ace's set pretty much ignored his band and only showed
the guitarist.

..."Bad": Living Colour. Axeman commented there were "too many boring
jazz inspired jams" and "people confuse Vernon Reid's quick sloppy
playing with talent."

...Some bands that were missed, but were reportedly pretty good: Kix,
Lita Ford, Trixter, and Enuff Z'Nuff.

...Rumor has it Lynch Mob "and another band or two" didn't approve
photos for the concert program and sued to have them stopped, so the
programs were no longer available after Saturday.

-It's cool Spinal Tap won that RollingStone.com poll, but where the
heck are Strange Fruit ("Still Crazy"), Clam Dandy ("Prey For Rock &
Roll"), and Dethklok ("Metalocalypse")? And heck, what about the Dr.
Teeth Band from "The Muppet Show"? Animal was very metal. :)

In 1979 Pat Travers released one of the best live hard rock albums
ever, the electrifying GO FOR WHAT YOU KNOW. GO FOR WHAT YOU KNOW
became an instant favorite of fans and helped to propel Pat to rock
stardom with catchy tunes such as "Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights)" and
"Gettin' Betta." Twenty-eight years later, Pat recorded an update of
sorts with STICK WITH WHAT YOU KNOW, a live document that almost
reaches the lofty heights of the original. Starting off with the
autobiographical "Life In London," Pat immediately proves that he has
lost none of the fire that made him such an exciting performer back in
his heyday. Highlights abound, including the ominous feel of "Crash
And Burn," metal crunch of "I Don't Care," vintage rocker "Heat In The
Street," and crowd favorite "Snortin' Whiskey." Pat's voice is in fine
form, strong and assured, and his band matches his attack with equal
enthusiasm. Pat includes some covers reflecting his love of the blues,
including Hendrix's "Red House," but it's a blistering version of
Albert King's "Born Under A Bad Sign" that really lets Pat blend his
hard rock and blues sensibilities most effectively. I don't want to
overlook the excellent mix, which has the kind of punch more live
albums should exhibit. I wish Pat had included a few more of his own
classics, as he's written some of the tastiest rock songs you're
likely ever to hear, but overall STICK WITH WHAT YOU KNOW is a very
satisfying listen and a definite testament to the talent of this
enduring Canadian musician. Go for it!
