-Edguy's "Ministry Of Saints" Video Available!
"Ministry Of Saints," the new video from the German melodic metal band
Edguy, can be viewed here:
http://de.sevenload.com/sendungen/EDGUY/folgen/eGURCx5-Edguy-Ministry-
Of-Saints
The clip was shot in Belgrade, Serbia. The song comes off the group's
new album, TINNITUS SANCTUS, which is scheduled for release in Europe
on November 14 via Nuclear Blast Records.
The CD, which will be issued in North America in early 2009, was
recorded at Gate Studios in Wolfsburg, Germany with producer Sascha
Paeth.
Check out an e-card for TINNITUS SANCTUS at
http://www.nuclearblast.de/splash/edguy_ecard/index.html .
Track List:
1. Ministry Of Saints
2. Sex Fire Religion
3. The Pride Of Creation
4. Nine Lives
5. Wake Up Dreaming Black
6. Dragonfly
7. Thorn Without A Rose
8. 9-2-9
9. Speedhoven
10. Dead Or Rock
11. Aren't You A Little Pervert Too?
A digi-pak version of Tinnitus Sanctus will include a bonus CD
entitled LIVE IN LOS ANGELS.
In a recent interview, Edguy front man Tobias Sammet stated about the
group's new material:
"We don't go back to the roots. We never denied who we are and where
we come from, so I don't see a reason to go back to wherever. I go
straight forward and follow my heart as I've always done, TINNITUS
SANCTUS is exactly the music we wanna play, we are happy and I don't
give a f*ck if it's gonna be our biggest-selling album or not.
"It's so great, even if my career would go down the drain and this
would be the last album, I'd be more than happy to be remembered as
the guy who recorded TINNITUS SANCTUS. I'd rather ruin my carreer with
a creative killer album like that than trying to play safe with a
boring stereotype power metal stinker constructed on a drawing table.
We have a couple of song titles such as 'Dragonfly,' 'Dead Or Rock,'
'Wake Up Dreaming Black' or 'Sex Fire Religion.' And we'll shoot a
video for a very heavy midtempo anthem by the name of 'Ministry Of
Saints.' And there'll be a bonus track called 'Aren't You A Little
Pervert Too?' which is quite nasty."

-Heaven & Hell Interview With Ronnie James Dio Available Online
Black Sabbath set benchmarks for bands to follow in their wake but it
was Dio's inclusion that put them in another realm. The three studio
albums that they put out were second to none, benchmarks if you will.
RockNation sat down with Ronnie at their stop in Devore, CA to talk
some history and the magnificent RULES OF HELL box set that Rhino has
delivered to the masses.
RockNation: You are involved in the Metal Masters tour. What brought
this tour together?
Ronnie James Dio: We were not planning on doing any touring at all as
we were busy writing for the next album we are going to do, a proper
Heaven & Hell album. We probably needed a break from writing and we
were going to take that break anyway but we were going to go home and
hang out with our pets, animals and families. The Priest guys asked us
to do a short tour which has only been 17 shows encompassing about
three weeks so we thought it might be interesting to get away and do
this. We said yes because we have been friends forever and K.K., Rob
and Glenn are from the same area that Tony is from so it was a very
attractive tour to do. The Motorhead guys have been my friends for
years and the Testament guys I love too and I have known them forever
so it made sense. It would be comfortable to and it was a great
package.

-Supersite ClassicRockRevisited.com Celebrates Their 10th Anniversary
With The Release Of Book Series "From The Vault"
"Series 1: Stadium Rock" pre-order begins November 12th, 2008
Take part in the pre-order and save 10% off cover price, get free
shipping in the U.S. and have your copy signed by the author. All
details at: http://www.classicrockrevisited.com/book.htm
ClassicRockRevisited.com, the brainchild of Jeb Wright, first hit the
Internet in 1999. Wright, who had no experience in journalism or
running a Web site, took it upon himself to bring a Classic Rock
Magazine to the online world. Now, ten years and millions of hits
later, ClassicRockRevisited.com has become a major media outlet for
the Classic Rock music community. Each month, the Web site features
in-depth, exclusive interviews with some of the biggest names to ever
take the stage.
In 2009, ClassicRockRevisited.com will celebrate their 10th year
online. To commemorate their first decade of rock 'n' roll, the first
in a series of books will be released featuring some of the biggest
names Wright has ever interviewed. These interviews are only available
here and are no longer available at Classic Rock Revisited.
"Series 1: Stadium Rock" features the following in-depth interviews:
Kansas * Paul Rodgers * Sammy Hagar * Ted Nugent * Steve Perry of
Journey * Foghat * Joe Perry of Aerosmith * Foreigner * Steve Miller *
Boston's Tom Scholz * REO Speedwagon * Dennis DeYoung of Styx
Wright, who has been published around the globe, in popular Rock
magazines including Classic Rock in the U.K., This Is Rock in Spain
and Goldmine in the U.S.A., has a unique interviewing style that gets
the stars to open up and talk about their music, their life and their
creative endeavors.
The forward to the book was written by Goldmine Editor Peter Lindblad
who states this book is "a fascinating read from cover-to-cover,
Wright's collection of interviews will give you a new appreciation for
the blood, sweat and tears that went into making each of the artists
the monsters of rock they were, and, in many cases, still are. Get
ready for a wild ride."
The artwork for the cover of "From The Vault: Series 1: Stadium Rock"
was created by renowned album cover artist Ioannis of Vivid Images
Design. Ioannis has designed album covers for Blue Oyster Cult, the
Allman Brothers, Styx, Deep Purple and many others.
"From The Vault: Series 1: Stadium Rock" is like owning a piece of
Rock History!
The stories included will be read again and again as Wright uncovers
Classic Rock's illustrious past, present and future. See what some of
Wright's interview subjects have to say about being interviewed by
Classic Rock Revisited:
"Jeb Wright is not just my American BloodBrother, he is a heart and
soul BloodBrother to real American music lovers everywhere as he
continues to fan the flames of the greatest classic rock of all times.
Jeb is a SoulBrother, FunkBrother BloodBrother, all American Rock-N-
Roll maniac, and he deserves me!" -- Ted Nugent
"Jeb Wright is unique and a very natural interviewer." -- Paul Rodgers
"From one Topeka boy to another, it's always great working with Jeb."
-- Phil Ehart of Kansas
"When Jeb interviewed me, I already knew him as a backstage regular. I
think it made me more open and honest." -- Neal Doughty of REO
Speedwagon
"Jeb Wright is a font of Rock N Roll knowledge. His interview
questions are some of the best we have heard. He has a way of getting
to the interesting stuff that people want to know about. Nothing
boring about Jeb. We love him!" -- Roger Earl of Foghat
"Jeb Wright asks the questions people want to know about. This book
makes a great gift, but read it before you wrap it!" -- Tom Scholz of
Boston
About the author:
Jeb Wright is a 42-year-old music fanatic who lives in Arkansas City,
Kansas. Born in the capitol city of Topeka, Wright became hooked on
music when discovering that Rich Williams, guitarist for the band
Kansas, grew up next door to Wright's grandparents. In 1999, Wright
utilized the newest media form, the Internet, in order to begin an
online magazine called Classic Rock Revisited. Over the course of the
last ten years, Wright has interviewed hundreds of rock stars and has
gained a solid reputation for his interviewing skills. Wright's
interviews have been published internationally in such publications as
Goldmine Magazine in the U.S.A., Classic Rock Magazine in the U.K. and
This Is Rock Magazine in Spain.

-Iced Earth Extends U.S./Canada Tour With Third Leg In Support Of THE
CRUCIBLE OF MAN
Back in the mid-late '90s, when everyone was declaring that "metal was
dead," guitarist Jon Schaffer and his band, Iced Earth, refused to
acknowledge the naysayers, and were one of the few metal bands of the
era to proudly continue on their metal path. As a result, Iced Earth
has built an enormous and dedicated following throughout the world,
and this year, issued their tenth studio album overall, THE CRUCIBLE
OF MAN: SOMETHING WICKED PART II. Spending the summer touring in
support of the album alongside such metal legends as Iron Maiden,
Judas Priest, and Kiss, Iced Earth is prepared to bring their show
back to the U.S. in November, for a string of special shows.
"I am very much looking forward to the next leg of the North American
'Crucible,'" says Schaffer. "We have been working pretty much non-stop
since May, and there's no better way to end the year than with a
healthy dose of METAL! Meeting the Minions [referring to Iced Earth's
fan club, 'The Minions of the Wicked'] before and after the shows has
been a great experience. I started this band as a vehicle for my
songs, and the fans that truly 'get' Iced Earth -- and the way of life
that surrounds it -- are the reason I am still out there. The energy
between the band and the fans is something that is very dear to my
heart."
Support on all these forthcoming dates will come from Early Man. And
due to the overwhelming success of the initial 'CHILD OF THE WICKED'
VIP packages, Iced Earth have decided to give their fans the chance to
get close to the band again, by offering VIP packages (which are
already on sale) for all the shows listed below. "There will be some
surprises in 2009," hints Schaffer. "We will announce more worldwide
touring shortly, and I am already hard at work on the next chapter. No
rest for the wicked!"
List of upcoming Iced Earth tour dates:
NOV. 07 - Marquee Theater. Tempe, Arizona
NOV. 08 - Sunshine Theater. Albuquerque, New Mexico
NOV. 09 - Bluebird Theater. Denver, Colorado

-Eternal Descent To Cut Second Album With Eddie Kramer
Industrial/metal/goth band teams up with legendary producer
LONDON, UK -- Eternal Descent, the up-and-coming industrial/metal/goth
band from London, U.K., announced today that legendary producer Eddie
Kramer, famed for his work with artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Led
Zeppelin and Kiss, will be overseeing production and engineering their
second album.
Kramer explained, "I'm excited to be working with such great creative
and energetic artists. Eternal Descent reminds me of 'The Garden Of
Earthly Delights'; particularly the sinners panel! The project is
indeed a challenging one as it encompasses all of the skills both
myself and the artists have learned. We will need to be at the top of
our game to make it a reality. The scope of this recording appeals
right to the core of my production and engineering skills."
Rob Sutherland, the Eternal Descent second guitarist who worked with
Kramer on a previous project remarked, "It's such an honour to be
working with Eddie. His musical skill is of such a high level that
it's just awesome to know that he will be guiding us through this
behemoth of a recording."
As well as producing and mastering the album, Kramer will also be co-
orchestrating the arrangement of orchestral parts, based on scores by
Eternal Descent mastermind Llexi Leon.
"Eddie is not just a world-renowned producer and one of the craziest
guys we know," said Leon. "He is also an extremely accomplished
musician who studied classical piano, cello and violin at the
prestigious South African college of Music. Since Eternal Descent is a
melting pot of gothic, ambient metal with ubiquitous orchestral
soundscapes, Eddie is the perfect guy to work with on these powerful
moving sections."
The recording will take place both in London where the band are based
and also in L.A. where they will have meetings with Eddie to work on
various parts of the album. The first trip to L.A. will be sponsored
by Faith Guitars.
"We are off to the Winter NAMM show next year and we will meet Eddie
there to kick the whole thing off. It's going to be great! It will be
my first trip to America and I can't wait," said Sutherland.
"Faith and ESP have just been so supportive of everything we do it is
mind blowing. It's great to work with companies who understand the
value of an artist," Leon affirms.
To date, Eternal Descent has had two releases -- an EP and a full-
length CD release. The PHANTOM OF THE OPERA EP released earlier this
year, is a taste of things to come from the new Eternal Descent album
and comic slated for a 2009 release.
Eternal Descent's 2007 release LOSING FAITH continues to see
significant success with the media and has been hailed as one of the
best concept albums on the market. WCH Radio named the track "Our Own
Devils" from LOSING FAITH as one of the Top 30 songs of 2007.
Eternal Descent's sound weaves elements of metal, industrial, ambient
and experimental music fused with romantic filmscore arrangements.
Using cutting edge cinematic sound effects, narrative lyrics and
fusions of styles from ethereal soundscapes to crushing metal, the aim
of this project is to integrate comic book visuals and animation
within an album style series of releases. LOSING FAITH was the first
in this series. Going one step further than simply creating a
soundtrack to the comic, the audio for all releases includes narrative
style lyrics and quotes from the scripts, along with dynamic sound
effects and orchestration to accurately portray events and atmospheres
within the story. Each track represents a comic book, and the LOSING
FAITH album is split into three chapters of four tracks. Each chapter
will be released as a four-issue miniseries in comic book format. The
first comic to be released will be an issue #0 preview, giving depth
to the main characters and providing a backstory and timeline for the
album. The first issue will be published early in 2009. Music videos
are also being created in animation format to bring pivotal events of
the story to life in an anime style.
Eternal Descent endorses ESP guitars, Faith guitars, Ernie Ball
strings, and Orange amplifiers.

-Musicians Institute's Music Business Program Instructors Set To
Release Five-Volume Series Of Books On Music Business Contracts
After nearly four years and more than three thousand hours of
research, analysis and compilation, Music Law Press (
http://www.musiclawpress.com/ ) has published the first volume of
Robert Nathan's and Burgundy Morgan's comprehensive guide to music
industry legal issues entitled, "...but where do I sign? Volume One:
The Essentials." Both Robert Nathan and Burgundy Morgan teach Music
Contracts courses at Musicians Institute's Music Business Program in
Hollywood ( http://www.mi.edu/ ).
This new, definitive series not only provides information and guidance
for singers, songwriters, musicians and others in the music industry,
but is equally directed toward attorneys and other professionals who
do not regularly practice within the unorthodox world of the music
business.
"Volume One – The Essentials" covers contract fundamentals,
intellectual property law, copyrights, trademarks, copyright
registration procedures, personality and publicity rights ("name and
likeness"), contract negotiation and drafting techniques, and dispute
resolution (mediation, arbitration, and litigation). There is also a
chapter which provides sample contract clauses and provisions, with
detailed discussions of their intended purpose and legal effect, as
well as "Artist-friendly" and "Company-friendly" alternative versions.
The remaining four volumes of the series will follow at approximately
six- to nine-month intervals:
"Volume Two – Band Agreements & Recording Contracts" contains detailed
discussions of performer-related legal issues, with side-by-side
contract analyses of alternative versions of inter-band partnership
agreements, personal management contracts, booking agreements (single
engagements, tours, pay-to-play, etc.), recording studio agreements,
demo deals, record contracts, distribution agreements, master use
licensing, merchandising and endorsement deals, and other contracts
relating to artists and musical recordings. (Anticipated publication
date: February 2009)
"Volume Three – Songwriter Agreements, Publishing Contracts &
Licenses" encompasses publishing-related issues, with side-by-side
contract analyses of alternative versions of songwriting agreements,
collaboration contracts, publishing and co-publishing agreements,
administration deals, shopping agreements, single-song agreements,
mechanical licenses, sync licenses, ringtone, Karaoke, small-right and
grand-right licenses, and numerous other contracts and licenses
related to songwriters and music publishing. (Anticipated publication
date: December 2009)
"Volume Four – Miscellaneous Music Industry Agreements, Releases, &
Licenses" covers all of the various contracts and licenses which don't
fall neatly within the categories of artist-, recording-, songwriter-,
or publisher-related issues (E.g., legal services agreements, business
management contracts, general releases, etc.) As with prior volumes in
the series, each contract will include detailed, side-by-side analyses
and alternative versions for comparison. (Anticipated publication
date: June 2010)
"Volume Five – Sample Forms Of Music Industry Agreements, Releases, &
Licenses" will include full versions of all of the various forms of
agreement, licenses and releases which are analyzed throughout the
first four volumes of the series, as well as other useful forms.
(Anticipated publication date: December 2010)
Finally, as a companion to the series, Music Law Press will offer a
separate CD containing all of the various contracts, agreements,
licenses, assignments, releases and other documents discussed in the
various volumes, provided in editable (Word, Word Perfect), and Adobe
(PDF) formats. (Anticipated publication date: August 2010)
The books can be purchased online by going to

-Shadow Kingdom To Release Asylum Demo Tapes
Shadow Kingdom Records has unearthed and will release the demo tapes
from Asylum, titled THE EARTH IS THE INSANE ASYLUM OF THE UNIVERSE,
one of the many underground gems that made up the legendary doom metal
scene of Maryland in the 1980s.
A posting on the official record label's Web site about the release
reads: "The legendary Maryland Doom Metal scene was and still is
filled with monster bands! Asylum (who later changed their name to
Unorthodox at their old record label's request) is yet another
underground gem, never officially released. With only copies of this
tape being spread (known as the 1985 Demo) around in trading circles
since the time of its recording, this was one of the harder demos to
find.
"Now for the first time in 23 years, this recording is officially
being released. What a treat this is for '80s metal fans too because
what most people don't know is that Dale Flood (guitarist/vocalist) is
an absolute magician on the axe. His style derives from Progressive
'70s Rock like Rush, Yes, Deep Purple, etc., mixed with the thunderous
and mighty Doom/Heavy riffs from likes of Pentagram, Black Sabbath,
Motorhead, etc. This is all played together with an amazing rhythm
section featuring of the most underrated drummers in heavy metal:
Ronnie Kalimon. This album has its own mark and sound in the
underground and believe me this is no carbon copy of any other band;
their unique sound speaks for itself and stands alone! The amazing
thing about this recording is that is sounds fresh and new even though
it's 23 years old.
"If you love '70s Heavy Rock, '80s Heavy Metal and Doom, you won't
believe your ears! This is the very first Asylum demo released with
all its flaws from low budget recording and if you like this, there's
plenty more in the Asylum vault to be released in the future."

-Wino Album Details
It's if our prayers have been answered! Finally, fans of underground
cult guitar hero Scott "Wino" Weinrich can rejoice because Wino's
first solo album is upon us! Over the last 25 years Wino has defined
heavy music and is truly the Godfather of the movement. Starting with
the Obsessed, and Saint Vitus and onto his mind-blowing power trios:
Spirit Caravan and The Hidden Hand his virtuosity on six strings is
matched perfectly with his soulful vocals and powerful lyrics. But as
us Wino freaks know he has always graciously shared the spotlight with
his band members. Even though it was Wino we came to see and hear he
seemed to understand the power of the chemistry of the bands he was
leading. His selflessness seems unnecessary considering his talents
but it was his decision to equally share the glory.
After the demise of his last group, The Hidden Hand, Wino did not
rest. With new found energy he completed the writing of many new songs
and decided to enlist the help of some friends to help realize his new
musical vision. The idea was not to start a new power trio with a new
name as before. This time it was about finding players who would help
realize his songs the way he wanted them. This more "Wino"-focused
direction was fleshed out with the help of two amazing musicians: Jean
Paul Gaster (Clutch, The Bakerton Group) on drums and Jon Blank
(Rezin) on bass. PUNCTUATED EQUILIBRIUM was recorded by J. Robbins who
has worked extensively with both the Hidden Hand and Clutch in the
past.
The album comes with amazing original artwork by David D' Andrea and
contains extensive liner notes from Wino himself that explicitly
describe the origin and concept of each track. Here is an excerpt that
I feel perfectly explains this album.
"This is the culmination of a very old dream, one that has come true
in many different ways. One of the main things I have learned is how I
understand 'success.' To me, it's not all riches and glory so much as
the impact on others lives. My main philosophy that guides me is that
I was given a gift, a Musical gift which I use to bring happiness to
others. It is also important not to overlook your own needs, but
putting yourself in the other person's shoes is to me most important!
PUNCTUATED EQUILIBRIUM is how my personality has been described, as
told in the lyrics."

-You may remember I bought the recent issue of Rolling Stone with
Metallica on the cover. Prior to that I'd say it'd been, oh, YEARS
since I bought that magazine. Now, mere weeks later I've gotten
another one: issue # 1065 (November 13) with AC/DC on the cover. Man,
there's a fair amount of metal in this issue. I might actually have to
consider checking out Rolling Stone on a more consistent basis.
Consider:
...The huge AC/DC cover story, complete with "Editor's Notes" (p. 16),
an "AC/DC's Best" sidebar (p. 72), and an associated feature at
http://www.rollingstone.com/issue1065 with photos and video from the
band's cover shoot, a photo history of the band, and footage of the
"Rock N Roll Train" video shoot.
...An online exclusive feature entitled "The 50 Most Rock & Roll Video
Games" at http://www.rollingstone.com/issue1065 . (And the graphic
touting this feature is the animated version of Zakk Wylde.)
...An interesting article (p. 21) about the trend of bands signing
"exclusive release" agreements with big box stores, where AC/DC and
Guns N' Roses are mentioned.
...A blurb on p. 31 indicating Slash is working on a solo album,
possibly with producer Mark Ronson.
...An article (p. 36) on Queen + Paul Rodgers.
...A Q&A with James Hetfield (p. 40) that actually mentions Raven!
...A blurb on p. 49 says Def Leppard and Taylor Swift will appear
together on CMT's "Crossroads" soon.
...A piece on cars (p. 83) featuring Buckcherry, All-American Rejects,
and Hinder.
...A review of Lordi's DEADACHE on p. 93. (Three out of five stars.)
...An ad for VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show" on p. 101.
...A video game article on p. 103 with Ozzy Osbourne talking about
"Guitar Hero: World Tour."
...An ad for old-school metal T-shirts on p. 115. :)
I'm telling you, that's not bad.
-Speaking of Lordi, they appeared on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien"
last week and peformed "Bite It Like A Bulldog." It was kind of, um,
tepid I guess is the right word. I was disappointed.
-In my current playlist: AC/DC - BLACK ICE (Columbia Records),
Blackmore's Night - WINTER CAROLS (Locomotive Records), Paul Sabu -
STRANGE MESSIAH (Locomotive Records), Slank - ANTHEM FOR THE BROKEN
HEARTED (Slank Records/MRI).
