New Album AMERICAN SOLDIER Available March 31 From Atco/Rhino; U.S.
Tour To Begin April 16 In Seattle

LOS ANGELES -- "If I Were King," the first single from Queensryche's
highly anticipated new album AMERICAN SOLDIER, is now available for
download from all digital retailers. "If I Were King" was written
based on an interview lead singer Geoff Tate conducted with Sean
Lenahan, a veteran of U.S. conflicts in Somalia and Kosovo. Some
chilling sound bites from Tate's interview with Lenahan can be heard
at various points in the song. The song is also streaming at
http://www.myspace.com/queensryche .

"This is a song about loss and healing," says Tate. "A soldier who
lost his friend in a firefight and spent a lot of time afterwards
struggling with his feelings, wishing he could have done more to save
his friend. The song is saying if I were king, if I could do anything,
I'd have you back in my life again, back by my side. I thought that
was a very interesting and inspiring viewpoint."

Queensryche has also set up the phone number (206) 260-1215 for fans
to call and get updates on the new album and tour directly from Tate
himself. The number also has an option where fans and soldiers can
leave a message for the band. Every day starting on March 20, a new
30-second preview clip of one of the songs from AMERICAN SOLDIER can
be heard by calling the number, leading up to the March 31 release of
the album.

AMERICAN SOLDIER features a dozen songs inspired by numerous
interviews with veterans conducted by Tate, who was intent on telling
their story using their words. After speaking with soldiers who served
in various conflicts -- from World War II to Iraq -- Tate turned their
firsthand experiences from the frontlines into an unflinching musical
examination of war from the soldier's perspective.

Queensryche will launch an extensive tour of the U.S. on April 16 at
the Snoqualmie Casino outside of the band's hometown of Seattle. The
shows will be presented in three suites, with the band performing sets
from AMERICAN SOLDIER, RAGE FOR ORDER, and EMPIRE.

LOS ANGELES -- Actors/Directors/Musicians and Comedy Icons Christopher
Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer are doing something they have
never done before; performing a six-week, 30-city multi-media acoustic
tour without wigs and electric instruments.

Unwigged & Unplugged: An Evening with Christopher Guest, Michael
McKean and Harry Shearer has the legendary musical and comedic trio
performing music from heavy metal's loudest band Spinal Tap along with
the folk music from "A Mighty Wind," and more.

Tickets for the Unwigged & Unplugged tour go on sale Friday, March
6th, with the tour starting Friday, April 17th in Vancouver and ending
Sunday, May 31st in Milwaukee.

Unwigged & Unplugged is not about funny costumes and characters, but
rather three long time friends and collaborators who make each laugh
and love nothing better than to find some excuse to get together and
play music. The trio commented, "With this being the 25th Anniversary
of the film 'This Is Spinal Tap!,' we thought this would be a fun and
at the same time, a little challenging, as we have never performed as
ourselves. Think of the evening as three old friends jamming in your
living room. As opposed to OUR living rooms; we won't be home."

Unwigged & Unplugged will feature songs from the original soundtrack
"This Is Spinal Tap!" (1984), the studio album BREAK LIKE THE WIND
(1992), and "A Mighty Wind" (2003) along with some special surprises
and rarities thrown in.

Guest, McKean, and Shearer have a rich history going back decades.
Guest and McKean first met in college where they wrote songs together.
As for McKean and Shearer, they have known each other since 1970 when
they were both members of satirical group The Credibility Gap on
radio, stage and records.

In 1979, Guest, McKean and Shearer appeared together for the first
time in a Rob Reiner-produced, sketch comedy television pilot called
"The TV Show." It was here the world got their famous glimpse of
Spinal Tap featuring lead singer David St. Hubbins (McKean), guitarist
Nigel Tufnel (Guest), and bassist Derek Smalls (Shearer).

In 1984, Reiner and the lads devised a way to bring the group back
this time in a major motion picture, "This Is Spinal Tap!," and the
rest is history, literally. "This Is Spinal Tap!" was ranked #29 of
the "100 Funniest Films Of All Time" by The American Film Institute
and The Library of Congress added the film to the National Film
Registry's list of 25 American cinematic works selected for historical
preservation calling the film a "culturally significant" work.
Entertainment Weekly recently awarded "TIST" eleventh place (of
course) in their "cult film" list. And Netflix has ranked "This Is
Spinal Tap!" in the Top 1% of all Netflix Titles in terms of total
rentals to-date!

And the music of Spinal Tap is as popular today as it ever was --
their song "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight" has been featured
everywhere from the best selling video game "Guitar Hero 2" to a
Hallmark musical greeting card.

As for the ultimate compliment, the phrase "Up to eleven: up to
maximum volume" was included in the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary
as an ode to Nigel's amp that had controls that went beyond the usual
maximum setting of 10..."Louder."

In 2003, Guest, McKean and Shearer came back reincarnated for the
Christopher Guest directed film "A Mighty Wind" where they portrayed
The Folksmen, a trio of folk musicians consisting of Mark Shubb (bass
vocals and upright bass, played by Harry Shearer), Alan Barrows (tenor
vocals, mandolin, guitar, and five-string banjo, played by Christopher
Guest), and Jerry Palter (baritone vocals, guitar, and mandolin,
played by Michael McKean). The title track "A Mighty Wind" (written by
Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy and Michael McKean) was a 2004 Grammy
Award Winner for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture while the song
"A Kiss At The End Of The Rainbow" (written by Michael McKean and
Annette O'Toole) was nominated for an Oscar for Best Song. And over
the years, Guest, McKean and Shearer have continued to appear and work
together in various configurations in the Guest directed films:
"Waiting For Guffman" (1996), "Best In Show" (2000) and "For Your
Consideration" (2006).

Guest, McKean and Shearer summed up their working relationship and
friendship this way, "The three of us make each other laugh and that's
why we continue to do this. Why work with somebody who is going to
bore you to death? If you have a choice about things like that, no
one's going to choose the guy that puts you to sleep. "

Electric Boys are back -- at Sweden Rock of course!

Electric Boys' debut FUNK-O-METAL CARPET RIDE was an unprecedented
thing on the Swedish hard rock scene in 1989. The blend of heavy rock
and funk, influenced by Aerosmith as well as the Beatles, was quite
different from both dominant subgenres at the time, hair metal and
thrash. The following year, a somewhat different version of the album
saw an international release, and the song "All Lips N' Hips" got
noticed -- well, internationally. After one more album, GROOVUS
MAXIMUS (1992), guitarist Franco Santunione and drummer Niclas
Sigewall jumped ship, but singer/guitarist Conny Bloom and bassist
Andy Christell re-completed the band for the release of a third album,
FREEWHEELIN' (1994). Sadly, the story ended there, and Conny and Andy
rose to even greater fame with Finns Hanoi Rocks (R.I.P.). Now,
however, the long anticipated Electric Boys reunion is finally a
reality -- and with all the original members, no less. For the first
time in 15 years, classics like "All Lips N' Hips," "Mary In The
Mystery World" and "Get Nasty" will make us succumb to involuntary
outbursts of dancing!

-Slough Feg Cover Art And Album Details Revealed

San Francisco's veterans Slough Feg will release their long-awaited
new album, APE UPRISING this May! Release dates vary, landing on the
8th of May in Germany and Europe, 11th of May in U.K. and June 2 in
the U.S.A./Canada via Cruz Del Sur Music. APE UPRISING consists of
eight tracks and it is undoubtedly the heaviest release in the 20-year
long history of the band. The band used the usual team for recordings,
Justin Phelps and Justin Weis, later mastering the album at Traxwork
studio.

The cover artwork was created by Californian artist Larry Luna. View

A vinyl version of APE UPRISING will be released by end of April by

depth Podcast with the band's vivacious front woman Maria Brink in
which she talks about sexuality, being a role model to young girls,
what she does on the bus and how she gets along with male band mates.
She also discussed her relationship with her boyfriend/DevilDriver
bassist Jonathan Miller, her biggest nightmares and the thrill of

Brink can sing like an angel and howl like a demon and her band mates

Their debut offering, BEAUTIFUL TRAGEDY, was a searing platter of

more melodic, bearing more in common with a heavier Pat Benatar or No
Doubt. However the songs were also multi-faceted and the guitars were
heavy, and for all of the old fans that bailed, In This Moment picked
up more new listeners intrigued by the group's combination of
sensuality and crashing rock.

This Mudvayne run comes on the heels of the band's most successful
year yet which saw Brink landing major cover features in Inked,
Revolver and Metal Edge as their latest album, THE DREAM, debuted at
#70 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, marking the group's first
Billboard entry.

-Pestilence Is Back: RESURRECTION MACABRE To Release April 9th, 2009
On Mascot Records U.S.A.

HOLLYWOOD, CA -- Pestilence returns after 15 years of deathlike
silence to release the brand new studio album RESURRECTION MACABRE.
It's a stunning musical statement that will bring the band back to the
forefront of the international death metal community. The album is a
display of the timeless power of brutal death metal with modern day
technique and skill of experienced musicians.

The brand new album was recorded in Denmark, with producer Jacob
Hansen. The new incarnation of Pestilence consists of original band
member Patrick Mameli, the American bass wizard Tony Choy (Atheist,
Cynic, a.o.) and powerhouse drummer Peter Wildoer (Arch Enemy,
Darkane, a.o.). Guitar player Patrick Uterwijk will join the band for
the live shows.

"When so many people asked to resurrect Pestilence it got me
thinking," explains Patrick Mameli. "For many years it was a closed
chapter. I have always been very clear about that. The last couple of
years I discovered, to my amazement, that the band had not been
forgotten, but still meant a lot to many fans. So there were a few
things that got the ball rolling. First of all the fans. I also
noticed that old school death metal was making a comeback. It did whet
my appetite. I discovered that I felt the urge to get involved again
with the great musical tradition that is death metal. I wanted to
leave my own mark again. Another important factor was that I knew that
with Tony Choy and Peter Wildoer by my side I had found the right
people to make this dream come true. These guys are both absolutely
stunning musicians. Simply the best one could wish for. Their creative
input on the album is invaluable."

The result of many months of hard work is aptly titled RESURRECTION
MACABRE. The new album has everything to offer that a fan of
Pestilence -- old and new -- possibly could wish for. And more. It has
the dark atmosphere, brutal vocals, sheer power and technical skills
-- always the trademarks of Pestilence. Patrick Mameli stresses that
his band is not going to take the easy ride of nostalgia. "I don't
want to rely on successes of the past. This is not a reunion, but a
second life for Pestilence. That's why we wanted to mark our comeback
with a new studio album. Stylistically it goes back to the days of
CONSUMING IMPULSE and TESTIMONY OF THE ANCIENTS, but it's also
apparent that time did not stand still. I am a better musician than a
was back then. Compared to the old days the technical possibilities
are limitless."

Another link to the glory days of the past are the three old
Pestilence songs that get a new life on the new album: "Chemo
Therapy," "Out Of The Body" and "Lost Souls," all coming from the
first two Pestilence albums. "It seemed like a good idea to connect
ourselves to our musical past. Apart from that I liked the idea of
revisiting those old songs and to see what they would sound like when
performed and recorded in this advanced day and age."

Following the release of RESURRECTION MACABRE Pestilence will support
the album old heavy metal style: by hitting the road for a still
growing number of gigs worldwide. The first responses of fans,

In a statement made on Friday, February 27, 2009: "Nachtmystium has
sad news today with a once-again recurring issue surfacing from the
wake of our past. We've been forced, at the request of the promoters
and the folks at Scion / Toyota, to pull out of the Scion Rock Fest,
scheduled for Saturday, February 28. This news came to us just this
past Tuesday and was very disheartening to say the least. A troubling,
and unjustly-applied notion that we are, or ever have been, in any
way, a 'Nazi' band or a political band on any level, is completely
absurd and we are disgusted that there is someone out there who really
believes we are of this ilk. It made it as far as the sponsors of this
event's desks, and now we are forced to pull out of it after some
political threatening on the part of these ridiculously uneducated
person/people who have caused this ruckus.

"We'd like to make light of at least one aspect of this situation and
use the opportunity to once again clear the air -- we are, IN NO WAY,
a 'Nazi' band. We do NOT support such groups, political beliefs or
bands that are affiliated with that world. We have canceled tours in
the past and dodged working with bands and people BECAUSE they had
these ideologies and we never wanted to be affiliated with it. Yet,
here we are, a metal band whose members are more like hippies than
your typical leather-clad metal maniacs, and we're being falsely
accused of this association once again. We will be taking legal action
against the people who slandered us in this situation, and in the
future will file defamation / slander charges against any person or
organization who attempts to prevent us from performing anywhere,
especially in the United States. We are as offended by this as someone
might be at the notion of a Nazi band playing a big corporate-
sponsored festival. So -- let it be known loud and clear for the LAST
TIME, we ARE NOT a Nazi band, ARE NOT political, are certainly NOT
racists and DO NOT support that world or any band, person or business
affiliated with it.

Formed by guitarist Morgan Steinmeyer Hakansson with the goal of
becoming the "most blasphemous band in the world," it's been nearly a
decade since Marduk last toured the states making an already punishing
tour package all the more crucial. Marduk's latest album, ROM 5:12,
was released in North America in May 2007 via Regain.

Said Marduk in a collective statement to fans: "We are delighted to
announce Marduk's return to North America. We do not come in peace,
but with flames of fire! Looking forward to see you all!"

-The bit in this week's Queensryche press release about the band's
telephone hotline also made me smile. Y'see, I was a Metal Edge
subscriber for many years, and after reading this I thought back to
the days of your (circa 1993) when *all* the '80s bands had hotlines
set up to deliver the latest news to their fans. The numbers were all
printed in Metal Edge. I remember actually calling the Dokken hotline
a few times, but I never heard any updates because it would just play
the "this mailbox is full" message over and over. Ah, memories.

Speaking of Queensryche, I checked out the new single "If I Were King"
at their MySpace site. Let's just say I'm hoping the second single is
better... Man, I hope the new album is stellar because, given the
subject matter, it will hard to criticize it too much. I think what
Geoff Tate did in assembling the album is truly, truly cool and
remarkable. Fingers crossed.

Currently signed to Dark Star Records and winners of the 2008 WAMI
(Wisconsin Area Music Industry) Best Rock Group award, Bellevue Suite
is a Midwestern band that calls themselves a cross between classic
rock and power pop. Fans have compared their style to that of Bon
Jovi. The band is fronted by singer/songwriter Michael Sean, with
Jeremy Kletzien on guitar and Barry Jaeger on drums, with the bass
position, formerly taken by Tony Lentz, recently filled by former
member Dan Walters. What makes the band special is the melodies and
harmonies backed by a driving beat and the muscle of Kletzien's
guitars, not to mention a highly-energized live show. The music will
grab your attention, but the lyrics will keep that attention. The wide
range on this CD is the draw. Fan-favorite, bombastic "Happily Ever
After" and "Man Down" are the harder rock cuts on the release, but
hardly the heaviest this band can take their music. For a more intense
beat, one must hear in a live set the as-yet-unreleased song "Burn."
Sean turns introspective on "Save Me," where the spectacular harmonies
of the band grab your attention, and again on the fan-participation
cut, "Insert Your Name." Mid-tempo beats are on "Become," which
includes a funky, drum-driven, guitar-laden bridge, and "Lost," which
could easily be the signature single from the CD. Lyrics here are the
star; most evident in "The Truth," where the blend of beat, theme, and
the smooth word play and flow is perfect for the slower, yet catchy
beat. Sean is truly brilliant -- once you take in the whole picture or
concept of the song, you realize how much he is really saying about
the world, life, and relationships. We can only hope the band takes
some time out of their tour schedule to settle in at the recording
studio and the next release is on the way soon.
