Dr Hook & the Medicine Show later called just Dr. Hook or sometimes Doctor Hook, is the main topic in this FIRST, BIGGEST, and BEST Dr Hook Online Fanclub (founded in January 2001, we're almost 8 years old, & approaching 15,000 messages!). The group contributed to the sound track of, & actually appeared briefly in, a now obscure 1970 Dustin Hoffman film. Fronted by singers Ray Sawyer (with the eye patch and hat) & Dennis Locorriere, the band was unlike anything most folks had ever seen before or have seen since! With one of a kind lyrics by author/artist/lyricist Shel Silverstein, early albums were made up mostly of good time songs. One early hit, “Cover of the Rolling Stone”, did indeed get the boys on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine's issue 131. Strangely enough, several members didn’t make the cut or the cover. Officially Dr. Hook disbanded after 1985’s “one and only” final tour. Ray Sawyer again began performing as Dr Hook a few years later. The group produced approximately 200 different tracks, now found spread amongst dozens of albums and compilations, as well as unreleased material such as the famed "Fried Face" album, that never has been released! Dr. Hook is still quite popular throughout the world. Ray currently tours worldwide as Dr. Hook featuring Ray Sawyer. Dennis tours (outside the U.S.) as “The voice of Dr. Hook”. Each singer contributed greatly to the Dr. Hook magic, yet some folks insist on singling out one or the other as the real heart of the group. Many folks like myself, love ALL the band members! The only really comprehensive Dr. Hook compilation set (from UK) was named Pleasure & Pain, as was an album and song from the old days, this is what lends our group/list it’s name. The Pleasure of being a fan, and the Pain of not seeing our favorite group of loonies together. Now we all have a great place to hang our hats and be happy HOOKers. Get HOOKED today! Mike Paquin/Mr. Dr. Hook
