This list features information on the world's largest hammered dulcimer festival, the O.D.P.C. Funfest, Evart, Michigan. The dulcimer referred to is the "original" or hammered dulcimer. Other acoustic instruments are also encouraged at the festival. The list is a great resource for those who are interested in attending for the first time; a way of staying in touch for those who have attended previously; a method for keeping you advised of plans and other fun music events. The festival always starts on the Thursday before the third full weekend of July and runs through Sunday at noon. We recognize that there are already other lists in place for general discussions about hammered dulcimers. This list's is more regionally focused. While the primary aim is the O.D.P.C. dulcimer festival, other Michigan festivals and Michigan music events are also favored topics. We really aren't very strict when it comes to staying focused. We're chatty and friendly and we like it that way. (If staying on topic is important to you, this probably isn't the list for you.) Note: Sometimes you'll see (RER) in a message, that is a way of reminding folks that the list is supposed to be about "Evart." RER refers to "Required Evart Reference" -- It's a fun way of linking the message to the list's purpose. (But staying "on-topic" sure isn't necessary.)
