Re: [Euroshak] Urushi laquer

Hello Igor.

It is good to see that this group, somehow, still is alive and questions are
posted.
Unfortunately, I have never heard of a shakuhachi maker in Europe. I do make my
own instruments but only ji-nashi
shakuhachi, so I don't have any experience with lacquer.
There are, however, loads of American makers, who make really good shakuhahci. I
hope they don't mind me
posting their e-mail addresses. It shoudld be fine as they may get shakuhachi
contacts out of it, I guess. Here they
are:

Ken LaCosse: emptyflute@...
Monty Levenson: monty@...
Perry Young: slantgroup@...
Tom Deaver: tom-tom@...

Ken is based in San Francisco, Monty in northern California, Perry in New York,
and Tom in Nagano prefecture in
Japan.
Hope they can give you some good advice. Perhaps you can tell us on the list
what kind of result you had as all of us
may run into problems with our flutes.

Take care,
Kiku
