Dear shakuhachi friends,
as time proceeds Prague Shakuhachi Summer School is gaining more and more shape.
However, we need your support to make it a truly remarkable event.
We have prepared a creative workshop for shakuhachi and new media artists where
shakuhachi professional and a composer of contemporary music, Jim Franklin, will
serve as an artistic supervisor. This is a unique opportunity not only for
younger shakuhachi players to gain more experience on a rare cross-genre
project, but also to help to integrate shakuhachi to the contemporary art scene.
We feel that shakuhachi has so much to say regarding contemporary art and music,
yet its presence wasn't made apparent yet. Please, support us in this endeavor
and send the message to all who might be interested.
You can read more about the workshop on our website, www.komuso.cz
On the website you can also find an interview with a shakuhachi master of Kinko
School, Christopher Yohmei Blasdel, who is our right hand in Japan and whose
playing and good will have inspired the very creation of our festival. Thanks to
his effort we may now report that a grand master koto player, Haruko WATANABE,
will take part in the Summer School. She will perform in a concert and also help
in the sankyoku class.
Please feel free to send us any questions you may have we will be most happy to
answer.
With best regards.
Yours,
Marek Matvija
