PM Versus FM (The Integral Enigma)   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #747 of 1199 |
Hello,

This is my first post here, so let me start off by saying, thank you for
exisisting! I look
forward to some great exchanges with the list. I am a synth novice, but I'm
dedicated, and
excited because I feel I'm discovering my life passion... synthesis, sound,
music and dance!

And now to a question...

I have been trying to learn FM, especially the math, and I was wondering if
anyone could offer
some light on what Integrals have to do with distinguishing PM and FM? Why is
the Integral
needed for *true* FM synthesis, and yet most texts I read say that PM and FM are
basically
the same thing?

I don't know calculus, yet, so if anyone offer advice in layman's terms I would
greatly
appreciate it.

Thanks!
Andy

Is this list tied to the ampex list somehow? I started getting these emails as soon as I signed up to this list http://recordist.com/ampex/...
