I'm a newb... but not that much of a newb!
or
Maybe I am that much of a newb... I don't know... :-)
I have built a simple fm synth with Reaktor using a Sine for both the
Carrier and Modulator (everything AC), so I'm uncertain where the DC-offset
concept you mention comes into play? Is it somehwere in the math?
Here are the equations I have found:
For *pure* FM synthesis... (the "0" after the B is supposed to be an
integral sign...you can see it better from the link)
cos(wct + B0t f(t) dt)
http://ccrma.stanford.edu/software/snd/snd/fm.html
---------
For PM synthesis which yields similar results and is used widely in the
digital world:
x(t) = sin[2*p*fc*t + I * sin(2*p*fm*t)]
http://www.wam.umd.edu/~mphoenix/dss/dss.html
---------
Is the offset you are reffering to one of the constants in those equations?
Or is it like having the resultant rise above the x-axis on an oscilliscope?
Thanks again,
Andy
