Hi folks,
As Jon mentioned, there is still no complete recording of
Henze's "Elegy for Young Lovers" or "Elegie fuer junge Liebende" in
the translation by Ludwig Landgraf (Ludwig, Prince of Hesse) that
premiered in Schwetzingen in 1961 with DFD as Mittenhofer. DG did
reissue the "Scenes" with DFD and the Berlin (?) cast on CD, but it's
no longer in print.
I too bemoan the fact that no complete recording was ever made. Why didn't
they record the entire thing at the time insead of just highlights, when they
had the chance to have DFD singing the role? Shame. Anyway, the CD of
highlights is out of print as you say, but is now available as a download at
the DG
Web Shop. That's how I finally obtained my copy after searching for the CD in
vain.
