Travis' new band, Lettuce Olive, makes their first appearance under
the new band name Friday, 2/29 at the Go Bar in Athens, GA. Travis is
very excited about the band, and we hope anyone in the vicinity can
make it out to support him and the band.
"Two Arm Army" is probably the hardest rocking song off the new CD. It
is now posted at the IPR My Space page.
www.myspace.com/indigoplanetrecords
The CD release and party is one week away. We hope to see many of you
there.
The lineup is finally set for the official release of "Artichoke" @
Common Grounds in Gainesville. $5 admission and the CD will be
available for the first time. (Lineup is Travis Tooke, Funkiller,
Hydra the Sea Serpent, and Taylor Mott.) Travis will be performing
solo and with special guests. He'll also be performing some new songs
from his next release, and just maybe a FS or Subrosa tune mixed in
(if practice goes well).
I really hope some of you from this board (and the FS.net board) are
able to be there that night. This show means a lot to Travis, and he
is looking forward to feeding off the energy in the room. IPR has a
couple of Interns in the Central Florida area helping to promote the
show, but if ANYONE reading can help in any way (media, pass along to
friends, post on boards, etc) we would be very grateful. My wife and I
will be there, and I hope to meet some of you as well. Please make
sure you find me! I can also be reached at the following e-mail address:
dave@...
Thanks everyone for the continued support!
"Acid Test." Just posted on our My Space page...
www.myspace.com/indigoplanetrecords
We hope you all like it! Release date for the CD is 12/7, with more
details on that and the party in Gainesville coming soon.

Travis Tooke (For Squirrels) Ends
Hiatus, to Release Solo CD
Former For Squirrels and Subrosa Guitarist/Singer to
Release Debut Solo CD on Indigo Planet Records
(Aberdeen,
NJ – August 13, 2007)Travis Tooke,
former founding member of Sony/Epic recording artists For Squirrels and Subrosa
will release his first solo CD on New Jersey-based Indigo Planet Records.
"Speaking
both as a fan, and a label, I cannot begin to say how excited I am to be
working with Travis," said label President Dave Kosciolek. "Many people, myself
included, have been wondering about Travis the last eight years. I'm happy to
say that he has never stopped writing music, and we are anxious for the world
to hear it."
The
CD, tentatively titled "Artichoke," is expected to be released in late 2007,
and will include material written by Travis between 2002 and 2005.
Pre-production has already begun on the 2nd CD, which will include
songs written since 2006.
About
Indigo Planet Records – Originally launched in 2005, IPR previously worked with
many local and regional artists, leading to commercial radio airplay and local
music recognition awards.
About For Squirrels/Subrosa – For Squirrels
signed with Sony Records in 1995. Weeks before the release of their major-label
debut CD "Example," the band was driving home from NYC to Florida after an
industry performance when their van blew a tire causing their vehicle to
overturn, killing two band members and their tour manager. "Example" spawned
the radio hit "Mighty KC." The two surviving members regrouped under the name
Subrosa, releasing one CD in 1997.
Oh yeah, if you sent me a request already, I probably deleted you on accident. Please resend with a message that you are a for squirrels or subrosa fan so I know it's not spam. Sorry about that!
Hi Everyone - Within the next couple of weeks, we expect to make a formal announcement about the pending release of Travis Tooke's first solo CD. We are very excited to be working with Travis on this project, and will release details very soon.
Until then, if you are on MySpace, please feel free to add us as a "friend." We'll announce things there first, and you can reach us there as well.

completion but haven't seen anything since. - Sean

Yeah, still alive and kicking here. This list indeed used to be more active, but I think we've just run out of things to talk about. That's no reason to take it down or anything. I want to keep it going for the rare occasion of news (such as the ill-fated tribute album) or for when interesting people join (friends and relatives of the bands).
Thanks for the Youtube links, Josh. I do hope you/we hear good news from Mike :)

I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I've been in love with For
Squirrels and the music they created since 1994. I found an email
address from the ForSquirrels.net website for a guy that has copies of
the Baypath Rd. album, so hopefully I'll be hearing from him soon and
will be able to obtain a copy.
Anyways, thanks for the add.
Jason
Yoshi,
If you need copies of any of the CD's I would be
willing to make copies for you for personal use only.
I have all three of the For Squirrels albums
(Plymouth, Baypath Rd, and Example) and the Subrosa
CD.
You might also want to check eBay. They regularly
have copies of Example and Never Bet The Devil Your
Head available. Just type in either For Squirrels or
Subrosa in your search request.
My secretary mailed copies of those disks to Peter on
Monday so he should be getting them any day now and
hopefully will begin the re-mastering soon.

Hello,
I'm new to the board, so let me introduce myself. I used to live
in Florida and played bass in a band called Lunatic Fringe. Trent,
Travis' little bro, played guitar in it and we played a show with
Subrosa at The Covered Dish before it closed down. I'm currently in
Los Angeles doing many creative things, including music production.
I've only had Baypath Rd on cassette tape or crappy MP3's. It's
one of my favorite records and I'd like to remaster it from a CD
copy. Can someone please contact me and let me know how I can get
one? It would benefit us all as after I'm finished I'll post MP3's
(if everyone is ok with that).

P.S. I build cool guitar pedals (Splinter) in extremely small
batches that you can check out here if interested:
http://www.ursomusic.com/ Thanks!
it's really hard to describe the music. during the first three songs i felt like i could cry. i couldn't help but think about how he got so screwed over, how he used to have a band, and how he used to have long hair and not a full-face beard. and i just felt like that's where i would be in 5 years now since my band broke up and everyday i feel older, not wanting to pick up my guitar because i think no matter what i write can't compare to the quality of the music i've heard in the past, or the new music that's captivating to the people that actually want to listen. Travis' songs we really good, the first song, first words were "thank you for coming, thank you for being there" the way he wrote paints such a marvelous picture. another song he sang, these words stuck with me, "if music is medicine, what's the matter" another one he sang was really weird singing "i am a musical wizard" going on and then at the bridge saying "this is, a
really weird song..." then singing the next verse "i am a wusical mizard" it was quite funny. another one seemed to describe a relationship with a woman, or possibly his wife (ex-wife). another song he sang, described how he felt about today's youth, possibly the goth/emo scene "you look at me through black eyes" i'm can't remember the rest of the words, but i can assure you he wasn't talking about domestic violence. i could look at him and tell, he didn't want to be up there playing the acoustic, he wanted to be playing an electric, with distortion and a full four-piece band like anyone would want. his songs were beautiful, showing love, anger, and sadness. the set was well put together so it all flowed. as for comparing it? i jsut can't i really want to but the proper adjectives jsut aren't coming to mind right now, sorry you just have to hear him for yourself. i asked about the music being availiable and he said he has an album but he's been
"sitting on it for a year, don't have the money to put it out" i suggested to him, he needs to get a myspace, he could put his music up there for us all to listen to, everyone's got one, i, and the band i had, have one. i told him to check out the commongrounds myspace and look for my comment "i'll be the one playing guitar, screaming my head off" i'm sure he's busy of forgot but i'm still looking for his reply. like posted before, i had so many more questions, but those will just have to wait for another time. i hope i helped. - Yoshi

hey, i went to
his show with my friend/roommate. it's been 7 years since i've seen him last, so i didn't recognize him. he didn't play any FS or Subrosa, but at the end of his set he played house of the rising sun (cover of course) as he was walking outside, with his guitars, shortly after his set, i walked up to him and introduced myself. shook hands and all as i complimented him and told him about the last show i was able to see him play. i couldn't find my NBTDYH CD in my truck i thought i brought it, i felt dumb, i wanted him to sign it. but he was happy to sign his set list that he had in his pocket. he drew a smiley face with some creative structure using the letters of his name. and then thought he'd say something to personalize it "i can't think of anything to say" he said as he wrote "brain cramp" then dithered to write something else. i said "i don't care" i knew what ever he would write would be words of gold, or golden words or, well you
get my point. well he heard what i said, and decided to write "i care". well that was awesome enough. i asked him about the songs he played and about recordings and about him being married and having children. i wanted to ask more, but two other people had walked out and had been standing there quietly patient, waiting for the attention of "Great Travis Tooke" i said good night and told him i would love to come to his next show, he asked if i was going to stay for the next bands and i told him i couldn't, for i have a long 2½ hour drive back to Tampa ahead of me, and it was already 11pm so i said good night as i drove away listening to Subrosa from my MP3 player. it was a good night indeed.

hey, i went to his show with my friend/roommate. it's been 7 years since i've seen him last, so i didn't recognize him. he didn't play any FS or Subrosa, but at the end of his set he played house of the rising sun (cover of course) as he was walking outside, with his guitars, shortly after his set, i walked up to him and introduced myself. shook hands and all as i complimented him and told him about the last show i was able to see him play. i couldn't find my NBTDYH CD in my truck i thought i brought it, i felt dumb, i wanted him to sign it. but he was happy to sign his set list that he had in his pocket. he drew a smiley face with some creative structure using the letters of his name. and then thought he'd say something to personalize it "i can't think of anything to say" he said as he wrote "brain cramp" then dithered to write something else. i said "i don't care" i knew what ever he would write would be words of gold, or golden words or, well you
get my point. well he heard what i said, and decided to write "i care". well that was awesome enough. i asked him about the songs he played and about recordings and about him being married and having children. i wanted to ask more, but two other people had walked out and had been standing there quietly patient, waiting for the attention of "Great Travis Tooke" i said good night and told him i would love to come to his next show, he asked if i was going to stay for the next bands and i told him i couldn't, for i have a long 2½ hour drive back to Tampa ahead of me, and it was already 11pm so i said good night as i drove away listening to Subrosa from my MP3 player. it was a good night indeed.

Travis will be playing at Common Grounds on Saturday, November 26. He has a lot of new songs and has been practicing some of the old.
