| PRESS RELEASE-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 12, 2009 Contact: Adeeb Shabazz 912-308-4259 1-877-494-8629 Savannah, GA-The Democratic Freedom Caucus has selected Savannah-based political activist Adeeb Shabazz as its Georgia state chair and its newest National Committee member. Adeeb Shabazz is a former chairperson of the Libertarian Party of Chatham County, GA and former Press Secretary and Executive Committee member of the Libertarian Party of Georgia. Shabazz recently made the switch to the Democratic Party, seeing the vision of President-elect Barack Obama and several other key Democrats elected in this past November's election as an opportunity to enact some liberty-based initiatives within the Democratic Party and thus within our government. Shabazz recently appeared on WTOC-11 News, January 5, 2009, with former Chatham County Commissioner John McMasters and Citizens for Fair Public Policy during a rally and press conference held to advocate lower property taxes. "I'm willing to work with those who support individual liberty and social responsibility here in Georgia wherever I may find them, and help the Democratic Party truly become the party of the working man and woman," said Shabazz. The Democratic Freedom Caucus (DFC) is a progressive, pro-freedom caucus in the Democratic Party founded in 1996 by Hanno Beck, Mike O'Mara, and ex-Libertarian Party member Andrew Spark. The purpose of the DFC is to promote individual liberty, constitutional democracy, and social responsibility. They can be found on the web at http://www.democraticfreedomcaucus.org |
