The GLRBR To Perform A Tribute To The Life And Music Of Duane Allman
Re-live the Last Night at the Fillmore East on November 20th, 2004 at Moe's
Alley in Santa Cruz, CA
The Allman Brothers Band defined the genre of live rock recordings
with their historic album from The Fillmore East in NYC. This
recording invariably shows up on lists of top five live rock
recordings of all time.
But it was recorded in March, 1971 -- and three months later in June,
1971, Bill Graham, the legendary owner of the Fillmore East, who
could have chosen any band on the planet, invited the Allman Brothers
Band back to play at the last shows at the venue.
And play they did ... while the March 1971 shows were incredible,
those fans who attended the June 1971 shows consider them the "holy
grail" of live rock performances. The band took the stage after
midnight and literally "played all night." But while there are over a
thousand recordings of live Allman Brothers Band shows in
circulation, there is no known recording from that night. And so the
set list has been pieced together as best as possible from many fan's
memories from that night -- and what a set list! From Statesboro
Blues to Whipping Post and Mountain Jam, the Allman Brothers Band
played everything in their repertoire, and then just kept jamming
after that.
Until now, this show only existed in the memories of those lucky
enough to be there. To honor the memory of Duane Allman and to
celebrate the music of the band that is still going strong today
after 35 years of playing, The Goodlife Rhythm & Blues Revue will
recreate this historic "lost" performance, the legendary closing
concert of the Fillmore East, November 20th, 2004 at the Moe's Alley
in Santa Cruz . If you were at the first show, come feel the magic
again. If you wish you had been at the first show, this is as close
as you will ever come in your lifetime -- so come join us and help
make this another night to remember!
