the patch and system data requires the on-board battery, which is a
CR2032 lithium button cell. Get them off eBay cheap. Changing it is
easy - remove all the screws of the bottom of the GT2, remove the
bottom cover, and you'll see the battery in a holder on the circuit board.
It would be good to back up all your patch data etc before you start,
otherwise you'll lose it all. Use GT Manager to back everything up -
you'll need to connect to your PC using a MIDI interface. If you
haven't bought GT Manager, then either buy it so that you can save all
the data on the PC. Or run it in eval mode, load the data into GT
Manager, change the battery on the GT3, and then send the data back
again from GT Manager. This avoids the need to save (write) any data
on the PC, which GT Manager won't do in eval mode. Hope that makes
sense :)
