In some good news this week, NBC-TV continues it’s “faith-themed” programming; Christian music hits the mainstream in Europe; PLUMB is a new mommy; DONNIE MCCLURKIN announces his retirement; RELIENT K strikes Gold; CHRIS TOMLIN makes radio history; upcoming concerts in the Southwest; new album releases; Top 10 Things That Has Taken Me Almost 50 Years to Learn; and much more!
IN THE NEWS: It looks as if the latest “theme” at NBC-TV is “faith”, as the “Peacock Network” is developing several series with Spiritual concepts. Glory2Glory reported last week that AMY GRANT was named as the host of “Three Wishes,” a weekly NBC program where the pioneering Christian singer will lead a team of experts to a small town to help make changes in the lives of
three of its residents. Now NBC-TV is developing a drama entitled "The Book of Daniel," where a “struggling” Episcopal minister named Daniel Webster (Aidan Quinn) wrestles with family issues and a dependence on prescription pills. In the series Webster comes in contact with the Lord Himself (newcomer Garrett Dillahunt) in the form of a modern-day private counselor. Also starring in the series which is projected for the 2005-2006 season is veteran actress Ellen Burstyn as Daniel's church superior.
NBC is unveiling the first of it’s "faith-based" programming—a mini-series based on the apocalyptic prophecies given in the Book of Revelation—on April 13th. “Revelations” runs for six episodes and “follows the efforts of Sister Josepha Montifiore, a globe-trotting nun played by Natascha McElhone, and Dr. Richard Massey, a Harvard astrophysicist played by Bill Pullman, to determine whether the end of the world is indeed near.” The network promises that “Revelations” (written by David Seltzer, the producer of the 1970's horror film, “The Omen") will be a “far cry from the uplifting tone and reserved brand of spirituality found in prime-time offerings like ‘Touched by an Angel,’ ‘Highway to
Heaven’ or ‘Joan of Arcadia.’" <><
A song about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ is one of the hottest tunes on the radio in Europe. "Crucifying You," performed by the group RAINDOWN, is an International hit featureing lyrics that speak explicitly of Christ and of the singer's relationship with Him: "Although I am crucifying you again and again, You forgive me the wrongs I do, You forgive me." Also a music video is being widely played on several International television networks. According to Manuel de Teffe of Shineout Productions, who produced the video, "There are musicians and groups all over the world that are dedicating their
music essentially to a mission of new evangelization." <><
SOUNDBYTES: Singer Tiffany Arbuckle Lee (a.k.a. PLUMB) is a new mother, giving birth to a healthy 6 lb. 6 ½ oz. boy on March 22nd. You can see pictures of the new baby, Solomon Fury Lee, and send congratulations at the proud parents’ website, www.thecrazylees.com. <>< DONNIE MCCLURKIN has announced he will leave his record label after his contract with Verity Records ends in 2006. The pastor/founder of Perfected Faith Church in Freeport, New York plans to concentrate on
“nurturing” his growing thousand-member flock and eventually record with his church choir. <>< The Canton, Ohio CCM band RELIENT K has been awarded a Gold Record by the RIAA for their 2003 release, “Two Lefts Don’t Make A Right… But Three Do.” The album has also previously received a Grammy nomination and GMA Dove Award for “Modern Rock Album Of The Year.” <>< Songwriter/Worship leader CHRIS TOMLIN has made radio history with the first two singles from his latest project, “Arriving,” hitting the Top 10 charts simultaneously. “Indescribable” and “Holy Is The Lord” join other Worship anthems written by Tomlin including “Forever,” “We Fall Down,” “The Wonderful Cross,” and “Famous One.” <>< In an unique way to increase church attendance, Christ’s Church of the Valley in Peoria,
Arizona is giving away tickets to see U2 in concert on April 15th in Glendale, Arizona! <>< Brian “Head” Welch, who recently quit the heavy metal band Korn to pursue a relationship with Jesus Christ, has a new website up and running (Headtochrist.com). In an interview on the new official site, Welch says, "I'm at peace with myself, and instead of being afraid of my own shadow, I fear nothing but the Lord…He is the quarterback and I am the football." <>< After nearly a three-year hiatus from recording, CRYSTAL LEWIS will release “See” on May 3rd, co-produced by Lewis and “electro-rocker” Jyro Xhan (Mortal, Fold Zandura). <><

CHUCK’S CHUCKLES:
Top 10 Things That Has Taken Me Almost 50 Years to Learn--
10. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight-savings time (“Spring ahead” this weekend!)
9. The most powerful force in the universe is “gossip”.
8. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.
7. If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved its full potential, that word would be "meetings."
6. The main accomplishment of almost all organized protests is to annoy people who are not in them.
5. You should not confuse your career with your life.
4. A person, who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.
3. No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously.
2. Your friends love you, anyway.
1. Nobody cares if you can't dance well…just get up and dance!
