IN THE NEWS:  TOBYMAC is releasing a remix album with new versions of songs from his latest project Welcome to Diverse City.  New versions of "Slam," "Gone," "Atmosphere," "Hey Now" and others will be featured on Renovating Diverse City with production talent from such big-gun producers as Matt Bronleewe, Tedd T., Max Hsu, Dave Wyatt, Chris Stevens and Double Dutch.  Also toby’s web site (tobymac.com/contest) is giving his fans the opportunity to win one of five of his remix CDs before they can buy it in the stores, just by entering the contest by July 25th. 

Also tobymac is currently in the studio working on a new song, "Brave New World,” for the soundtrack of the upcoming film The Chronicles of Narnia, based on a C.S. Lewis children's novel.  The movie is set to be released nationwide in theaters on December 9th. with the film’s “Inspirational” soundtrack, including new songs by STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN, JARS OF CLAY, JEREMY CAMP, BETHONY DILLON and REBECCA ST. While on the subject of children’s films, the actors who supplied the voices of “Piglet” and “Tigger” in the "Winnie the Pooh" animated movies and television programs have died.  80-year-old John Fiedler, the voice of Piglet, was a distinguished actor with nearly 100 notable guest roles on TV, including Cadet Alfie Higgins on "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet" and Mr. Emil Peterson on "The Bob Newhart Show."

Also Master ventriloquist Paul Winchell, the voice of Tigger, died in his sleep last week at 82.  Winchell will be remembered most for the numerous voices he did in animations, including the voice of “Gargamel” in the Saturday morning cartoon, "The Smurfs." <>< 

Organizers of the “Live 8” concerts held around the world last Saturday (July 2nd) hopes the event raised awareness about poverty in Africa and encouraged the leaders of the “G8 nations” to eliminate Third World debt, increase aid to Africa and adopt fair trade practices.  But Live 8 also helped raise awareness of contemporary Christian music, as JARS OF CLAY was the only Christian band invited to perform at the U.S.A. show.  Jars performed in Philadelphia in front of almost 1 million concert-goers, joining a list of mainstream superstars including Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, Destiny's Child, Linkin Park, Maroon 5, Sarah McLachlan, Rob Thomas, Stevie Wonder, Toby Keith, Alicia Keys and Black Eyed Peas.  Although the band's performance didn’t make in to the MTV, VH1 or ABC television broadcasts, the band’s set of “Show You Love” and “Flood” were broadcast live online in AOL Music’s video presentation and XM Satellite Radio’s audio feed. <><

SOUNDBYTES:  Cherie Paliotta Adams, a member of AVALON from 1998 to 2002, is releasing her debut solo album The Sweet Life this summer.  The album showcases the songwriting talents of Adams, who wrote or co-wrote eight of the CD’s 11 songs. <><  Worship leader/artist PAUL BALOCHE will be part of a live, orchestral concert for Public Television that is being filmed in Portland, Maine on July 9th.  The special will air this Christmas on PBS. <>< TODD AGNEW will headline the “Reflection Of Something Tour” this fall in 25 cities around the country.  Canadian rockers STARFIELD and the new band INHABITED joins Agnew on the road from September 15th through the month of October.  For updated tour info, visit:  www.toddagnew.com or www.GOA-INC.com. <>< THE AFTERS, who are touring on the second leg of JEREMY CAMP’s “Restored Tour” this fall, recently appeared on MTV’s “Advance Warning,” a half-hour show that MTV bills as about up and coming artists who will be “the NEXT big thing in music!”  You can view the band’s clip from the program at www.mtv.com. <><
